-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... Кино
To each His own but personally I feel this Is some of Billy's best. I like music that moves me and when I 1st heard this...It moved me..still does !
I was disappointed that they pretty much hated this song. Rebel Yell is cool, but this song it’s on another level for me. It’s moved me, too, for decades 🤘
@@mirasolbalaga5616 I totally agree. This Is one of my favorite songs of the eighties. Andy and Alex are cool and like some cool music and I will still watch them....but to sweep this under the rug puzzles me... They need to watch the live version from story tellers in that cozy environment with Steve Stevens going off on the lead guitar...smokin' hot playing !
@@blakesuggs8380 I don’t know how people can love most songs on the first listen. Some of my favorite songs took years to grow on me. I’m glad they’re reacting to Billy Idol. They may be hating on the 80’s but I’m finding some the song choices (to react to) boring. I love the music from the 70’s, but some the classic rock stuff is a bit stale
@@mirasolbalaga5616 ruclips.net/video/Xicx_ZABlUU/видео.html.....If this don't move you...then nothing will !
Hell yes Blake 💜 it moved me too, still does
This song is magic. Late night summer cruiser. You’re trip’n.
Exactly -- 80s in the Hollywood Hills, that night blooming jasmine in the air, the ocean of lights below Mulholland Drive...brings back more than a few memories for sure. I think they totally missed the vibe on this one :-o
@@timjohnson7919, oouuu that sounds spooky man. I lived there for a while so I can talk. Ha ha! Fuckin L.A.
no place like that for sure. So weird it’s got lotsa good and lotsa very bad.
@@timjohnson7919 they weren't born then so it's not a whole experience to them like it was for us. They will never get it....
I love this song because you can hear how good his voice is.
He can sing a ballad, roar and scream. Pretty damn cool.
I've liked him since he first came out in the 80s.
Yup. Old chick here! Lol!
Good Kitty
If u lived through the 80’s this just sounds like a song, not something that is “so 80’s”. But I understand that some ears will always hear it as just “80’s, which is somewhat unfortunate.
This song kicks ass. ESPECIALLY if you were 20 in 1984 living the dream to it. It was a big part of the soundtrack of the most magical year ever.
OR in your teens
I was 18 and in 2 more years I enlisted in the Navy. Hitting night clubs in places like SoCal to Tijuana to the pacific rim and listening to this music loud, man I can still smell the atmosphere.
I was 20 in 87 and this is right in my wheelhouse…kids these days…so wrong
Something about a pair of echoey girls singing in French ...
Seventeen was even better. "Rebel Yell" tour. Front row, baby! And, nothing sticks to your record 'cause you're still under age!
Eyes Without a Face is A+ all the way. Hopefully one day you’ll hear it at that right moment and it all clicks.
No it’s an S
Absolutely!!
I was a teenage girl when this song came out and I loved it and still do. I think it's my favorite song by him because it's beautiful and yes like getting a hug. I love Billy. ♥️
Probably my favourite Billy Idol song too, along with Sweet Sixteen.
I love this song. Alex just hates the 80s and he won't like anything from that decade unless it's a throwback to the 70s or throw-forward to the 90s.
Tell him Led Zeppelin is from the 80s and they'll become shit in his eyes. For someone with a RUclips music reaction channel he should be more open minded
Especially when his OWN music sounds totally 80s. It's just weird.
@@singing894 I wasn't going to say anything, but yes, that opening to their videos sounds straight from the 80s.
@@Verlopil on a.m. radio lol
The 80's were so great, some people just have to hate.....
Hey guys I'm glad Andy brought up the change in pace for the album.
And NO you don't want the same sound through a whole album. One thing you guys need to realize is that from the golden age of rock through the 90s bands made ALBUMS. A series of songs that were thoughtfully put together in sequence and meant to be played that way. Pulling songs out of this context takes away from the whole. Just sayin', it's a different experience than today's playlist mentality.
I agree
You don’t want the same sound through a whole album? Don’t tell that to AC/DC.
@@strqrt70 listen to Ride On
You are not kidding, we hardly bought singles compared to albums and mostly listen to a side all the way through, if not the whole thing. The Golden Age of Rock from 1964 to 1994 is as good a stretch of music that anyone can hear.
ALSO the record companies had most of the say on the album.... if they wanted more radio play you made a song like this.... if they wanted you to wear spandex and makeup you wore it.
Billy Idol is an interesting case. Definite rocker but you listen to him do acoustic stuff and you realize how good he is.
As a history nerd and lover of what each decade has to offer, I totally appreciate Andy's ratings taking the time and place into account. Alex always talks about hating the '80s but it feels more like "this song is x, y, and z from the '80s so therefore I can't like it." And I totally used to be that way too, but then I realized I needed to lighten up and stop shutting it out bc it was what I thought I couldn't like. I also love dancing and good luck not having your ass shake to some synth pop.
Amazing how an open mind can make life so much more enjoyable. I used to be the same way about different types of music, but now I find something to enjoy in most styles of music (not every song or artist, but every style has something to offer).
I didn't care that much for 80s music in the 80s. I've always been more of a 60s and 70s music fan. Of course the 80s was the decade I was in both high school and college and that is always a special time for music listening for most everyone. Because of this, as time has gone by I have become much more of a fan of 80s music. That said I still prefer 60s and 70s but there's not a decade before or since that could come close to edging out the 80s for third place in my view. I think we've lost a lot of creativity over the years. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed plenty of music from the 90s until today, it's just that with each passing decade since the 80s there seems to be less original music going on. Think of all the different genres that were big during each of the decades from the 50s to the 80s. There just haven't been that many in each of the decades since. Beyond that, artists from the 60s, 70s, and 80s are still big today as newer generations such as Alex and Andy here as well as scores of other reaction channels discover them. The interest in current music is different for many reasons, not all of which have to do with creativity, but overall it's hard to imagine the hits of the last 20 years or so lasting 40 or 50 years into the future the way 60s, 70s, and 80s music has.
I think also Alex tends to say that it's so 80s, that they put it in to sound 80s. But that's a very retrospective point of view. It doesn't take into account what it was like at the time. Often this stuff is cutting edge, creating new sounds that became identified with the 80s later due to their popularity.
The funny thing is that not all 80s music sounds like typical 80s music.
I love dancing too, I can sit and watch it for hours 8-P
I can't be objective about this song. it's Top 10 of the decade for me. It's got this dreamy quality to it and yes, it's very '80s but done to perfection.
@Richard Dickson it's the same for me. I have so many great memories attached to this song, and I love the dreaminess.
same. it's on playlists i have for basically zoning out. one of those songs that for whatever reason helps me chill a bit.
Word...
@@allisonreed7682 Same here, a lot of great memories from this period. Met my wife in 1982 (still married), loved hanging out with our families many of whom are gone now. Her twin sister loved Billy Idol, Sting, Squeeze, etc. She's passed away and it reminds me of her in a way.
Edit: actually, I shouldn't say met her in 1982. I met her in 3rd grade (1967) and was in school with her through the years, but it was later, in 1982, when we were reacquainted and started our relationship.
Agreed
LOL. Andy has a total man crush on Billy. He's touring now. Better get Andy a ticket!
He's barely in the rabbit hole. It only gets cooler.
Everyone is starting to your again! Get 'em while they're hot. It might be now or never. There's a few B. Idol songs I like but this one, not so much. That clapping thing was annoying to me.

It’s ok Andy, I’ve had a crush on Billy Idol for 30 years. 😋😁
Haha same here!
The breakdown gets me every time!! That alone makes it worth a listen. It'll grow on you the more times you hear it. Stop hating on the 80's!! It was a great time to be a kid. The music was over produced, but often had buried soul and meaning.
"An 80's song that sounded like the 80s"- Alex. It's the "water is wet" moment for Alex.
"This got 80s quick" The thing is most of the 80s was TRYING to sound like this!
I've liked this song for close to 40 years.
When you're older you'll learn to appreciate the 80's more. :-p
Guessing these lads weren't even a sparkle in their dad's eye yet.
Billy is active on IG. Give him a shout. He’s the type who would give an interview.
He definitely would!
I thought the same thing!Wonderful personality. Generous, fun with a whole lotta talent. Billy Idol interview PLEASE. But first, listen to more of his music and be informed if you are going to chat. I sort of feel bad you guys can’t just listen to full albums when you love an artist and have to wait for reactions. That’s a long time before you can get to hearing and enjoying all the music!
@@DreamsSketcher that's all right and true, but what about the SHIRTS?!

Add me on to the "Dancing With Myself" as the next must hear one train. Also, Andy is correct. As a teen in the 80's, this was totally a girl jam for them to swoon over Billy while staring at his poster on their wall.
Billy was another 70s talent who cut his chops in the 70s meat grinder and was successful in the 80s as well
I'm sure "swooning" wasn't the only thing teenage girls were doing while staring at their Billy Idol poster.

@@mysticmavens811 No shame in that. Lol
Back in the day artists did a variety of songs. Stop bashing the 80's. Closed minded much? So many styles and experimentation in music and production came from that time. It happened that synths were coming into their own during the 80's. But man, there's a much larger variety from the 80's than any other period. Peace.
Right On. Alex is a real snob when it comes to the greatest multi-media renaissance the world ever knew - at one point 5,000 artists/week were flooding into LA (then there was NY and London). Old acts were coming out of retirement to record some of their best stuff during the 80's. They didn't even have common sense to watch the Official Music Video! These two haven't learned much. Doubtful they could hold a candle to the D List.
Easy there. I'm a fan of the 60s and 70s primarily. At 72 I'm kinda a grumpy music snob...However IMO there was an "occasional" good to great song in the 80s. I like this and was a huge fan of "Rule the World".
1000% agree
Yep, this one of those tunes that you had to be there during that time. Also, the more you hear it, it starts to grow on you. It actually has better staying power than Rebel Yell. . . .give it several listening.. . . .
Every time I hear this song, I'm back in 1984.
This is such an amazing driving song. Check it out again the next time you're on a long, open road!

You can’t do Billy Idol without watching the music video. The 80’s was all about MTV and if you don’t watch the video, YOU’RE MISSING OUT. 😁❤️
This tune is much cooler when you're watching the video. His vocals are completely underrated and he has a great sense of humor. Steve is a legendary guitarist!
Dancing with Myself is a must listen but I think you got it right Andy, he's just Charasmatic. He has a great role in the Wedding Singer that you should check out!! Keep on Rocking guys!!
Alex would stroke out to all the 80s music...... Do you wanna hurt me .... would put him at critical mass

@@tjtampa214 That is where the full Charisma Andy is talking about really shines!! I agree with you.
Definitely a movie they should hit, and I'm not even an Adam Sandler fan. "Get out of my Van Halen shirt before you jinx the band and they break up."
Alex can't believe Andy doesn't agree with him. So much confidence about something he clearly doesn't understand and is biased against. Free your mind Alex and the rest will follow. Bravo to Andy for defending his choice.
It needs to be understood, it is artists like Idol that created the 80s sound. Music was entering the computer/technology age. More creative and eclectic than the stuff being pumped out on computer today.
He has a new song out, bitter taste, about his motorcycle accident in the early 90s. It’s becoming one of my favorite Billy Idol songs ever
It's brilliant
I gotta check that out! Thanks!😘👍
I really like it too!
I'll have to give it a listen! I was in the hospital (Cedars Sinai in West Hollywood) and on the same floor (5th Floor) at the same time as Billy Idol after his motorcycle accident. Also on our floor: Sammy Davis Jr. Pretty cool hospital stay!
@@greggw.brevoort WOW! I love Sammy Davis Jr(RIP my man!)!
Did you know he had a glass eye from a car accident when he was a young man, AND that he was Jewish? He was the coolest cat of the Rat Pack, imho.
When you guys say it sounds like the eighties, I take that as a compliment.
Steve Stevens is one of the greatest rock guitarists ever. I don't think Billy Idol would have had much of a career without him.
Billy already was a star before he ever met Steve, Steve took him to another level.
Good song writer too. Was huge on Rebel Yell.
I agree 100 percent
This track engulfs me every time I hear it. I think it's the baseline and the collapse maybe a combination of that plus everything else! Love this one.
It's a Pop song from the '80s. Don't overthink it - just feel it. It's a piece of "Brill Building" media (combining elements of Post-Punk, New Wave, & Synth-Pop) that was composed & engineered for commercial radio play, to sell lps, & add some color to the lives of kids watching MTV in 1984. On that metric, as a composition toward that intent, it succeeds masterfully. An MTV Pop-Rock classic. But, no, it's not Three Dog Night.
Now that you're digging the 80's, go back and hit Billy Squier again. "In the Dark" will make you forget that embarrassing video entirely.
Agree!!! In the Dark please
Yes!!!
Don’t apologize for liking Billy Idol. His music is incredible. In fact the entire Rebel Yell album is fantastic, every single song is great. Give it a listen and you will see
One of my favourite bridges of all time: "Steal a car and go to Las Vegas, ooh, the gigolo pool" - so awesome...
I was a sophomore in high school when this song came out, and I think my generation received it well. Very melodic. I remember the video Was intense, maybe a little scary even…
There was a lot of religious language in the song. Billy Idol’s father parents were devout Anglicans.
I'm about the same age. Usually I could care less about the video, but in this case it heightens the experience. Then on subsequent listens you imitate the lip curl and slap your ass on the claps.
@@daneng3641 Yes I think the video actually enhanced the song
@@daneng3641 Yep, I'm 52, right around the same age. At the time.the melodic balladry of the song combined with the bad ass bridge was definitely a game changer. I completely get it that younger generations might not get it, I'm just glad I was around to experience it 1st hand...
In his autobiography, Billy Idol says the song was inspired by a surreal French film about a surgeon who tried to fix his daughter's face repeatedly and failed. Not really based on anything religious.
@@drea4195 I agree that the song is not religious, but he does use liturgical language, turning holy water into wine, say your prayers, Believe, deceive, a lot of writers do that, they use stock theological imagery even if the song is not religious.
And in the Anglican church where Billy was raised, holy water is turned into wine and they do say their prayers.
After serving a year and a half overseas and listening exclusively to classic rock hearing Billy Idol was a breath of fresh air. A lot of people didn’t like the polished overproduced sound that was the eighties and excluded it from what they considered real rock but some of us just added in. Like Billy Joel said, “It’s Still Rock n Roll to me.
So you know and I don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but Billy based this on a 1960 French horror film, Les Yeux Sans Visage . Check it out to understand the background. I had a 12 inch 45 of Rebel Yell b/w Eyes Without A Face. Wonderful one-two punch. But then I loved 80s music at the time. YMMV.
I knew Alex wouldn’t let me down with his standard 80’s grade…😂
Yeah, a C- rating is so ridiculous!
It is, but they weren’t even alive for the 80’s so they don’t understand its value and impact at the time. To them, it’s “cringy”.
I’m 60 years old. 100% a seventies guy and I think this is a 10/10
The French backing vocals alone are worth 5/10
One of the coolest 80’s videos.
Mony mony was better😊
Cool, or not, videos were and are horrible for music.
That was my point - The Official Music Video is another dimension to the artist, which these 2 totally missed, and this was a good video. Tom Petty was a master of good m.videos too. Have Alex listen to Stray Cats and he'll think it's late 50's - but the Rockabilly Revival went all through the EIGHTIES!
@@jollyrodgers7272 Tom Petty, among many artists, hated music videos. And Petty was right….They’re ruinous. You inevitably see good music, good artists pushed aside in favor of acts that LOOK a certain way, as opposed to how good their music is. It becomes ALL about the look. It turns into selling jeans.
Some songs are an artifact of their time. This song was huge. Like, really huge. And it was Billy Idol's first Top 10 hit. If you were living then (like I was), then you would probably love this song. It was nice to hear Billy Idol do something different after several songs in a row of him screaming (which we also loved, so no hate there). This sounded different than other stuff on the radio at the same time. There was a uniqueness in the sound of this song that probably doesn't exist anymore. Given the eerie tone of the song, I think calling it a "ballad" isn't accurate. This is a slow paced rock song with a breakout in the middle that absolutely rules. It's cool if you don't like it, though. To each their own.
Alex looks like "There's no place like home, there's no place like home"
Yup. Could have predicted Alex’s reaction. 🙂

Billy worked hard in the 70s and did well until the wreck. His biggest hit was probably his version of MONEY money a late 60s song by Tommy James. Let's face it. Almost all of the 80s music that was worth a hoot was 60s and/or 70s music, re-done a little.
GOOOOOOOD MORNING A&A FAMILY!
☮️❤️♾️
Good Morning, @John H!
You both really needed to grow up in the 80’s to really appreciate the music of that era. It was awesome!!! Embrace the 80’s music and go with it
Damn, I LOVE '80s music! Billy's voice is so gorgeous in this song.
I honestly forgot that I was watching a reaction. This song just pulled me in and took me away to some other peaceful parallel. I had forgotten about this song and how much I really like it so thanks for the mental bump. Smooth and mellow and oh! that voice. He could set me dreaming anytime. This is definitely an afterglow song.
So this is a good song for me to listen to when I'm driving. Especially at night. I don't really pay attention to the music I pay more attention to his voice it's kind of hypnotic and it's something to sing along to in my head.
This was a huge hit but not Billy's best. Hot In The City was more fun and has some cool pauses and riffs. Billy was "edgy" pop music in the early 80s. It's hard to judge this type of music 35+ years later, with so much distance from the culture and context.
I think his music really stands up. We loved him but sort of treated Idol as a cheesy joke at the time. He played this up in his cameo role in The Wedding Singer movie years later. He knew and has a sense of humour about it. But we took him for granted. We were so spoiled for choice then. Listening now, he was quite prolific with hits, great song writing, great voice, stage presence. Extremely talented. Some songs have a quintessential 80s sound, but still, fantastic.
Billy emulates Elvis more than Jim. He was a big fan from the lip curl to the voice.
Oh yes! I remember his video fir To Be A Lover. Much lip curl going on
This is a classic critique from Alex where he can't get past the 80's production values (i.e. style) to appreciate the substance. Alex is so anti-80s, he starts at an F rating. So a C- is a win. Maybe for Alex, this song is a good candidate for a 2021 modern re-make without all of the 80s stylings that he hates so much. What you guys missed entirely is the fantastic melodic bass line, drum work, and chord progression and the beautiful build to the massive release of pent up energy on the bridge. I disagree with Alex that the bridge shouldn't necessarily be the best part of the song. The bridge a lot of times is the mountain pass (the high point) of the song that you go through to get to your destination.
You guys need to work on your appreciation of musical foreplay. I'm not surprised. Since you were born, you've lived in a world of instant-on gratification and media hyper-stimulus. So, it's tough sometimes to be patient for the build up in a song. The guitar solo, while not a shredder at all, blended some really nice atmospheric sounds, which is an art in itself. It's one thing to have a million different sound effect pedals and a tremolo. It's entirely something else to be an artist and know how to get the most out of them. The Edge of U2 is another guitarist who understands the power of simplicity and minimalism, while also creating an amazing atmosphere, without making it all about him just to show off how fast he can play. Still, all of that said, I appreciate your take as always.
Amen.
@Geo Dio me too.
Kurtis, what's so surprising to me is that A&A aren't "patient", as you said, with THIS song, considering that they listened to ( and enjoyed) many bands that required a LOT of patience in the past. They listened to Rush, Yes, Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, etc., yet have an issue with the lack of immediate gratification that you speak of. I can only attribute that to a hindsight approach in listening. I've found myself irked by Alex's blase criticisms of songs that were PERFECT for their time period, yet could only fall short by HIS ( today's) standards. Andy seems to understand that it's nonsensical to judge in that way. An unfortunate tendency is to unduly focus on the technicalities, rather than the song as a whole, for example: Alex , rather than enjoying Blind Faith's song "Can't Find My Way Home" for the song itself, chose to fixate on what he called a "too predictable" crash cymbal.
@@lisasmithline1386 I LOVE “Can’t find my way home.” Winwood’s vocals are hauntingly beautiful. Listen, I love these guys. I know it’s different growing up today vs. living through the 80s. It’s always that way. Most of us thought big band music from the 40s sounded dated and uncool, which time wise is the equivalent for today’s college kids. So I don’t want to come down on them too hard. I genuinely like hearing their takes on music they’re hearing for the first time, and many times, they bring up great points, that as someone who has heard these songs all my life, I’ve either overlooked, forgotten, or taken for granted.
My main point here was to try to get A&A to place themselves in the 80s, without the benefit of everything that’s come since then; and place the song in its proper historical perspective. Musically, the 80s were all about experimentation with all of the new synth and effects sounds that just we not technologically possible prior to that time. And producers and artists went wild with that experimentation. Sometimes they had great success and sometimes looking back it sounds really dated. Timelessness is a great measurement for great music, but not the only measure. And that’s all I was trying to point out. Thanks for your reply. I’m with you.
@@Critical_Thinker858 , I also love that song ; my ONLY criticism being that It's too short. I think you mistake my beef with A&A ; I like these guys quite a lot, and I truly LOVE watching them hear things for the first time (Songs such as The Who's "Love, Reign 'Oer Me), but I can't help but be a bit perturbed when a young person judges what was new and interesting to original listeners as boring, tired, cheesy, unimaginative, or technically imperfect. The funny thing is that I'd give the guys far more leeway if they had the slightest clue about the songs/ bands they were about to review. They often make the most obvious blunders, i.e : "I think maybe James Taylor might've been a bit of a songwriter?"
I agree with Andy regarding the B rating. I like the dream-like sound in the song. I didn't know that was an "80's" thing but I like it anyway. 😼
Alex wanted the song over right after the bridge was finished and they went back to the slow vibe. Eyes clearly rolled.
The 80s aren’t all bad guys. Every artist had some slower songs. Check out some other slower new wave songs with a little more substance. There’s a long list, but Save a Prayer by Duran Duran and Saved By Zero by the Fixx come to mind.
Would love to hear some more U2 like Bad or Red Hill Mining Town
I've mentioned U2 a couple of times, no luck.
They really just need to hit Joshua Tree.
I second Red Hill Mining Town...
Great call. Maybe also One Tree Hill.
Would love some U2. "Until the end of the World" would be great🔥. They did Bullet the Blue Sky on a live a couple months back. Everyone was req. It on chat
The thing is this song is very 80s but when this song came out, it was totally unique. This is a song that influenced a trend, not tried to catch on a trend. Billy Idol was the inventor of pop-punk. Do you have Green Day without Billy Idol? Probably. But, he certainly helped.
This was a hit for its time. Casey Kasem played it. That’s all that mattered in the early/mid 80s.
Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Up there with Wolfman Jack.!!!
Takes me back
King biscuit flour hour???
I'm Old 👴😁👍
If you lived in the 80s, made a song in the 80s, then it makes since it would sound 80s. Your judging a song from the outside looking in. That is an unfair assessment not taking into account the then current context and culture. This song brought in many new fans for Billy Idol. It was a major hit. It did exactly what it was supposed to do.
I rate this song a solid A. Not all songs need to be baggers to be great.
This song is trippy to me, makes me feel high when I hear it and I love songs like that
That's actually my favorite song of his, it's more complex than his other hits.
I'm really a sucker for well done catchy 80's stuff with atmospheric production like this. It isn't always what I want, but sometimes it just hits the spot. I call it "comfort music". It's the kind of stuff you hate to love, but it just feels good when you're feeling kind of 'bleh'.
I've never heard this song before (this era is kinda my blind spot between my parents' music and what I grew up with) but the section without the bridge has clearly influenced several more recent bands I enjoy. That's always a fun discovery!
this and flesh for fantasy are some of my top billy idol songs
Such a BEAUTIFUL song! 🥰
Thanks for doing Billy, guys!
I'd LOVE more!! ❤
1980's was a fantastic decade for rock n roll. Try listening to something from Jane's Addiction Nothings Shocking album. Great alternative rock.
The Mountain Song.
Wow, they under-rated this song!
Aww, this is my favorite of Billy Idol. Maybe this song has to grow on you. After all these years, I still love this song. It’s cool, haunting and when it picks up, full of attitude.
Alex, I almost always resonate with your takes... but, this is where we diverge. It's actually my favorite song of his! It's deep, authentic, and sad.
Probably his best song idol and Steve Stevens song writers Stevens is idol guitar player great job guys
"White Wedding" and "Eyes without a Face" are my favs of Billy Idol. Listen live without the studio-effects and the songs stand. His Guitarist (Steven Stevens) is one of my favourite not-so-well-known-but-great guitarists (together with Pink's Justin Derrico) .
The best thing about 80's music was it gave me the easiest choice to delve deep into 70's music... from disco to 80's...I completely rebelled into 70's only music
The 1980s were the era of MTV. Every single song that was a hit, every single one, got imprinted on listener's minds through the music video. This song is an excellent example, and you might consider watching the accompanying video for your reviews of 1980s chart hits, rather than the audio tracks alone. The two often went together as a package.
Absolute banger, this. I too don't care for the overtly synthetic sound of much 80s music but IMO this is one notable exception that makes the best of the 80s sound; it lives in its time without drowning in it. I suspect it might have gotten a higher rating (at least from non-80s-hating Andy) had "Rebel Yell" not been the expectation-setter.
When I first heard this song on the radio as a kid, I thought he was singing "How's about a date" instead of "Eyes without a face."
Lol makes more sense!
Yes! Damn, I just wrote the same comment. I guess it was a common misunderstanding. Now it's time for me to acknowledge/admit that I never understood this f'n song. Loved the crunchy bridge, though.
So did my friend and when I’m with her we still sing that!!🤣🤣
Shocked that you didn't like "Eyes" that much, it's ok, if you give it some time it will grow on you.
I see a lot of support for "Dancing With Myself", that's cool. But since Andy mentioned that Billy sound like an 80s Jim Morrison why don't you consider Billy's "L.A. Woman" cover of The Doors? Billy was a fan and he played a little part in "The Doors" biopic you watched already.
Let us know which one you enjoyed better: the original or the punkier Billy Idol version.
Ah. The obligatory 80s Power Ballad. Every 80s artist had one.
Stevie Stevens rips on the guitar. Definitely do Dancing with Myself next
It'll be in the back of your mind and it'll call you back. It's a great tune. It has a great groove, and the bridge and Steve Stevens' guitar solo are masterful, you were just expecting something else.
This song always reminds me of driving in the summer with the windows down on a dark road in the country.
Love reading the comments and the love for this song. 👌🏼 His voice is really amazing here. So smooth and beautiful. Melts me like butter 😂 Definite Ear Candy.🍭
Halloween is just a few weeks off, Andy. Time to start gathering the pieces for your Billy Idol costume! 😁
...and work on your sneer.
This is a phenomenal song. Read the lyrics and you will appreciate it even more.
40 yrs later I still love the bassline.
the genius of billy's partner and music director Steve Stevens! the man and guitar behind the voice, so many killer riffs and sound effects were ground breaking
Such a beautiful song 🎧
I'm sure you've answered this at some point. I know you guys live a little way apart from each other. Do you do a week's worth of videos and change shirts etc. or actually get together every other day?
Kinda depends, sometimes we record a bunch at a time usually we do at least three
@@andyandalex What about the shirts?
Right on,@@skiprockjr.6881... c'mon, guys, address the shirts question!
@@andyandalex SHIRTS SHIRTS SHIRTS
So often I see the same shirts . It’s cool. No worries! I know you guys have a lot going on and then this hit channel too! It’s great you fit it all in! Thanks.
Next idea. Let’s send them shirts! Lol what size are you guys? Hard to judge. Have a great day.
I heard this on my way to work, cranked it on the bridge just like I did all those years ago driving to class. Some things never change.
Andy: quit letting Alex influence you. We know you like the 80s. It was clear you liked "How Soon Is Now" more than you admitted. Leave Alex in the 70s, get your hair mousse and parachute pants and join us in the 80s.
😂
I agree with Andy - Rebel Yell is an amazing song....one of the best songs of the 80s.
This is a smooth Billy idol song. Less yelling haha
The title Eyes Without a Face comes from an avant-garde French film from 1960, Billy Idol saw it and drew inspiration from it, and this is absolutely my favorite Billy Idol song.
I may have had similar thoughts when I was younger, but now at 50, this is the only Billy Idol song that I enjoy…
