You are literally saving my life with this video!! I'm an intermediate/experienced "rectangle knitter" (scarves, blankets, dish towels) and was looking to delve deeper into garment construction, but I'm super intimidated by yokes/sleeves. Many thanks!!
I learned to knit when I was 16. It’s been twenty years, and so just started knitting my first sweater. I picked a simple balloon sleeve sweater, and I thought, okay, this will take me a while. Here we go! I think I can do it! I’m honestly kind of mad that I never tried on before. It’s been an absolute joy. You should knit a sweater. It’s easier than you think.
LOOK IN THE DESCRIPTION BOX FOR THE FREE PATTERNS hehe i forgot to say some of them in the video. ALSO, so many good suggestions for beginners in the comments so i compiled a list in the description box for even more beginner/easy knitting patterns!
I have been knitting for years and have made garments before. I like having projects that are simple and easy to complete. These patterns look really cute! Thank you for the recommendations. I will definitely be putting them on my list of items to create.
I just started knitting, and I am working on a vest pattern on RUclips. Next, I do want to try a sweater, but I just needed some inspiration. Thank you so much!
hi and thank you for the video. i love the cardigan & a couple of the jumpers. i spin & make my own yarn, so these patterns give me a start for using my yarn. thanks again
Definitely saved the waffle cardigan. I’ve been wanting to make a cardigan for a while now and I’m obsessed with the texture of waffle fabric. Thanks for the ideas!
Hey there!! Wow I‘m so glad I found this video cause I was looking for the instructions for your patchwork pullover for some time now and couldn’t really find it. What did you do differently compared to the original instructions?:)
@@stephtime I’m dying to get the new Ottawa Cardigan kit by Brenda Lam and one of these days I’m gonna splurge on some cashmere for Scarf No. 1 by My Favorite Things Knitwear
How did you modify the sweater you are wearing in the video? Also what type/color yarn did you use for it? I love the earthy tones and really want to make one for myself! 😊
Hey! I have all the details listed in my IG post about the sweater. All of the colors are listed in the comments as well, I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick! My IG is @smlennox 🧡
I loved the colours you chose for patch work sweater, can you please share the brand and the colours of the yarn you used to knit this sweater please….
I bought quite a lot of patterns that are waiting for me in Ravelry library but this video is great! Didn’t know all these many free patterns and they are lovely! Thank you :) P.S. Many of the summer tops here are actually not free so I think you should mention it!!!
I wanna thank you for your effort , I really really appreciate, you are saving lifes But most of them are now paid-patterns in their website .., any solution !!?
these are great! What yarn do you use for your jumpers and cardigans? Where do you buy them? :) I find it difficult to judge what would feel nice on the skin
i love a good soft wool, but my skin is kind of weird with wool! if you're gonna go that route, The Wool or Crazy Sexy Wool are highly touted as super soft and awesome (though a bit expensive!), I actually like cotton/poly and poly yarns. I really like working with Lion Brand Yarns and Wool-Ease Thick and Quick is my go-to because it's accessible(joanns always has good coupons), inexpensive and has a good color selection. i have no issues with it on my skin!
@@stephtime Thank you! Would you be making any knitting videos? As you have knitted so many things. Trying to knit my very first jumper but not sure if I have the right weight/ type yarn. Fingers crossed!
Hey! This was based off of a pattern called The Patchwork Pullover by ShanaKay Salmon. I changed some things, all of which i outlined in an instagram post! It's a gorge pattern!
Hello, it's been quite some time since last time I did knitt, please I'm going to neet a sweater for my son and I don't remember how many stitches to cast on and how to measure, can somebody give me a hand. Thank you
Okay hear me out. I'm not a knitter, although I've *tried* in the past. But I want to take it up again -- do that BOO sweater in Freddy Kreuger colors for halloween! Maybe make a Scary Terry reference & put the word "BITCH" on it instead hahahaha I crack myself up.
I know that some of the patterns are for free and I would like to pay the recommended amount but on at least one of them they only except PayPal and I do not use PayPal nor do I want to frustrating
Stephanie wonderful video. SMB is such a great show. You are so great at singing. I miss so desperately my Lauren and U and Ji Young, and Sally as well very much. Lauren i love you. Grimes just released a new music video Shimigami Eyes. And Taylor Swift did the big new song that was over 10 min. Good song. I have a bunch of ripped and shredded work clothes, want to repair them. ::ZORAK:: Mitsubishi Mirage
Ah young people -- you really like your bulky knits and having it go fast. I would like to impress on you the joy of the slower knit -- like slow food movement as opposed to fast food -- slower knitting with finer fibers has much more satisfaction in the outcome. And also there are so many beautiful fine fibers to learn about that are not itchy, that part of the knitting experience is exploring these. It is especially important because the acrylic fibers that you throw in the washing machine and then throw away when they lose their shape or are no longer comfortable, are also deeply impacting the environment with every wash killing the water life and water quality and now seeping into air quality . These acrylic fibers that are oil based plastic basically, are not even warm if you live in a cold climate and have none of the benefits of fine natural fibers. So do explore the different fibers available as part of your beginning experience with knitting and maybe even learn to spin your own yarn as part of it. A simple spindle is a great way to start . Bonne chance.
The Jess sweater is worked top down and is seamless and the I’m Obsessed Jumper is worked in the round bottom up! I think it’s good to try both, especially depending on what tools you have available to you! I started with a seamed sweater and was okay 😉
@@stephtime hehe as someone who has been knitting in the round sweaters for several years after a few seamed sweaters I never want to go back to seamed
I want to make all of them

So many great patterns! Love the look of the Vicky's vest, esp since it knits up with chunky yarn!
yes! i think it's a great beginner project for that reason, big yarn shows progress so quickly!
Can you please share what yarn you used for your patchwork sweater?? The color combo is so pretty!

Weird question - what's the thing on your desk that looks like it's made of terracotta? Is it for incense or something? 🤔
Start knitting shawl with one stitch.
Is it possible to adapt this project to loom knitting? I don't know how to knit with needles. Thanks
Hi Linda! You may be able to knit panels flat and seam them together, but the wrist, waist and neckhole ribbing will probably need to be knit!
❤Thx
