This is really cool that Paul and his team are keeping the Meyers Manx legend alive! I have loved these things since I was a kid. Living in northern Canada, this vehicle was the epitome of California dreamin'. Can't wait to see Chip's finished build...
This was a nice change to the usual ! It didn't seem scripted for ratings or etc. Just everyday people doing their jobs an taken notes as to what needs to be done. While also giving us a nice brief history of the company as well. Thank you as a fan of chip, family an crews. I use to push a dun buggy around that a neighbor let me have as a kid growing up on the floor of the house. It's was green an white. To see the life size version of it irl is really cool.
I remember driving down Laguna Canyon Road with my Dad when I was a kid and seeing all the finished cars in the fantastic colors on Bruce's lot... I wanted one SO badly. Dad even stopped so I could wander around them.
Kory built my chassis too! He does extremely high quality work. The welds are perfect and he added custom fabricated parts with the Meyers Manx logo etched into the metal. It won first place at Bug Out in 2019 and VW even posted a pic of it on their website. I'm glad he's running the shop. Fantastic guy to work with!
I love the fact that somebody took over Meyers Manx. Bruce loved that little car and it would have been a shame for it to die along with him. I am proud to have a 2017 Kick Out with a 1915cc VW. Also have Airkewled steering box and beam, 4 wheel disc, and shocks. Great company to deal with.
Since when I was a kid I loved this vehicle and before seeing this video I was quite sad about the finish of an era... you and this workshop make me happy! Thanks
Airkewld makes a awesome Six Shooter clutch adjustment nut in stainless steel that would look awesome under there. And it super functional. Love the buggy so far. 👍
I have a pre-tag Manx that was likely made by Bruce. Wish I had 25k to drop into it and make it look like one of these. Those Re-mastered bodies look real nice.
Wow, the mix of the 356 and the Manx is awesome! I have a similar project in mind, but the concept is "What if VW made a grand touring car in the '50's just for the American market?" Don't steal it; it's mine!!😂 Thanks for the deep dive, Chip! That was super-cool! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Foose and Manx! I am very interested to see what Chip has built for SEMA 2023, it should be over the top custom. Very thankful to see the Manx dune buggy live on and evolve, they are huge fun.
Question : Won't that Porsche/upright type 4 style fan be sucking super heated air off the exhaust - which in this case is right in front of the fan inlet? Won't this motor be running hot/overheating - especially when idling?
Bruce Meyers helped me build my Manx in 1967 while I was stationed at George AFB up at Victorville. Then they stored it for me while I was in VietNam. Wonderful people. 3:15
20 years ago I asked for his autograph at an auto auction before he was big and he spent a few minutes drawing a car and then signing it. He was very down to earth.
I thought Chip was just going to check on the progress but…he couldn’t help get his hands dirty at the end! 😀 …and put his brain to work and came up with some new solutions! This was no ordinary tour. Hehehe!
In a orevious century the Manx facility was on the north side of some freeway at ( I think) the city of industry. At one point I could not stand it any more and stopped in. The shop was not large, maybe 5,000 square feet. There wS a lobby with lots of stuff that I should have bought immediately. Most of the warehouse was dedicated to Manx kits and frames. The snell was intoxicating (literally). But, as far as I was concerned was in the back. There they had the huge flat plane heater and molding machinery for making the top and bottom of m the Manx SR. I was told that the vacuum table and other molds that were leaning up against the dingy wall were the molds necessary to make a sports car that was called the Panther or something like that. The top and bottom halves that are bolted together.
nice job chip! i like the project. i like the idea to play this character of 356 donor. i like old custom on old cars. there is only one thing that i cannot understand: why not to put a real porsche 356 engine???? it was the most important thing to do! you cannot cheat here! every inch of the engine is exposed....
Come on just rong from the start that chassis is nothing like a 350 and that engine is also nothink like a 350. I can see how this is going to end up looking anathing other than a buggy with some porche look alike parts. If you are going for a 350 bases then start with a 350 replica chassis and run a 4 cam motor mid monted or at leest a super 90.

Very impressive build. Haven't seen a Meyers Manx in quite a while. Wishing the company great success.

That Manx will absolutely fly with that engine. Very cool !
OEM steering box supplied by Airkewld LLC, Goodyear AZ. Thanks Paul and Chip!!

I always wanted a Meyers Manx, when I was a kid in the 60's, I had a Cox Dune Buggy, since then I've wanted one, never have though.
Spectacular!!
WOOT! I want me one!!!
Since when I was a kid I loved this vehicle and before seeing this video I was quite sad about the finish of an era... you and this workshop make me happy! Thanks

That thing is going to be quick with that engine.
I love it.

Sweet color
I wonder how they get around the emission standards for new cars
Saludos cordiales desde la cd de San Francisco de Campeche México
Is this the big sur color or the half dome?? The big sur look more navy blue on the website?
Hoping we get a post SEMA vid of you driving it on a beach...

What a absolutely timeless car !! The Foose touch doesn’t hurt either 😎

I see Chip modifying my Synclink system :)
I would paint it in jumbo flake

Nice
Painless ought to do a harness for these ....
My uncle had VW Bradly kit car when I was a kid the Meyers Manx is a nostalgic baja buggy, your porsche 356 theme will be a cool personal touch😎👍
What's their website?
I need a turn key meyers
painted the sign for Dune Bugs of Vallejo back in HS in 68 or so. didn't get paid other than rides in buggies. not sure who the kit manufacturer was.
cool
Is that a porche shrod or a Berny ? That thing is sweet
Paul is a good guy
Chip, fantastic. I offer $1000 for the sketch, donated to UNICEF here. Jan
20 years ago I asked for his autograph at an auto auction before he was big and he spent a few minutes drawing a car and then signing it. He was very down to earth.
Any chance they will do the SR as well?
Centered Gas Cap .... For sure.
Make mine metallic black.
Wish I could read Chip’s mind
I thought Chip was just going to check on the progress but…he couldn’t help get his hands dirty at the end! 😀 …and put his brain to work and came up with some new solutions! This was no ordinary tour. Hehehe!
Cool video. Could barely hear what everyone was saying though. :(
D Trump buys a Meyers Manx !!
If l had the $$$$ was going 2 ask u Chip 2 build me a Meyers Manx 2+2 . In White Metalic & Blue Metalic ( mid blue ). Awesome

Not a dune buggy guy but this one is different. Guess why!
Excelente trabajo amigo, cuanto cuesta una carrocería de ese bugy como el que estas armando, como lo podría traer a México
How come Chip hasnt changed a bit over 20 years? 😂 What is his secret?
Cowboy Gas Company 08/11/2023
Chip! Consider untucking your shirt! All the kids are doin' it...
Don't mean to come off as a hater... 11:41 you see the world's cheapest fuel filter in a car built for Chip Foose that's going to SEMA.
Do a low cost EV and go into profit.

He’s a young man carrying 200# of early death. Better do something about that brother.
Paul is so hot 🥵🥵🥵
He looks like Trump 😂
chip does nothing
Chip does everything

Really crappy sound...pity
I pray this man is able to get healthy, because this is a very sad state he is in.
Rocking that Trump hair!!
Chip's really rocking the Donald Trump hairstyle. MAGA
This Manx is mean.
