this is the saga of an old VW... they are brilliant.. but everything has to be just perfect for them to operate right... but when you get them all sorted, they are amazing.. thanks for sharing your journey.
I have wanted one of these since I was in my 20's... It definitely pays when you have a qualified mechanic working on your equipment... Thx for taking us along with u.. BTW I could hear you perfectly...
Raffles are a great idea. If you split the money with a charity it a makes everyone feel great about themselves. I could win a car, you cover your costs and a charity gets some support. Make the tickets £2. Keep up the great work and honesty about how things turn out.
I've just found this channel and have watched all the uploaded videos one after the other, I've really enjoyed them! Particulary like the honesty, the fails and the wins, the real things that can and will go wrong, the unforseen hurdles that need to be addressed... As someone with a fair amount of panelwork experience, I thought the lads were really brave to tackle the MK1 Escort !!! The Mini Camper looks great I'm sure that will sell easily, I think I was as gutted as them about the gearbox, can't wait to see it all sorted. Keep em coming boys!
Mick you’ll love this channel! (I call them the odd couple even though there’s often three of them) Keith is such a great guy with a hilarious sense of humour and Paul (the boss) is a real prima Donna and has to be in all the camera shots. Simon makes three and together they turn out some fabulous motors. Oops! Sorry Paul!😂🤣
Thanks for sharing the journey and struggles of these old cars. Went through similar dramas with my VW type 3 fastback. After all the damn headaches and money, it's worth it though
Absolutely beautiful. Hard work and perseverance pays off every time, along with a hefty amount of cash 😂😁 Not sure Id eliminate the windscreen, not fond of bugs in the teeth lol Me personally, Id have plopped in a 2100. More power = more fun 😂🤣 If I were in the UK, Id definitely buy lots of tickets 👍 I bet thats a blast to drive!
Windshield helps keeps the bugs out of your face I always wanted to build one of those but the vw bit at the back always puts me off They are just too expensive these days I think that exhaust noise would be painful after a while Love the colour 👍👍👍
Had a vision of Basil Fawlty holding the branch shouting "I'm gonna give you a damn good thrashing" when you were talking about the issues 🤣 good to see you finally out enjoying it 👍...it looks proper mint.
Cheers Ian, yes lost my rag a fair few times with it over the last year! Fixed one thing and another popped up. It’s brilliant now though which is great 👍
Interesting yet odd snagging faults with the bug. Good to hear you kept your cool and got it sorted. Flat four sounds like he knows exactly what he's doing as opposed to the numpties engine rebuilders the first time around. Great looking car and worth all the hassle. Well done.
Absolutely enjoyed watching this .stumbled across this channel and can’t stop watching.fantastic job of this beach buggy lovely colour .also like the honesty about things that didn’t go to plan .if I had the cash I would snap your hand off but would be more than happy to have £50 of raffle tickets pleas keep us informed when it’s up for grabs
Awesome lil car, love the paint! Was just one thing after another, but looks like you've got it sorted now.I know a man had a couple of buggy bodies, was really interested but man,all the hassle! After seeing this id I might have to look him up....Subbed.
Had my swb gp in 1988. Did it all in Coca Cola livery. It spent more time in bits than being driven. Still sold it for 20x what it cost. Best car financially I’ve ever owned
Hi, Yet another great build you have done, good idea to raffle it off,im still waiting on your Escort to be Raffled off, cant wait to be the new ownet of that little Gem lol
Great video again gents! You can not keep teasing us with raffles, I need a Ford Escort in my life that will not result in me being the base to a new patio! Would your eBay randomiser not work with a list of entries?
Blimey mate damn thing has certainly been testing you that’s for sure ! Its absolutely beautiful your choice of colour was so perfect .I would defo buy a ticket I’d absolutely love to own a car that fabulous. Take it easy dudes 👍
That’s nice and awesome pity you don’t put a windscreen on it and stop all the flies from going in your face why don’t you wear one anywhere at all like it don’t mind one myself but I need it automatic as well because of my left leg I haven’t got one I’ve got an old version what is the video of you building it yeah I’m interested add modify it a bit more as well
I'd almost totally forgot about the buggy..! But wow, despite the down-time, what a beaut! A proper head-turner! Let's hope it's trouble-free now. Good job!
Name and shame, Mickey Mouse engineering need a kick up the Harris! Good to see you are finally happy with it, and it's a stunning colour. Looking forward to the raffle 😁
I need to stop buying the cheapest deals on eBay that’s all lol, one day I’ll learn. It’s amazing the colour, in the sun it goes gold and yellow on the edges, brilliant.
Proper mint. The buggy is on MY bucket list, especially when we downsize to be near the sea. Can't believe your bad luck with supposedly professional engine builders.
Damn, you have bad luck with engine builders 💀 Gotta ask how it passed MOT with that exhaust and no windscreen? Love the car, it would suit Queensland so well lol Always enjoy your vids and can't wait to see what you do with the van HOO ROO 👍
Great video, car looks great…..my son would absolutely love it. Will definitely be buying a raffle ticket if you do it 👍 Also for the MK1……please tell me I haven’t missed the raffle for that! 😁
Still trying to sort a website out for the raffle, the costs to set up seem a bit high so make take a bit of time. I’ll post a vid when I’m ready to start it 👍
So question? All the parts failing like the HEI distributor are they by chance the cheep Asian Amazon/Ebay crap? I have to say Man! That thing pops sharp looking! I know its all personal preference but I would have went back with a windscreen and Black frame on it. But would left wipers delete as you did.
Yes all eBay crap unfortunately, went through a few rubbish parts last year even on the mini I did. Only thing with keeping the screen you need to have wipers and washers.
I find it hard to believe that a mechanic would use silicon on the case facings. You should use Wellseal which is a bit like Yamabond I used on the racing TZ engines. Zero leaks
Love the finished look is amazing . Was curious it came with a windshield is there a reason you didnt put it back on? Wondered if it interfered with the new roll bar.
That buggy came out beautifully, the two of you make a great team, but I was wondering? if the 2 of you worked on it 40 hrs a week for 4-5 weeks what would the cost be then? Not trying to be a smarty and I know you never get your hours paid for, but just wondering. Nice of you to raffle it off too. Just found your channel and looking forward to viewing many more projects.
Sorry, but that Exhaust spoils the whole experience....fair play the colour is amazing.....fun car bar the constant annoyance of the bellow from the rear....
Ten out of ten for perseverance . It is not my cup of tea and the noise would drive me mad . How about doing a pre war car then you and Keith do Lands End to John O'Groats in it may be a Morris Eight series E with a series of videos using no motorways only the roads there in 1939 staying in pubs along the route .
" its £1,000 a tin that paint", proceeds down a lane with a warning sign for loose chippings... i have just subbed recently, but it seems to be a running gag of yours to pick right absolute plonkers to do sub-contract work for you, do you shake hands in the pub after 10 pints...... spied the escort car-a-van there, looking forward to it , keep up the good work lads PS, sorry, no sale, i'm a shit driver, need a roof just in case... [again]
100% I need to stop buying the cheapest stuff off eBay, everything is rubbish off there… Electronic ignition dizzy… broke Leads and plugs set… broke Beetle with recon engine… broke.
I just loved that color great job Hi From LOS ANGELES CA . USA
Thats turned into a mint little car (pun intended) that has to be the perfect car for that weather.
this is the saga of an old VW... they are brilliant.. but everything has to be just perfect for them to operate right... but when you get them all sorted, they are amazing.. thanks for sharing your journey.
Your mike must be proper as we really COULD hear what you were saying even when you were thrashing it! So glad to have found your channel!
I had a buggy like yours when I was 15. I miss it
Look's mint paul 👌🏽 👏🏽 👍🏽

I was trying to explain how cool it is to drive, there’s just nothing else you can go in that’s close to the buggy. It’s ace!

Nice 👌,great video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cool looking bug
That’s nice and awesome pity you don’t put a windscreen on it and stop all the flies from going in your face why don’t you wear one anywhere at all like it don’t mind one myself but I need it automatic as well because of my left leg I haven’t got one I’ve got an old version what is the video of you building it yeah I’m interested add modify it a bit more as well
A few large Adel clamps and a large piece of plexiglass would solve the bug and wind problem. Also, a stronger rear axle to prevent wheel tilt.
Great project. Inspirational even with the problems I am in for a load of tickets !! Let us know when you are ready to let the buggy go !! Thanks
What a nightmare of teething troubles Paul 🤦♂️ been kinda lucky with that jet though 😮
Another awesome paint job 👌
Amazing job as always guys. Put me down for a hundred tickets 👍👍👍
Ha ha brilliant John 👍
Awesome job!
I'd almost totally forgot about the buggy..! But wow, despite the down-time, what a beaut! A proper head-turner! Let's hope it's trouble-free now. Good job!
Another BRILLIANT VIDEO Thanks Are the Golf and Corrado road legal and if so can you give us a Road Test as well
Name and shame, Mickey Mouse engineering need a kick up the Harris!
You NEED to put in the Windshield in the Bright 😎 Green Funny buggy 😊
coolest buggy ever
Proper mint. The buggy is on MY bucket list, especially when we downsize to be near the sea. Can't believe your bad luck with supposedly professional engine builders.
I’ll have to not constantly go for the mega cheap deals lol. It’s brilliant to drive now though, love it!
Some say green is an unlucky colour 😂
Yep one for a raffle but would change the exhaust!
Dam what a nightmare journey with this one 😂 just found the channel a few days ago binged watched a few episodes already great stuff ❤️
Ahh nice! Welcome to the channel buddy 👍
love this car. where can we buy a ticket please
Still trying to get it sorted, struggling with the costs at the moment. It’s an expensive thing to get going unfortunately.
Did you decide to raffle the blue and white Escort MK1 , if so can you still buy tickets
Thought you'd sent the lads home...... lol
Filmed the road test in the morning and the intro in the afternoon 🤫 lol the magic of tv

Damn, you have bad luck with engine builders 💀
Gotta ask how it passed MOT with that exhaust and no windscreen?

When the raffle
Love the finished look is amazing . Was curious it came with a windshield is there a reason you didnt put it back on? Wondered if it interfered with the new roll bar.
No it was just for the looks I left it out, well that and I like the feeling of the wind blowing through my hair when I drive 👍
Cool as a cucumber 🥒
I’d buy a ticket or two
It’s proper ace! 👍👍
Simple...build it gasmonkey cool
That buggy came out beautifully, the two of you make a great team, but I was wondering? if the 2 of you worked on it 40 hrs a week for 4-5 weeks what would the cost be then? I would buy a raffle ticket. Would I be able to have it shipped to the United States?
If you can pay for transport from me to you including your import tax you can buy a ticket no problems.
Well I hope you get your money back for the engine that was badly rebuilt.
Is it a 1300 engine or 1500 as DVLA say it's a 1493 (1500) ?
It’s not the original motor associated with the chassis number.
Did you raffle this in the end?
No mate, still got it
How do I buy a raffle
Still trying to set it all up, the costs are mind boggling!
VW s aren’t leak free …..😢
Sorry, but that Exhaust spoils the whole experience....fair play the colour is amazing.....fun car bar the constant annoyance of the bellow from the rear....
It’s a marmite exhaust.
I’ll ask Keith, expect he drove one of those new in 1939 🤣
@@ODDAutos Oooh now that is cruel !!!
Put me down for some raffle tickets is it one per person or can you buy more..
Ok brill, people will be able to buy a few definitely. I’m still trying to sort it all out, getting there though 👍
