This just might be the best sewing tutorial I have ever seen. Just the right amount and speed of description and demonstration and very little chatter. No flipping and pointing at the fabric 20 times. My niece asked me to make some pot holders out of a fabric that she likes for her new apartment. I want to include a heart shaped one, since Valentine's Day is coming up. I'm so glad I took the time to find just the right pattern and demo. Oh, and I have been sewing for decades and never knew that glue sticks would work in place of pinning and basting. What a game changer!
I am heading into my creative space right now and going to give this pattern a try doing it both ways. We used your method of doing the corn on the cob in the microwave last weekend and my youngest daughter and everyone was like "Lisa's a genius!" so much easier with both cooking and the mess is sooo much less! Thank you once again for always giving us so much inspiration!
Thank you, precious sister in Christ. Love all that you do! We've been cooking our corn like this for years but never saw the great tip on getting them out...glad to know!! Enjoy your time away with family. Praying for a safe visit. U R super ❤️
I love cooking corn in the microwave. If I don't have corn with the husk on it I will wrap it in parchment paper. Corn tastes so much sweeter cooked this way.
I have made this kind of hotpad, but from a different pattern that I have had for about fifteen years. I am going to try the second method. Cooking the corn your way is better than mine. I would clean the corn completely, put them on a plate with a wet towel and put in microwave.
I just love that purple color there - and your perfect tutorial is THE BEST I've seen ( no doubt!) to make these pretty, useful heart-shaped oven mitts. Thank you so much for sharing your tips on sewing AND cooking corn on the cob...the EASY way! :)
Wow! Love the way you slipped the corn out. Usually it is so messy. I think i have to make these hotpads just in time for corn season😊. Thank you for this tutorial.
Just watched, again, really like this design of pot holder cause it seems to fit our hands very well. I, too, love purple! We'll have to try your corn cooking method.
I am going to try the glue basting on these pot holders, I have never tried it before.. I guess I was being lazy. lol I have never cooked corn on the cob like this but I am giving this a try also. Thanks for all the things you do for us. Hope you enjoy every second of your trip and visit..
I love these heart hot pad, amd the colors are beautiful 😁❤️ I actually thought that the side with the "pockets" was the front side, although i know you grab the got things from the other side😁👍
Love the heart shaped hot pad!! I've HEARD that corn would come out of the shuck like that but NEVER seen it unfortunately. I'm gonna have to give it another try!! and if it doesn't work I'll eat it up and try again!!! LOVE it microwaved!!
Thank you Lisa. i didn't know how to cook corn like this and will be giving it a go. Also, 'leaf sleeve' will definitely be entering my vocabulary :) x
Thank you so much for the tutorial and free pattern for the heart hot pad. I will enjoy making this for gifts. Have a blessed day. P.S. The leaves on the corn are called husk.

11:06 right above your hand is a label on your microwave... It might tell the strength (wattage) of your microwave on that label. 💖🌞🌵😷

do you use cotton thread when stitching these cut hotpads?
Yes, you'll probably want to use a cotton thread :)
How do I get the heart pattern? I don’t see a description box. Thanks
We always do corn in the microwave when just for us.
If u substitute for insulbrite do u still need 3 layers ?
1 layer of insulbrite and 1 layer of batting
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead thank you so much
Start making memory bears . You will get good at those curved edges
I do my corn 4 minutes for 4 ears.
