Thank you (: My girlfriend is Vietnamese and does not have family near us. Sometimes she gets very sad because she misses the food from there so sometimes we go to the vietnamese market to get food there. Today I decided to cook her this because she mentioned she really wanted to eat it again. She loved it (: Thanks again

I love the way you boil the chicken separately with the bones first, which then gives you the rich bone broth for the congee, ready to go, instead of plain water!

My grandmother used to make this when we were kids :D She's Dutch-Indonesian so we know it as "bubur ayam" but it's very similar. It's nice with thinly-sliced leek or cabbage in it and a good way to sneak vegetables into kids. I'll have to give it a try, my grandmother doesn't really follow a recipe so I never did work out how to do it properly. Thank-you for the instructions! :D

Interesting that you use both glutinous and jasmine rice. My parents only used jasmine rice in our congee and we like ours with less water so it's more dense. I like eating mine topped with sliced green onions, sliced cilantro, fried shallots, and homemade garlic hot pepper. Mmmm!!! BTW, your hair looks great!!

I have had chicken porridge in almost every Asian country (excl. Laos and Burma/Myanmar). It seems to be quite ubiquitous amongst Asian cultures (thanks China). My favorite versions happen to be South Korean and Malaysian. Korean version had tons of garlic that was sweet and mellow. Malaysian version was very bold do it adding dark soy sauce and a little Black Vinegar.
