Great review! Forrest has a calm soothing way of reviewing a car which I enjoy very much! Nissan Kicks does offer a lot of bang for your buck and Nissan has said they've worked on their CVTs to make them more reliable.
Don't believe Nissan is working on anything, as far as those transmissions are concerned.... they've had this problem for years now, it got so bad that when I took my Maxima into the service department for the third time , for transmission issues they just replaced it under warranty and I wasn't alone, waiting for replacement CVT transmissions ....unless you could get a written warranty for at least 60,000 miles, don't go near anything from Nissan with a CVT transmission.... you've been warned .....
@@braetonwilson4296 if your going in buying a new vehicle thinking of buy an extended warranty...am thinking just buy a better vehicle, where an extended warranty won't be needed ...like the Toyota or Honda because after adding the cost of that extended warranty, your at what the better competition is at ....
I've had mine 2 days and I will never go back to driving an xterra I love it it's perfect for me I love how it drives and handles my dad,has tried to steal my kicks and,so has my mom have, owned two other nissans for years best brand ever
We’ve been driving Nissan vehicles with the CVT transmission for years. Never had a problem. Just bought a Kicks after comparison shopping and don’t regret the decision at all! If I wanted sports car acceleration and handling, I would’ve bought a Hyundai Kona N Line or a Cooper Mini
Normally I dont leave comments but this is an exception. Great review on the car. I was looking to upgrade from my 2011 Equinox and needed something in the low to mid 20ks and this was one of the first options to pop up. it has a lot of similarities from my equinox but so much more modern and stylish, and gas efficiency alone is a big winner in my book. Thank you for the review once more
Nice, honest, and reasonable review. Bought the Kicks SR and don’t regret it. It feels peppier than the numbers suggest. I’m used to driving Nissan CVTs so their behavior is not an issue for me, nor have I had any reliability issues. Excellent for city driving and does just fine on the freeway at 80mph. With the AC on full blast, 4 people in the car, and going up hill, passing a car at 70-80 mph requires a little patience or strategic timing. But outside of those rare scenarios this car has enough power, but you will need to push it to higher RPMs, which it usually feels eager to do.
I purchased the basic 2021 Nissan Kicks on 9/20/21. Generally I like the car. What wasn't discussed in the video is the small capacity fuel tank. Only 10.8 gallons. My daily drive is 50+ miles per day. Also, I've experienced dashboard sensor issues (front crash light goes on unexpectedly), wiper blade issues and a squeaking noise in the rear drivers side of the car after multiple stops. The Nissan Service Group associated with the dealership where I purchased the car are the absolute worsted group of service people I have ever dealt with. I think the dashboard lights are poorly programed and take a long time to reset. The small gas tank and poor maintenance service have prompted me to look at other options.
Just bought a barely used 2023 Kicks SR with 1,900 miles on it. As I am nearing retirement, the price at 21,500.00 OTD was an excellent fit for my budget. The heated steering wheel and rump roaster seats will be appreciated when winter hits. The safety and visibility features are much more important the acceleration etc. As for the CVT, my work car is an 8 year old Versa Note, the Kicks predecessor, with 162,000 miles. No trouble with CVT at all. Just follow the maintenance, and maybe consider extending the warranty.
I don’t know if a lot of people know this but there is a button on the gear changer that’ll put the Nissan Kick in sport mode. I’d love to see how that affects the 0-60 time
Great review! We love our 2023 Kicks. As far as a comparison to the older HR-V and your sound deadening comment, though, I found the 2021 HR-V I extensively drove to be a much louder car than our Kicks. The Kicks also has a better ride the HR-V did and much more comfortable seats - the ones in the HR-V were hard and outright uncomfortable to the point of causing backache. The new HR-V, I feel, is not even a competitor to the Kicks as it has grown in size and price. But, the older one was straight on a competitor, but I much prefer the Kicks. The only features the Honda has over the Nissan was its magic rear seat, which was awesome (can't believe they got rid of that feature in the new one), and the availability of AWD. I do wish the Kicks came with AWD - it would be a perfect, lil' ute if so!
Hummm....some case's of transmission problems? I've had mine replaced, on my Maxima, with only 42,000 miles and countless trips to my Nissan dealerships, complaining of transmission problems....they tried everything to get out from replacing it (they had all of my service records) only when I threatened to join the class action law suit, that was ongoing because of these CVT transmissions did corporate authorized the repair....my thoughts on these vehicles are, if you must have one of these, get a 2019 in good condition, with the transmission replaced with a NEW unit and a warranty....and save yourself at least half of the new asking price .....
Wish the Kicks had a 5 or 6 speed auto transmission, would probably be more peppy. Here in Canada my 4-speed Nissan Micra has quick response, the tires screech if I step to hard on the accelerator, it sips gas, but it's small and uncomfortable on long drives.
How do you keep your car looking so new and shiny any advice i have the same model and color mine gets really dirty and needs washing all the time i have an SR in the same color.
They’re not known for having flat cargo floors like Honda. Having a flat floor is really a dealbreaker though. I don’t mind it as much since I’m so used to not having a flat floor
Very Nice Review. I am not a fan of CVTs myself, but that seems to be the way with things, and that 122 hp is too light for my driving style . . . I'm leaning towards the Seltos, I really wanna see the new Corolla Cross and I am still attracted to the Encore GX as well.
I just bought a brand new 2022 Nissan Kicks SV less than two weeks ago and I'm already experiencing major problems. The car shudders when I brake and then stalls. The battery, oil, and seatbelt lights always turn on when I'm driving. So frustrating. I've read that this has been a problem dating back to 2018 kicks. This car is a lemon for sure.
It’s pretty standard to me. It’s the same size steering wheel I had in my old Versa. My old steering wheel cover from my Versa fits just the same on my Kicks. :)
Its not true 31 in the city 36 in a highway. The interior is sucks materials are cheap. I have 2021 SR trim. Less than a yr the interior is damage already specially the driver seat. I sold my kicks after 1 yr of using it. The back seat leg room are too tight. Dont buy this suv... just buy the rogue sports much better. Before buying this car check the cup holder its funny.
I have a 2020. My mom has had 2 muranos and loves them. I hated the cvt transmissions. When i test drove the cvt in the kicks was better so i thought id give it a chance maybe get used to it. I still hate it lmao(2024) only thing wrong with the car. If the transmission blows up maybe ill manual transmission swap from a wrecked sentra. Same engine an drive train so maybe itll work😂 or give me the 7 speed auto in the infiniti sedan. I get its for mpg but damn its shit to drive

Checks all the boxes for me. Love all the features and the mileage.

Would all small compacts have smaller gas tanks?
The exhaust tip isn't "fragile". It's mounted hanging from a rubber bushing to keep it from vibrating and clanging around when you hit bumps.
Nice review! _Saludos_ from the Nissan Kicks mothership a.k.a. Aguascalientes, Mexico!

Our 2021 kicks came with a speed boost button. I don't know that we have that fancy light though😕
Looking to purchase one tomorrow after work
I purchased one yesterday and trust me you won’t regret it.
One of the vehicles I’m looking at to get I’m going down to the Nissan dealership this weekend to test drive that and the Sentra
Would you recommend the Kicks over the Hyundai Venue. Looking to get into a lower cost sub compact and im torn between these 2
I really like this vehicle!! Very good straight forward review!!
A car review with no mention of ride quality
I love the orange trim in the seats.
I don’t know if a lot of people know this but there is a button on the gear changer that’ll put the Nissan Kick in sport mode. I’d love to see how that affects the 0-60 time
I do wish they matched up to the Toyota CH-R's 144 hp, but having a fully-loaded crossover at that price is pretty much unbeatable

Sad to say but that car hasn’t had any major refreshes. You could just RUclips old reviews and learn about it.
BLAZE APPROVES! MY 2021 NISSAN KICKS RULES love mine!!!
Love my new 2021 Kicks!
best review of this car out there. Thank you!
👏👏👏Me applauding your review. Although I think this is a cute and adequate vehicle, I wouldn't choose it or its competition due to the power output.
Now i am considering this to replace my 2009 corolla
Can 4 luggages (3 nos 29inches + 1 no 26inches) fit in the luggage space?
I am thinking of trading my 2017 Nissan Vera for a Nissan Kicks. Its most def a big upgrade for me and affordable.
I got one just to get from a to b

What about the nissan kicks hybrid
I love this small duv very affordable
Why Nissan couldn't spend $50 for a flat cargo floor is beyond me, I can tolerate a weak engine but that cargo area might be a deal breaker.

Did you take it to the dealer since it is under warranty?
Never considered this but after your review....down to earth reporting...does this have anti roll back on hill start
yes it does.
My 2020 kicks is beautiful, but a terrible ride. Transmission is scary
Hold on to your warranty papers.... you'll probably need it soon with that CVT transmission....
Nice job
1:45 And... I am outta here...
Mazda, KIA & Hyundai aren't competion for it ? They rank better than Nissan constantly, lol...
Compare it to the CX-3 or Seltos.
Well done Nissan.
Kicks replaces the Juke; both of which were aimed at young people (their names say it all!)
Forest!!!!!! 😂
Title said "Trick" ???
i have the exact same car

But other than that it's an attractive practical little car

Okay, like the color. Dislike the agricultural engine note. I'll take a Kia Soul S please.
My Goldwing motorcycle has a 6 cylinder engine, 1.8L and 125 HP and over 50 MPG. Yeah it ain't an SUV but this is a weak vehicle.
Why you say 29000 when? I paid thirty three thousand three hundred for my nissan kicks
Good👍
Nissan in UAE are the most stingiest dealer in the UAE, had to go with Kia seltos due to Nissan's behavior towards customers
I like mine a lot if you want to know.
