Of course! But I don't want only this song, I would like to buy the CD online because I always liked anime soundtracks, and you are talking about ten years ago. That's why I want the name of the CD. And thanks for answering!
I wish I was more help. It came from one of those bi-monthly serials, those big thick books you'd get every couple months just loaded down with anime items, like the Sears equivalent to a Manga? If that helps.
The most interesting part of Genocyber is that it is one of a few anime that actually sticks to the cyber punk genre in terms of being dark and edgy. Most of the so-called cyber punk anime is actually post-cyber punk in terms of being less pessimistic and more realistic, even having some cooler gadgets and aspects of a crapsack world disguised as a happy world.
The only other one I have seen that I would call a true cyber punk anime would be Texhnolyze, and that one is a little bit mixed with Diesel Punk. Though then again, Genocyber is part Bio Punk.
The storyline is horribly confusing, but you're right, this anime is so touching, specially the episodes 2 and 3. The scene where the ship is being taken by the monster made me really sad, I don't even know why. That was so brutal, just like real world...
I dunno, I couldn't help but appreciate Genocyber in its whole, regardless of everything wrong with it. It succeeded in breaking a taboo in the anime industry that even Akira didn't tread upon, and that only hard-hitting stories like Barefoot Gen bothered to touch bases on. I think Genocyber inspired a lot of risque titles like Elfen Lied, Tokyo Akazukin, and even Corpse Party. They probably wouldn't have existed if Genocyber didn't. Believing this, wrong or right, I'll stand by Genocyber. :D
I'm not sure if I'll ever watch this (I did okay with elfen lied, but there's only so much cruelty and gore combined I can take) but I do freaking love this song enough to listen to it on repeat over. And over. And over.
In all honesty, whilst Genocyber may be more violent and gory than Elfen Lied, Elfen Lied seems to have more scenes you'd describe as cruelty and despite how dark Genocyber is, Elfen Lied is darker, IMO if you can handle Elfen Lied you can handle Genocyber, full episodes are on RUclips, I suggest watching em, have fun!!!
I haven't seen Elfen Lied, haven't really been into a lot of anime recently actually. But I get where you're coming from, this was one of the first anime's I ever watched and I must of been like... 7? Also Devilman, but I never saw that as traumatizing for some reason... Genocyber freaked me the hell out though.
This is far less traumatic than Elfen Lied imo. You don't really feel anything for the characters in this one. Maybe the little boy in Ep 1, but that's barely worth mentioning. Plus in my eyes, this is only a 3 episode OVA, the last two are completely worthless and they added Genocyber into them as an afterthought. It's worth a watch for curiosity's sake. SO if you haven't seen it 8 years later, it's definitely worth checking out.
Best thing about genocyber at all! The Scene in the third OVA when she is finaly transforming and just stands in the sky with the burning world in the background and this song kicks in! EPIC!

The plot was hard to follow at times but this show is definitely one of my favorites (at least when it comes to 90s anime.) I personally think this is an anime judged way to quick for it's brutally at times, it didn't hold back. which, in my opinion is one of its most interesting points.
They call nowadays mangas violent well lol back then we had Fist of the North Star, then Dragon Ball , then Akira , then Ghost in the Shell and this masterpiece GenoCyber that was ahead of it's time . Yes GenoCyber is maybe hard to understand the first time you watch it but thats what VHS or DVD are for to watch it multiple of times .
defiraphi at old Dragon Ball had blood and violence, things what not exist more in Dragon Ball Super. Dragon Ball Super = generic villians (except Goku Black arc), weak deaths no-emotional of characters, generic forgetten soundtrack, weak fights, no blood and etc.
the instrumental was used on the Us Magna corps previews. That played before the movie on your VHS tape. Of course Genocyber was the first anime they show in the perviews, since the song was from the Genocyber soundtrack

Hi , do you know who's playing guitar on this song ?
Classic OVAs are the best.
Especially with music like this.
I agree, I just wish that Dianna’s and Ryu’s voice actors were either given better direction or just changed to people who actually can act.
"I want you and love you Fairy Dreaming."
On a sleepless night, I count the stars
I call out to you once again
Glittering illusion in the roaring city,
the blood-like "Midnight"
"Here really" The precious
little lie I couldn't tell
My love of one night's dream,
Never again, [will] the dream [come]
It hasn't the power to stop time and yet still...
I want to keep remembering Now.
"I love you Fairy Dreaming."
Ahh show me the dream, the last dream,
the sweet night under the midnight sun is just an illusion
but just for now
"I love you so."
From that day, I kept embracing
the precious little lie.
So now finally I can tell you -
