Ashes of Creation is an open world MMORPG set in a fantasy environment where you can choose different classes and races to adventure through with your friends. Intrepid Studios is the developer behind the game. They’re technically an indie studio, but their creative director Steven Sharif has a clear vision for his video game: Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game. He wants to put the massive back in MMO. Exploring dungeons, griding for gear, crafting armor/weapons, learning new spells, and competing in large scale PvP battles. High end PvE such as raids will mainly occur in the open world. Bosses will spawn and roam through the land. Are YOU ready to enter the world of Verra?

I think I'm going to avoid the most popular nodes, and instead find a far away, low-tier node to settle down in, and build a community from the ground-up that way. I think that's one of the really beautiful things about the node system that people haven't been talking about but you touched on here: there's value in the smaller stories that aren't tied to the massive clashes of power that the top% of players are going to be drawn to. Even if they do dominate the top tier play, there's nothing forcing you to engage with it, and there's plenty of fun to be had away from it.

You can also become a mercenary without a home Node. Keep traveling around the world, selling your services to the highest bidder, circle the entire world and sell loot from your travels.

I was under the impression that the cosmetics didn't become wearable until you had obtained that type of gear in-game, then you could apply your unique design that that type. But that might have changed over the last couple of years.
@@JonBondgsr It's based on tiers which is better than what most other MMOs do. The issue though is when everyone is max level the tiers aren't as significant. It's not a huuuge deal to me though. Thanks for your comment!

In regards to cosmetic i do agree with you there however i would like to see an option to turn other players off with the exception of in towns/freeholds so people can show off there money/flaunt i guess in there. When it comes to PvP though u kinda wanna see what there wearing visually alot of the time especialy when it comes to determining if it heavy or light armor.
I realy hope nodes cities are all built in a unique terrain so node wars feel different on basicly all nodes, in cave with tunnels going to it, up platues in tabletop mountain with a rope bridge on one side across a ravine when node levels up to x level. Some cities should be more defendable with a trade off of maybe less building plots or less policies or bad location, where an open field node with little to no natural defences might get a bonus with either great location or more building space or something.

Personally I like the idea of having to progress to a certain point (visually or otherwise) before you can use the cosmetics but.. it is not my fault if the best version of a wildling princess-monoke wolf fur transmog with accompanying antler-bow is a shop cosmetic and that's just how i have to get what i want. It's not for pomp its literally just my favorite aesthetic ._. (This is an example base on diablo 4s rogue transmog. Nothing else in the game looks remotely like it and its beautiful.. just shameless gatekeeping on blizz's part.)

Actually, Albion Online has a built-in function to turn off the cosmetics while out of town, or at all! It is critical to see, what the opponents are wearing =) So, hope AoC will have the same option =)

Interesting point on the masses of disgruntled players rising up to over-throw an oppressive Node via the Node Siege, essentially zerging it down. However with the talk of these "big guilds", e.g. Pirate Software has 12k members in their discord, yikes! What is to stop those mega-guilds from absolutely steamrolling the entire realm? (A realm is a collection of servers that make up the entire map/world of Vera)
this game has more stuff connected to nodes than some MMOs content in whole game cant wait for A2

Option to turn off people’s cosmetics is genius. It sucks that gear progression gets hidden visibly by cosmetics. Used to be a badge of honor to have certain gear equipped and people would flaunt that over some random cosmetic

Can't be looking like a dream board outfit either though as you have 34 different sets going on at one time as you progress. That just looks shitty. Compromise: Dyes so at least it's somewhat coordinated.
Really impressed how you have caught up to the vision and progress of AoC so fast. Your first content was a little rough, but this was excellent! I don't think I will be involved into Alpha/Beta Key, so I hope, you can keep me up to date through testing.
Things like the procedural drawing tool is why I am so optimistic for a 2025 release. Once they have the game working functionally, content will be easier to generate than a theme-park MMO.
My strategy is going to be to create a religious node, and create a religion that has desirable augments, then convert the entire server to that religion. If anyone toasts the node they weaken everyone on the entire server and shoot themself in the foot or the knee 🤭.

I once made a reddit post saying tmog was ruining games because it makes gear less impactfull and I recieved like 27 down votes on reddit which is by a large margin more than any other post.
But I fully believe tmog is ruining mmos. Even in trash gear I was happy with how I looked compared to noobs. Than when I had bis I felt like a god. Now with tmog I can't tell if someone is a noob or a god and it feels way worse to earn gear when tmog looks better.

I'll I hope for is that casuals can be competitive. I know that makes people mad for some weird reason but it will decide the fate of the game in the end.
Based on the type of vertical progression we know of, I think a skilled casual will still be able to beat an unskilled hardcore. I agree though and that'll likely be a big point of my feedback in A2.

I think the cat is out the bag now, if a game launches with cosmetics and they add a feature to turn them off for a monetary transaction, you are effectively get a pay 2 win advantage over others by being able to scout enemies at range and give possible build information before ingaging in combat based on possible gear combinations and then act accordingly, other players without this cant do it so its pay 2 win, thats before we get into the ethical dilemma of selling a product on a premise then undermining that premise by selling an option to turn it off, some people buy things to 'flex' and you are essentially taking their reason for purchasing previously away, i personally think thats grounds for a refund of any cosmetics. This will create a huge problem not solve a small one.

To my knowledge aoc cosmetics are on a per piece basis. Meaning you can't transmog your lvl 1 gear into the sets you bought for 250$. The same way only the people who have their own freehold can use a freehold cosmetic. So you technically keep the visual progression, hopefully. But honestly I agree on the cosmetics, they are a cancer of modern gaming.

I dont like it. it's boring to do, and a waste of my time. I dont play pvp in any games that have it. Someone can be good at pvp but suck at a raid boss or mechanics ill pick the person who can do mechanics every single time bc a boss is not a player, dgaf what your pvp rank is if you cant down a boss your wasting my time and everyone elses time.
