how well do they hatch when kept indoors? I had my quail in a stall in my barn...2 out 5 hens laid every other day, I had to move them to a west facing wall and open barn door and now we are 5 eggs for 5 hens per day every day. I'm looking to improve my set up, I currently have them in an aviary cage, 1 rooster to 5 birds, and the 4 other roosters are going to be dinner because they scalp each other.

I am new to quail, and I started with your incubation video and found myself here. Anyway, was wondering if you lack of hatch rate might be from your ratio of males to females? 1:7.5 ~ thought max most breeders suggest is 1:5 and recommend 1:4. I don't know, you may have it figured out by now. Just trying to be helpful as I thought about what you said in this video.
