This powerful song from the anime soundtrack of MD geist really sets my heart ablaze and boy did it make me want to become the most dangerous soldier as in the most dangerous super soldier to ever fight in a war
>activates robot apocalypse >starts killing robots >starts killing people >gets nuked, survives >starts killing survivors i have no idea what his motive even was but he killed 99% of robots and humans on the planet
He basically was part of a warfare program, a clone genetically altered to be a super soldier and programmed only to be a killing machine . Every one of the soldiers like him went insane and homicidal, so the program was considered a failure, they shut it down and put all the soldiers in stasis. But years later Geist wakes up and activates the Death Force only to have his own personal war against it.
In 7th grade I made a new friend. He introduced me to this side of anime and in one year I've read and seen Akira, NG E, M.D. Geist, Ghost in the Shell, Battle Angel Alita and then some. I have not been the same person ever since. 80's anime had a way to fuck your mind in a very special way.
A lot of people bag on this movie for the cheesiness and it does fall into that. But that's why I'm in love with the series. It's SUPER unrealistic but it's an manime. So don't expect much from something called "Most Dangerous Geist". Think of it like Commando starring good ol Arnold. That movie was stupid as hell but people love it. What I'm trying to say, this is one of my favorite animus ever. ^_^
Hit the nail on the head. The movie is an excuse for fighting, mecha, and badassery. It does what it set out to do, and does it well. Of course, I've got a special place in my heart for this since it's one of the first anime my uncle introduced me to back sometime around '90. This and Guyver.
I like Geist because he challenges the idea in storytelling that characters always have to have reasons for being good or evil, he just wants to kill everyone and everything *because he fucking feels like it, that's why.*
akira,md geist, ninja scroll, street fighter 2 the animated movie, fist of the north star, riding bean an many more. this was anime! ah yes shame on me. berserk of course
People never really seem to mention music in a lot of things, though I see what you mean. I love both OVA's soundtracks, they're unique, but I think the first one gets more points from me.
_"JoJo is trash."_ I'm sorry but that's a *bold* fucking statement, especially without anything to back it up. You sure your nostalgia goggles aren't too tightly on? And JoJo Part 3 had a 90s and 2000s OVA adaptation, the manga has been running since the 80s and is going on to this day. The modern anime is a 100% adaptation of the manga (a lot of popular old and new ones are but not usually as strictly as JoJo), a lot of the poses, shots even the dialogue were taken straight out of the manga, so you're completely wrong about JoJo being a 2010s anime.
Don't get me wrong. There're and were still shows from the 00s to today that I can totally enjoy. But you can clearly see that the market is so oversaturated.
@nindroid47 Hey, cheesy eighties' anime was also ultra-violent and ultra-awesome, and they didn't have cliched pretty boys or sparkly girls. They were so hardcore, even the OVA series starring 4 chicks (Bubblegum Crisis) would show people getting shot to pieces and getting their skulls crushed and stuff. If only those days would come back for anime.
You gotta admit, even though this anime doesn't get many positive reviews, it's still a classic nevertheless. And besides, it's rather unique in the sense that the main protagonist is not the typical hero or antihero that most people would probably expect. But rather, the main protagonist is the villain, and the hero is nonexistent. But that's what makes this unique from everything else; it's about a badguy and his quest for personal revenge.
I would have liked to have seen more focus on the struggle of the humans, how Geist sees what he's done to the world as one big hunting game, the corruption within the mixed armies, and how the antagonist seems to want a religion around himself. If you scratch the surface of the sequel, Geist ironically becomes the hero, but that's only if you really look into it using what little evidence it gives you, it's why I wish it was a bigger story. I wrote an article on Geist that you may want to read.
I don't give a damn bout' what people say about MD Geist, I love it as all fuck! The fact that the protagonist is a monster instead of a hero or anti hero you'd excpect. "DANGEROUS, MOST DANGEROUS!!

Krutes: "you new recruits never heard of them, but during the war everyone feared the Most Dangerous Soldiers, perfectly trained for form of combat! They're too good, too dangerous!"
It's not for everyone, but I fucking love M.D. Geist. Don't expect a very deep plot, but do expect 80s manliness and cheesiness, if you're gonna watch it, make sure you watch the Director's Cut in Japanese, the dub is awful. I have uploaded the 1986 version, but it has a problems, mainly with how it's not very refined, and I actually prefer the comic version. Regardless, Geist is awesome.
Damn perfect. Every time a clip of Geists' head flapping in the breeze is shown, another raider boss gets his head stabbed. Thanks for doing your part.
It's cool, I got your message. Very good article, I largely agree with your analysis of Geist's character and it was really informative with some of the behind-the-scenes stuff that was going on. And I got around to watching the second OVA. I actually really liked it. I do agree with some of your criticisms, like the crappy animation in some places. Still, the fact that Geist took the world he damned and DAMNED IT EVEN HARDER is just so awesome to me.
I never watched the reportedly awful 80's original cut, but the Director's Cut was both the dumbest and best action OVA I've watched in a long time. Also, his black powersuit still looks awesome. Too bad Deathforce wasn't as good, since Geist was barely in it. Should've just called it MD Geist 2: Dull Krauser Speech and Vaiya Butt Boogaloo.
+Ben Harris I honestly don't consider Fist of the North Star that dumb. It's got decent characters, plot and even a decent moral. MD Geist on the other hand is its on breed of insanity.
+shenloken2 I kind of figured that Geist was a mix of Mel Gibson (MAD MAX) and Kurt Russell, but mostly Rutger Hauer (BLADE RUNNER, THE HITCHER). In fact, if this was done live action in the late 80's, I definitely could have seen Rutger play the part.

Dude, totally. If you wanna hit me up with that, that would be awesome. Geist is at the surface a fairly one-dimensional character, but the closer you examine him, you begin to see that there's more to him than just killing anything that moves. I'd be interested to see what you've come up with.
This powerful song from the anime soundtrack of MD geist really sets my heart ablaze and boy did it make me want to become the most dangerous soldier as in the most dangerous super soldier to ever fight in a war
>activates robot apocalypse

Dude, this interpretation of a post-apocalyptic future makes Mad Max look like Wall-Greens.
How I haven't heard about this before? Came here from Hinorobu songs.
DANGEROUS... MOST DANGEROUS... god i love this film.. i rented it at blockbusters in the early 80's
M.D.S-0.2-Geist: Without a doubt, this will always be one of hyrobu Kageyama's best songs in the entire history of Retro Anime 📼🕶️🎸
This song reflects Geist's key personality traits,an eternal warrior,a ruthless killing machine, and a fearless fighter
A perfect way to describe this song and Geist himself.
i love how he's not just dangerous, he's the MOST DANGEROUS. amazing anime and song!
Man I miss 80s and early 90s anime going to blockbuster renting this and crying freeman

And in doing so, he made room for a sequel!

I think it's about time I might become the most dangerous super soldier to ever fight in the war known as MD geist
Listened to this song 5 times. Penis grew 50%. Testosterone increased by 500%. True fact.
This song makes MD Geist seem a lot better than the Dub would lead you to believe.
this is my shit 80's forever, today can't never ever ever come come close to these kind gems ever
Not a bad anime, the concept is pretty crazy too.what happens when you create something you can't control. M.D Geist says it all

Your old comment wasn't douchey at all, though, it was spot on why it's such a guilty pleasure.
azzythehero it was the emojis
People that bag on this MDGeist are plebs.
I can't see how Geist has such a bad reputation when it's rad as fuck.
Novu well it was too short.
could've been longer
Yeah definately.
for me, it has the perfect lengh concidering there is a sequel that finishes the story
@@ShogunX11 Ok so six years later this sounds really gay.
MD geist is my favorite anime and boy does it have the most coolest soundtrack to ever set my heart ablaze

You forgot Cowboy Bebop, City Hunter, Cat's eyes and Lupin!
That ending shot just about sums it up.
The look on his eye at the end says everything.
