I love this OST. So apocalyptic and terrifying. You can just imagine an entire city being stormed and burning down while listening to it without ever knowing the context. It's just genocide in a music form.
I associate this music prettymuch entirely with that shot of the camera diving into the cyborg's wound and showing us all of the inner workings as the whole body is torn in half. It was one of the most awesome animated sequences I know of.
From Genocyber to Guyver and Yu Yu Hakusho, a lot of anime and manga from before the 2000s have this H.R. Giger feel to it (some more than others) and for some reason it looks amazingly cool
Fun fact: this series was made by the same guys as Bubblegum Crisis. Let that sink in...the same guys who made the fun cyberpunk pop song-driven action cheese fest inspired by Streets of Fire are the same guys who made one of most violent and graphic anime ever made.
To further the comparison, those two cyborgs in Episode 1 are basically Boomers but even more horrifying. I can easily picture a crossover where Genocyber is one of the many Genom projects gone wrong and the Knight Sabers confront and try to stop Elaine's rampage before she wipes out Tokyo off the map.
Its since I'm doing a school project about him, Masahiro Sakurai, Stan lee and Shigeru Miyamoto I also ask since my teacher asked over if he worked on Genocyber
@@alexanderavila4662 As far as I’m aware, Go Nagai had no involvement besides his work Devilman being a possible inspiration for the destructive portrayal of Genocyber in these OVAs compared to in the original manga.

"Tears through" is probably one of the better euphemisms I've read about this scene. Genocyber made that city non-existent. Would a fine-grained, sandy beach...somewhere...still be considered Hong Kong?
was all of it made a fine beach a? Also what kind of question is it to put? Why is this question relevant? Why did you even ask it? It sounds that you tried to become philosophical and choose worst thing to show off on.
Quite good, gory, and with a story. The series was a bit weird thou. First Ep was the beginning with a lot of fighting and story. The second (2-3) felt like it was just an eppisode of a longer series. Then it feels like there is a gap and there should be an episode that shows destruction of the world. Then comes the last Ep (4-5) which feels odd, like if it had plotholes, has a weird pacing, the plot is kinda okayish but feels like a forced commentary on war and politics, all in all the last Ep feels out of place. All in all the series makes a point and isn't just an insanely sick killing show filled with psychos like M.D. Geist.
+draconpost I can see what you mean about the show making a point, about the evils of war, but the constant gore didn't do much for me. Nor did the fucked up cyborgs in the first OVA (I did like the design of the female when she's in her human form, though), or just...it felt like it was more interested in showing us humans being killed rather than telling a story. And the 3rd OVA is just stupid.
+VaatiOfDarkness Yep, the whole thing makes sense but some parts just feel awkward and out of place and the third one is not enough gory and not enough philosophic. The gap between two and three is too noticeable and it feels like they stole the whole gory destruction of the world from us. ^right, I always think of the predator music in the last stage of Contra 3. Ironically it was composed by Alan Silvestri who has done so many classic movie themes at this point
This track was the best part of the movie and the scene (I think at the beginning of episode 2) where it jams in is epic (and memorable) and the best part of the anime. Too bad the plot and characters weren't strong enough to hold up the great animation and strong score. The concept and themes are metal to the core, but there just wasn't enough connective tissue holding this thing together... unlike those kids in that scene. I mean, we saw their connective tissue, am I right? Yeah... brutal stuff, and I could have loved it if there was a point to it.
For me, it's frustrating to know that Genocyber has no conclusion, neither in the OVAs nor in the manga, which was unfortunately canceled. Tony Takezaki didn’t bother to continue the story (and he had thirty years to do so). There was so much to explore-so many themes and loose ends! Unfortunately, in the OVAs, they didn’t know which direction to take. After the ship arc with the Vajuranoid, they seemed lost. The most logical path would have been to wrap up Elaine's arc, but they didn’t even do that.
@@palhacovelho7124 Ep5 WAS the conclusion. The genocyber was reborn as a child at the end after the destruction. I do wish the manga got finished since I liked it more, but Tony probably didn't care for it. At least we got Tony's Evangelion.
@@peppermillers8361 I misspoke. It’s not that the OVA doesn’t have a conclusion-it does. My frustration comes more from the abrupt shift in the narrative: they simply took the focus off Elaine and placed it on Ryu and Mel. I would have preferred if they had at least finished her arc first and then moved on to a new one. That would have felt more natural. (And I don’t know about you, but I still can’t accept the idea that Elaine spent a hundred years fighting the “Kiryu Corporation”; in an instant, she decimated Hong Kong. I wouldn’t give her even a month to destroy the entire planet).
@@palhacovelho7124 I get what you mean, but I feel that unfortunately the OVA wasn't concerned about Elaine's arc, and that she stopped having one after Ep1. Everything after the first episode just kind of gave the impression that she's just hanging out and about and trying to do her own thing without much character growth, and that she will keep on destroying things until she stops and receives an act of kindness. I think the change of focus for Ryu and Mel kind of worked and personally got me interested, but majority of Genocyber isn't well handled. You have agood point, but the Kuryu group were not aware of Genocyber up until Ep2 or 3 fully or how to counteract it. It's possible they made machines that were equal in power, but the Genocyber just kept getting better. I'd say it's vague enough that it works.
