Honestly, probably not. MD Geist is basically unknown in Japan, and is only as infamous as it is in America because Central Park Media spammed the ABSOLUTE HELL out of it in the 90s. Geist himself is sort of a bizarre fusion of Zeta Gundam-era Char Aznable ("Quattro Bajeena") and Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star; I'd guess Char was moreso the influence for Miller than Geist.
That feeling when you do something absolutely badass, and feel no need to validate a damn thing you did leading up to it. Even unleashing a horde of monsters on a planet and fighting the same monsters until they're all dead.
M.D. Geist actually had some fairly subverting plot elements for the genre compared to the run of the mill action OVA from the period. The hero is actually a villain, when presented with token OVA sex he rejects it, the love interest is not in any shape or form a real love interest and the ending is sorta nihilistic.

The soundtrack for Geist was amazing it’s just sad that the quality of the OVA’s plot and characters could have been just as good but weren’t. But there is still enjoyment from it for some reason.
Such a catchy song. It really has that kind of sound that just stays in your head. Especially when considering that this is from an anime that came out in the same year Top Gun, Platoon, and the original Transformers movie came out in. For this, the 80s will never be forgotten.
I remember watching this as a kid.. It wasn't received too well, but my brother and I liked it, especially this song... For some reason it always reminded me of Battle Arena Toshinden, I do not know why. Years later in high school, we created a video game based on the comic we created as children (both are currently being redone). One of the passive abilities of the main character, was named after this anime lol. It would activate when the character was put near death. The character was part human (his mother was taken from Earth), and part of alien race called Zayinn, who were constructs of a primordial alien race, made to be living weapons. I remember in school someone asked if I called them Zayinn, because of Dragon Ball Z. I laughed because I hadn't even realized they sounded the same. But I was not thinking about that, it is supposed to be a play on the old Hebrew word for "weapon". It is shaped as a 7, when written in Hebrew, with 7 denoting perfection, and they were seen by the primordial race, as perfect weapons and some were used as a perfect source of energy as well.. It is jokingly implied, that the main character's mother, is like Samus Aran of Metroid, and his adoptive father like Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy (he is even called Star Viking, which is the name of his Strife Metal Band lol). I remember my brother and I broke into our older brother's comics and got into Guardians of the Galaxy, we were also obsessed with Metroid lol. It is also a nod to another favorite anime of ours, Project A-ko, where it is implied her parents are Superman and Wonder Woman lol. The original game was set up very much like Zelda, but sci-fi space, having you travel to 3 different planets, a derelict starship, and a massive space city. You primarily played his adoptive father Gunn, with our main character Einar, (the name Gunn gives him, as he was called KD7302-Kydan, on his home world) being 16 at the time.
198X - 199X - golden age of anime for me. Amazingly detailed designs for vehicles and mecha, somewhat realistic drawing styles for humans and some of the darkest and most dystopian stories.
