It always baffles me how some people can be so popular and memorable while others fade into obscurity even when they have everything working in their favor. I guess part of it is having the right people backing you up and one having the tenacity to push through, and the other part being timing and luck. At least we'll always remember Q for her voice and the amazing songs she brought to life 😓

As you say it's sad that she never received the credit or reaped the benefit of her talent but she has left an indelible legacy that bands like 'Indelible Scars' and 'Tone of Arc' have honored with outstanding cover versions of her iconic track. There are so many genius songs sitting on vinyl, tapes, CDs, and especially hard drives that never will reach a wider audience, maybe because the creator didn't intend it to be spread or because it lacked whatever it took for it to become famous.
Also, so many talents out there who never realized their potential.

Thanks for this video. I first became fully aware of the song three weeks ago, after vaguely remembering hearing/seeing it on "Silence of the Lambs". Diane Luckey/Q Lazzarus had an amazing voice and died way too young. It is a truly great song. William Garvey's songwriting in this case was sublime. It is spiritual, haunting, melancholic, melodic and uplifting all at the same time. Someone should do a full length documentary on the song and her life.
    RIP Diane.
