I know I'm late to the party, I just discovered you as I'm beginning my sewing journey...needless to say, I've watched a TON of videos. You are by far the BEST teacher I've listened to! Thank you for sharing your gifts with us 😊😊
How nice JW. Thank you very much for such a lovely compliment.
I always learn so much when you do these teaching videos. You explain things so well (things that other teachers have not done in such detail). Thanks!
I so appreciate your patience and diligence when you are teaching. I have learned so much and been entertained with your humor. Thank you tons for doing these videos.
Joy, you are a JOY! I have made many blueprints per the booklet but not a great outcome. You showed 3 of my problem areas and how to fix them. Trust me, I will not give up. Looking forward to watching more of your RUclips’s.
I just discovered you, Joy and am watching all your videos. Love your video style!
You are a gem. Thank you so much for every little detail to a perfect result. Sending God’s Blessings
Thanks a lot for these videos. I have learnt so much
Love you Joy. Your tutorial is so detailed and liked the way you explain every step. 😘
Thank you Joy for taking your time to teach me this!❤
Thank you so much! You are so much fun to sew with.
Your tutorials are absolutely fantastic and almost make me want to purchase Glenda's kits but they are crazy expensive here in Canada. I will just have to stick with P&P 's tissue fitting. Thanks for the videos and all the work you put into making them. 💗
You are precious for sharing. Sending God's blessings 🙏
I watched the first 3 and think your tutorials are always great. I'm ready to get going on mine. Thanks for taking the time to do these! I also love the fact that you have the same exact body lumps, bumps and issues I do! Makes it so easy to do the corrections.
Joy, I have bean meaning to ask you where you got your ruler, the one you slap down. Good way to get rid of frustrations 😄
I am loving this video. I have the kit but was too afraid to start! When I saw the first video I was over the moon with happiness, now I have the confidence to start thanks to you teaching us. Thank you so much for all the work you do for us. I am so grateful that I found you one day when I was just having g fun hopping around RUclips checking for interesting videos and I found you. Thank you again for all you do for us...
You are very welcome Sandra. I believe the rulers are in my Amazon Store. Please check there under sewing essentials. Here is a link:

@@Joy4650B Thank you Joy, I ordered it from your store, now I have my slap down ruler 😂
Hi Joy..I love your tutorials..I have noticed that Glenda never did a tutorial on drafting a short sleeve...its always long or 3/4 sleeve. Can you do a short tutorial on just the short sleeve? Thanks
The lines for the short sleeve are on the Master Pattern.
I love the fabric for your blouse.
Another Academy Award quality video Joy!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Hi Joy You are soooo much fun to watch, brings happiness to all of us in this covid Year THANK YOU Have you thought about doing a Video Princess Line Blouse from a Sure Fit Designs Pattern, the way you describe fittings, drawings is so easy to follow Cheers Noni from down under
Hi Joy,
My husband and I were watching this video and he recommended you put books under the legs of your table lol.
That is if you want to tilt it. You had mentioned tilting your table and he said “put books under the legs” lol.
I am going to try this your instructions are so good.
I agree it has been dark and rainy and thunder here in Ardmore, but we love this weather
Thank you for doing threes videos they are so helpful.
😀
Thanks. Great lesson. I got some new hints that I haven't known. I'm going to update . You are very smart and clever.
Great tutorials!
Joy - I so love and enjoy your videos and lessons. What is the blouse pattern on the body form at the end of the video and do you recall the fabric? I'm referring to the the cowl neck top with paisley fabric.
I'm so glad I found your channel! Really inspiring!
Joy...where did you buy your large cutting mat?
Love this. Thanks
Thank You
You are awesome, can't say enough !!!
Joy, Thank you for your video. Helping me so much. I'm about ready to try my first fit. I have a question on the front
Armscye where you used 40". Wouldn't you do that on the sleeve cap as well?
No. You need the sleeve cap. I just needed to slice a little off the side to side width across my upper chest. Hope that makes sense.
@@Joy4650B Thank You Joy! I was thinking it changed the armhole size.
I have done four bodices and have a decent fit except for the arm scythe and sleeve. The long sleeve lower part fits me fine so I’m going to continue trying with a shirt sleeve just to save some time. My problem has to do with the sleeve cap. I know I’m going to have to lengthen the cap. Might have to widen it as well. In your opinion, could I start using the pattern ease to try and fit the sleeve? I may also have to rotate my sleeve in the arm hole. I think I sloped the shoulder trying to get rid of wrinkles that actually were the round back correction and since I can always go back with the shoulder slope in the sewing phase, I’m going to redraw with a regular shoulder. You are right this takes a long time and many tries! But the question was, could I do the sleeve fitting in pattern ease?
Yes! Lots of work. Phylly (my friend) has never been able to get the sleeve the way she wants it. Don't know why. My experience is there is TOO MUCH EASE in the cap of the sleeve. I always rotate the cap sleeve pattern into the armsceye of the pattern and make sure there is no more than 1/2" on either side of the shoulder to ease in. You have broad shoulders, so you probably need to raise the cap (you can measure on yourself to compare). Email me a picture if you can take one of what the problem area is. Oh! You might not have enough ease in the cap. Can go either way.
@@Joy4650B I am out of town for the weekend but I’ll be working on it again this week. Thank you! I will email you a picture. I also think I will have to rotate the sleeve a bit like they talk about in the “Fit for Real People” book (I think that’s the name of it. You suggested it and I found it cheap used at Amazon)
You missed your calling of being a Teacher Joy. Very well done and so deeply appreciated. You should set yourself up a "Kofi" account like Whitney of Tomkat Stitchery. You could make a little money to help buy yourself sewing supplies, new lighting, a new camera, or editing software. Just a thought....
I didn't want to upset my subscribers by thinking they had to buy anything from me.
Joy Bernhardt I certainly understand that.
great help, thank you thank you
OMG I'm afraid this process will take me a month to do. I have not purchased the Sure fit system. A tad confused what to purchase. A shirt kit or dress kit. I like fitted tops without buttons fronts. Any advice? Shirt kit or dress kit? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the purple flowered top you wore in the 1st and 2nd videos. You looked absolutely stunning in that. I believe purple is a lovely color on you. Take careI
If you love the white and purple top, and that is what you want to make, I would get the Shirt Kit. It is really nice too, but I have to add a bust dart to it. It is meant to be made without the bust dart.
Joy what's the difference between Mini Dress Kit & Reg Dress Kit? Price wise I'm looking at the Mini kit but does that mean mini dress (stupid question).
"Mini" dress kit just means you don't get as many products with it. I haven't looked, but it may not include the designing stylus.
I know the designing stylist is important so I'll double check thank you so much❤
hi there , what about if it is cotton fabric ?
It is cotton fabric.
