What about the invencible scarab strategy? one scarab and 30 engineers, if you don't use Anders is petty annoying. And the covenant leaders were op when they were level up. the profet can spawn units behind any base as the ODST. Also I think hunters are the most polyvalent unit in the game, if you combine them with wolverines are petty tough.
Noobs always get a horde and either have them sit by when their allies get attacked, or do bullshit rambo attacks without letting their teamates know and they end up getting destroyed.
Tje super scarab works pretty well in some situation, for example in the map eden the are 2 very narrow ways in right and in left sides. If you put a scarab there the enemies units can not go all together. Scorpion have to go 2 each time so the scarab can not be destroyed there except if you have the mac cannon improved to the maximum. And I am not mentioning the covenant leader...
Well the gap in difficulty between heroic and legendary in the classic Halo is huge, remember at 12yo not fucking clearing the first stage in legendary halo2, but managing to reach stage 4 within the same time spent. Good times

I quite often only defend my AI allies then let them do all the offensive work. Makes for some pretty cool AI battles. But yes they are terrible in the early stages and don't do much to defend themselves from rush attacks
The Odst strat isn't even that OP. It only worked so well because the AI is stupid. Scorpion rush is the best strat. 4 scorpions out by 10 minutes can devastate any unready opponent(Against players this works much better). An even better strat is the super turtle on the docks. Cobras hold the choke point, and wolvergenes patrol in search of any enemy air.

Sean Stack Ryan scorpion tank rushing is not meta, warthog rushes and covenant leader rushes combined or alone easily beat tanks. Except in 1v1 where the game is a lot more balanced and many more troops are viable

Sean Stack Ryan with good opponent you will die if you you dont rush in either game, both gamers have players who will not rush and just build up hoping they aren’t rushed. Building infantry out of your base isn’t that important as the base infantry are really bad against almost all other early game troops so it’s not that hard to defend yourself. Honestly I think building warthogs out of your base is much more powerful as they are one of the best units in halowars 1 because of their mobility, cost and damage.
When I did the warthog rush I felt like the cut scene of the spearhead in halo reach. Warthog were petty fun to use, they were pretty fast. I loved to combine it with the improved hornets of Anders, you could reach any point in the map pretty quickly.
This is true but Halo Wars 2 ain't bad. It's just different, and to be fair it's hard to be better than an absolute legend like the original Halo Wars.
I was so hyped for HW2, but for whatever reason I don't like it. Also the waypoint system is way worse and locking base upgrades and tech levels together is really bad imo. Expanding early is also pretty difficult and sets you back a lot.

I remember one time I was playing against three legendary ai and I did a scarab rush. While I was spending ten minutes building resources, my teammates both died leaving me alone against three unsc legendary ai. After two hours of running around the map destroying and building bases, I finally managed to overcome all three opponents. No scarabs were lost in my match, but several engineers were.
One time on this map I had a warthog ramp into one of the ravines and survive after two minutes it drove straight up the cliff and was fine i love this game to death and most glitches are not impactful to the gameplay but are just plain funny I also think this is my favorite halo game bo2 is my fav game I spent weeks of time in this game without internet mind you so it’s good to see other people like it as much as me
When you haven’t played the game in forever and you decide to go on multiplayer only to spend eternity finding a match and 5 minutes being destroyed by some pros
My favorite strat in this game was to spam jackal snipers in the one game mode that give you more population for every base you own. The max possible population was 90 (or 99? I can't remember). Anyway, 90 jackal snipers brought enough firepower to melt any unit in the game in less than 3 seconds. It was glorious to watch. But they were total garbage vs structures. It'll literally take them about 5 or 10 minutes of constant shooting to destroy an enemy base. A pair or couple pairs of hunters could destroy a base in a fraction of the time, but no one could stand against the mighty jackal horde! Except ODST spam. That'll shit on jackals pretty hard.
OMG the high resolution and high frame rate looks 10x better than the 360 version! I have been missing so much. I still play this on xbox every once and a while, but I might have to get it on PC after seeing this!

this game is the best console designed RTS made bar none and is actually a pretty decent demonstration of ensemble studios talent when put under severe development constraints unfortunetly it has the pretty significant issue of being a CONSOLE DESIGNED RTS and even one of the best RTS studios in the industry couldn't save it, everything basicly had to be designed around macroing one large army and incentivised mono unit builds supported by hero units or super units the legendary AI cheats like mad, they will quite literally fabricate resources out of nothing even with a single base, whats interesting is the game has a "scaling AI" which i believe they added in the PC release that ramps up the difficulty the more you play it, even though this AI can supposedly go above and beyond legendary it never blatantly fabricates resources, atleast as far as im aware of Anders Hawk super unit upgrade is real cancerously overpowered in team games, think of it like WC3 undead wyrms+death knight against no human players the Arbiter is just a WC3 dirty blademaster without the buildup and triple hog rushing in team games was an excellent source of salty children tears on the original xbox version

Halo wars is pretty balanced, this game was drawn out to like 30-40 minutes with him winning vs AI. The AI knows what to do for the start but after that they go full potato.

I need no channel youtube! It is not bad, it is not great, it is the most ok game ever, mainly because of pay-to-win Blitz (NEVER play this mode) and because the story was mediocre. SPOILERS BEGIN: The Banished got their asses kicked by an old repurposed colony ship with half a crew and they barely survived a small Flood outbreak, which was probably contained by them and the Sentinels, meaning that it had no relevance to the game story in the first place. They even got their only CSS cruiser destroyed, instead of successfuly destroying the Spirit of Fire, which eliminated the tension and the high stakes. The campaign also ends in 3 cliffhangers. On top of that, Cutter and Anders have changed their appearances completely since the first game, destroying all logic. SPOILERS END. On the bright sight, the multiplayer is very fun. Just make sure to buy all the paid DLC leaders because they are the only OP ones. All in all, the campaign and multiplayer are both fun to play, gameplay wise, but there is more that can be wished by the story and the business practise of Microsoft.
ye i honestly felt the story in the sequel was just so basic, and of course the changing of look with anders and cutter was super dumb. Pretty sure they also changed the voice actors, but what can ya do. But I definitely do like the cliffhangers, and how the halo wars series hopefully won't just be some backwash series that gets little to no attention by the halo community
I go back and play this game all the time. This map legendary ai, best solution is rush the enemy bases to make sure the covenant don't build temples or at least have some flamethrower to take out the already summoned. Use small teams to take out rebels. After everything is said and done I end up with every base location on the map excluding the 2 covenant bases, ally was left to die so I have his base and I spawn lock buildings on the enemy bases until they build what I want them to build, usually a hall (barracks) and even legendary ai usually never deletes a constructed functional structure. So I control the war entirely. Choke points, EVERYTHING. It's the very definition of playing with ur food and is so satisfying
@Zxylo 5 If you turtle on the side where the bonus reactor is closest to the rebel base the scarabs cannot climb the cliffs there and have to come across the bridge.

I got this game when it came out when I was only around 9 or 10 and I played the shit out of it. Was really disappointed to see the pay to win bullshit in the second one
You can't play against the AI to say the game is broken. Spam ODST is fun but not OP at all, if your opponent had grizzlys or hawx he could have badly beat you.

I loved Vulture spam and warthog rushes, such a simple game yet so fun and with so many viable strategies.

Jackals are hard counters to odst though, one of the best. Only thing that beats it is scarab and flamethrowers

unfortunetly it has the pretty significant issue of being a CONSOLE DESIGNED RTS and even one of the best RTS studios in the industry couldn't save it, everything basicly had to be designed around macroing one large army and incentivised mono unit builds supported by hero units or super units
the legendary AI cheats like mad, they will quite literally fabricate resources out of nothing even with a single base, whats interesting is the game has a "scaling AI" which i believe they added in the PC release that ramps up the difficulty the more you play it, even though this AI can supposedly go above and beyond legendary it never blatantly fabricates resources, atleast as far as im aware of
Anders Hawk super unit upgrade is real cancerously overpowered in team games, think of it like WC3 undead wyrms+death knight against no human players
the Arbiter is just a WC3 dirty blademaster without the buildup and triple hog rushing in team games was an excellent source of salty children tears on the original xbox version

This game was hella good and at high competitive level was very fun, there was no single OP strategy any hero could beat every other, it was just all about knowing what’s coming and reacting accordingly

Halo wars is pretty balanced, this game was drawn out to like 30-40 minutes with him winning vs AI.
The AI knows what to do for the start but after that they go full potato.
Reminding you he's playing on legendary, so health, damage and ressource gather rate are increased for the enemy ai
Chandler Gloyd having legendary AI on my team is about as useful as having no team mate what so ever imo because they are so bad at the game

I need no channel youtube! It is not bad, it is not great, it is the most ok game ever, mainly because of pay-to-win Blitz (NEVER play this mode) and because the story was mediocre.
SPOILERS BEGIN: The Banished got their asses kicked by an old repurposed colony ship with half a crew and they barely survived a small Flood outbreak, which was probably contained by them and the Sentinels, meaning that it had no relevance to the game story in the first place. They even got their only CSS cruiser destroyed, instead of successfuly destroying the Spirit of Fire, which eliminated the tension and the high stakes. The campaign also ends in 3 cliffhangers. On top of that, Cutter and Anders have changed their appearances completely since the first game, destroying all logic. SPOILERS END.
On the bright sight, the multiplayer is very fun. Just make sure to buy all the paid DLC leaders because they are the only OP ones.
All in all, the campaign and multiplayer are both fun to play, gameplay wise, but there is more that can be wished by the story and the business practise of Microsoft.
ye i honestly felt the story in the sequel was just so basic, and of course the changing of look with anders and cutter was super dumb. Pretty sure they also changed the voice actors, but what can ya do. But I definitely do like the cliffhangers, and how the halo wars series hopefully won't just be some backwash series that gets little to no attention by the halo community

I go back and play this game all the time. This map legendary ai, best solution is rush the enemy bases to make sure the covenant don't build temples or at least have some flamethrower to take out the already summoned. Use small teams to take out rebels. After everything is said and done I end up with every base location on the map excluding the 2 covenant bases, ally was left to die so I have his base and I spawn lock buildings on the enemy bases until they build what I want them to build, usually a hall (barracks) and even legendary ai usually never deletes a constructed functional structure. So I control the war entirely. Choke points, EVERYTHING. It's the very definition of playing with ur food and is so satisfying
Legendary is pretty easy compared to automatic 140+. The game can get harder, much harder
I think at 160+ the AI can build a wraith every 5 seconds.
@Zxylo 5 If you turtle on the side where the bonus reactor is closest to the rebel base the scarabs cannot climb the cliffs there and have to come across the bridge.

@@lo8ner its the only way to make it more challenging. The AI is pretty crap in HW. It was never the main focus which is a shame because ensemble made some pretty good AI.
My strategy was to use captain cutters ability to spam odst to drown anyone who would dare exist

I got this game when it came out when I was only around 9 or 10 and I played the shit out of it. Was really disappointed to see the pay to win bullshit in the second one

You can't play against the AI to say the game is broken. Spam ODST is fun but not OP at all, if your opponent had grizzlys or hawx he could have badly beat you.
Except that Grizzlys suck in Halo Wars (compared to Scorpions that is)

@smithy thats not true scorpions have a way less powerful special ability and less health
@smithy will admit the upgrade is not that significant but its 10-15% increased damage
