The other buttons are there for the S trim. That is where you access the safety features on the S trim as opposed to on screen as you do with the SV and SR versions. That is what the buttons are for. They are filled up on the S trim.

I dig the road trip format. Nice. I also kind of dig this car. Two summers back, we flew in to Ft. Lauderdale and drove to Key West. This was the car we ended up with for me, my wife, and two sons to take on this adventure. The deadly slow acceleration was the only negative I could find. Otherwise, the car was spacious for four, had great air conditioning, and even had adaptive cruise control. The car lays down the miles in a quiet fashion that made the trip very enjoyable. Would I buy one, probably not, but it would be a great starter vehicle for a younger driver or a great city car for anyone.

Basic transportation has come a long way compared to a few decades ago.
My first car back in the 70's, was a 1967 Datsun 4 door sedan with a 3 speed column mounted shifter, no power anything and only an AM radio.
In regards to horsepower, it was probably between 50-75, and it definitely did not have air conditioning.
Very basic transportation, but extremely reliable.

Great review! I own one and the three things I don't like about it are the following:
    1) The grille is too bug-friendly, and cleaning the mess from insects caught during long trips is a tough job.
    2) I miss a better arm rest on the driver's door.
    3) The door lock/unlock buttons on the driver's door are the only ones that are not back-lit, so it is difficult to find those buttons at night. The overhead light does not help at all.

We had TWO new 2020 Kicks (SR trims) for a while. Once "up to speed" and going down the road, the car felt just fine. It was the inner-city stop and go that was disappointing, especially when the CVT tried to fake shifts at inopportune times - rather than providing a seamless old-school CVT experience. Power delivery in the 0-30 MPH range was inexplicably lumpy under light to moderate throttle, and made worse as the AC compressor cycled on and off at these low urban speeds. At a steady 18-20 MPH, the torque converter clutch would lock up (and possibly unlock on decel) and create an unrefined "stumble/nudge" sensation. But I have to remember that these cars were cheap and the engineering/refinement cost cutting was therefore evident.

Different model. My exterior is exactly like the one in the video but it's an SV model.

I'd sill take a corolla hybrid or hyundai kia product over this. In top spec this is 30k lol that's jetta territory...idk 2k more gets you a LE camry hybrid...I think the trailblazer takes it in this segment.

I have twin toddlers. Would I be able to fit both baby seats side to side in the back?

We had ine for a rental and while not bad, fhe lack if arm rest wiuld make me not buy one. Well technically has her arm rest but there's no way to rest your arm on it. And as for all the blank buttons to the left our rental was at base model but most of those were filled up by safety features that you can turn off. Perhaps on yours their standards so they didn't put a button for them?

Unless you need the base $19 K model for $24k you would be better off with a base Corolla Cross or the new gen HRV.

HRV is just as slow. Pointless to pay more.

Yup. We timed it well. The temps topped out in the 80s during the day.

I'd add a self destruct button. And use it right away.
