This is a year old or today 2024 October 6 and maybe you will see this or not. This all makes sense to what I feel like I have .
I don’t run but I walk and I was building up to 2 miles a day on a track in a gym. I’m on carpet track. Earlier this year I had severe sciatica and as it developed, planter fasciitis what a joke. I was coming out of that when all of a sudden I started to developing pain and swelling in my foot, but not my ankle between there. after a few days I got an x-ray my primary care doctor thinks it’s arthritis. I have an appointment with a podiatrist Tuesday for him to review and I’m taking your video for him to review. My ankle and foot have been swollen and walking is not easy for me. I still dealing with sciatica which it seems like the old song the hipbones connected to whatever and in my case, it is connected to whatever.

@@DocOnTheRun I went to my doctors appointment on Monday and he said “same foot”, I said yes different side and I’d like to tell you what I think it is and he was very welcoming. I said you know we are smart now we get to ask questions from smart doctors on there. So the doctor told me, what to look for and said it was sinus Tarsis. He took my foot and he pushed on that area and he said is this spot and I said yes and if you keep doing that, it’s gonna keep hurting. He gave me his steroid shot and told me in a couple of days, it should be better and it has been one day and it is better. I’m continuing with some ibuprofen and Tylenol. I’m so happy I saw your video.

Besides running on the opposite side of the road, what else can you recommend? I was hoping to see more options for treatment. Thank you!

I cannot make any recommendations without understanding you, your foot type, your goals, your history of injury, treatment or running form. If needed we could get on a call to discuss in detail.

Binge-watching your videos! They’re truly excellent.
I just learned of Sinus Tarsi Syndrome a few days ago. I thought it was ankle pain-exactly the confusion that is the subject of this video!
I’m trying to learn as much as I can, and do everything I can, so that I can continue to run every day.
How do you think about mild-moderate pain that is at its worst when *walking* (post-run)? I’ve started to wear running shoes inside my house instead of walking around barefoot, which I hope helps. What am I risking by continuing to run while I’m experiencing this?

Thank you for watching and I hope you found the video helpful. I can't offer individualized medical advice based on that amount of information. However if you wanted to discuss your situation, we could figure out whether or not you might be able to walk or do other exercises to maintain your running fitness while you still heal. If you think that might be helpful we could get on a webcam call or phone call to discuss in detail.
