I love all your videos but I especially enjoy ones like these, targeting the smaller species. I think it’s bcuz it brings me back to my youth, when my buddy and I were creek fishing every day for sunfish and chubs to take catfishing that night. Thanks again John, you’re a blessing!
Went creek fishing with my ultralite for the first time in forever this morning and had a blast. Hard to beat a small mouth biting a panther martin on a UL. Thanks for the inspiration and great videos as always.
I'd gladly take a scouting trip like this John. Catching all of my favorites minus smallies. The backpack was genius. I picked up a Plano 3600 weekender for this reason keep it simple and go lighter. A few years ago I picked up the little Plano 3500 box with 4 removable totes so I can mix and match. Blessings brother
Oooo! I love those Closed-faced Underspin Reels! I think I used to have one, a long time ago, and I consider them to be far superior to a regular Closed-faced Reel. I also used to have, I think, at least two of the Quick-fire Open-faced Spinning Reels. As long as they are working properly, they really increase your casting speed! That finger-trigger on one of those types of Reels was totally BOSS! The only thing that worked against those Triggers, was if they would break... which could happen, being that they were only made out of Plastic. Fishing sure has come a long way, though. I love it!
Agreed! I mean -Look at what he did with his Merch Line of T-shirts, Pull-over Hoodies, and whatnot. He even recently added a Camo Hat to his Merch line, that has the Black fish, and the word "Creek" written across it in the color Orange. I love it!
Could you do us a HUGE favor? Can we get some videos on bass lures what to use and when to use? I've got probably $100 worth of lures from frogs, whopper ploppers, jigs, chatter baits, and so on. But I'm completely guessing colors on colors I like and that's not working too well 😂 Love watching the videos!
Use a bobber as much as you can.. it's honestly the funest, mainly to keep bait off of bottom to avoid snags and keep lure in strike zone. Sometimes cast up stream and let it roll with the current, then boom you get hit
@Peterpiperofthes ok I'll try that, we do have a bit of moss here. Where I'm at on the Colorado River people have been showing me techniques that use sinkers, not sure if the location or depth of the water has anything to do to with it but I've been casting out frozen sardines with sinkers and then trying out swim baits and minnow lures on ball head jigs. I caught a largemouth bass, a few trout, and a carp. It's my favorite hobby now
Me and my boys love the videos! We have a small bait lure company underhill outdoors.. I’d love to send you our crappie kit and tell me what you think !
Hey John! I might have already commented and told you but your videos inspired me to make my own fishing and outdoors RUclips channel LowMyco’s Fishing and Outdoors. Give it a follow if you don’t mind! I shout you out in one of the videos for being my inspiration and mention how proud I am of how far you have come in just a couple years. You have become an amazing angler John. Thanks for the inspiration and great entertainment
Hey John. Make sure you take Victor up on his offer! I use his BG-1's as twitching and swimming jigs, and under HIS matching floats! 1g jig head plus 1g float. 1.25g jig head plus his 1.25g float. The system works! They pair up fantastically with Trout Magnets, Bobby Garlands, ZMan LarvaZ's, Charlie Brewer 1" swimmers, and various other small bug and small minnow type soft plastics. I have some Big Bite Bait 1.5" craws that work awesomely by letting them fall to the bottom and then slow pulling and/or twitch and fall them back. I cut off the tiny back part of the tail and Locktite super glue them to the BG-1's in either 1g or 1.25g. Really... you've got to try them. I've caught huge Crappie on both of the smaller size jigs. 1g and 1.25g. I just got some 1.5g to use with some 1.75" and 2" swim baits and maybe even the Crappie Magnets. This was a good video. I also have a dedicated fanny pack on use on days when I specifically target Gills and Crappie. It's so much more convenient than a full size back pack/sling bag. My only issue is drinks and snacks. My fanny pack is maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the size of your sling pack. I'm also looking at some of those to replace the fanny with. Thanks for sharing!
When I can't fish, I live vicariously through your videos.
Me too. I discovered this channel when I was first on chemo and didn’t feel like doing much. He’s a blessing
