Hello JayVee, For information, "Les Yeux sans visage" (Eyes without face) is a French - Italian horror film, in black and white, directed by Georges Franju, released in 1960 and adapted from the novel by Jean Redon, published in 1959 in the "Angoisse" collection of Fleuve noir editions . Besides, if you pay attention to the lyrics that are sung by the female choirs, then you clearly hear: "Les Yeux sans visage" said in French in the text cause its a reference to this movie.

As Above So Below Yes! I think it's also because I grew up hearing the song before I studied French, so it just wouldn't have occurred to me.
It's from the title of a French Horror film from the 1930s (If I remember correctly). The film is about a French doctor who had a daughter with a facial disfigurement. she wears a mask covering her face and her father basically is looking for a facial replacement from dead patients. It's creepy in an old timey, horror way. Worth checking out if you like that kind of thing.

This was my dad's favorite song. Except instead of "Eyes Without A Face," my dad would sing at the top of his lungs, "Howzabout a Date," during the chorus. He honestly thought those were the words.

Billy can get real smooth. Idol's voice shines like a "crooner" on his slower tracks, imo. "Eyes" is my favorite w that slow steady groove, the hook is mellowlicious! Check out is other mellow track, "Catch My Fall", "Flesh for Fantasy" so you can hear how he owns his low (voice) register. But onto favorite uptempo, can't-help-but-dance-along-to song is "Dancing with Myself" (go figure!). It's really fun!

Eyes w/o a Face was the first music video I saw on MTV in August of 1984 and I have been a HUGE Idol fan for over 36 years.
Ohhh you went with one of his "mild" songs... you've got to check out "White Wedding", "Mony Mony", and "Dancing with Myself". To me he is Punk Rock, but that is my own personal opinion. He has that "bad boy" LOOK lol

He is definitely rock, ranging from punk to cyber to slow sexy rock...but his voice always has a bit of sex appeal in it, just like jim morrison of the doors did or marvin gaye or al green or prince or lynyrd skynyrd or elvis (and he does the lip curl a good bit like elvis too). The Dead Next Door is my all-time favorite slow thoughtful song by him.
