Walmart JAOM Mead - It's easy!
raisingquail.net/
Here's a great, simple mead recipe for anyone who's interested in making their own mead, but not sure if they really want to dive into it big-time and spend a lot of time and money trying it.
Hard-core mead makers, please don't bash me here. This is for the first time mead maker. Those interested in more sophisticated meads will find the proper way to make them.
Here's the cost break down and ingredient list:
1 Gallon Water: $0.88
3 lbs. Honey: $7.49 (5 lbs. was $12.48)
1 large orange: $0.88
Whole Cloves: $0.10 (there are hundreds of cloves in one jar - you only need two. One jar was $3.97 so I estimated)
Cinnamon Sticks: $0.40 (there were 10 sticks in this jar - you only need ...

Indoor Aquaponics Humidity Control 3 20 18
Просмотров 4446 лет назад
raisingquail.net/ When I started the indoor aquaponics system in the quail house I had a really bad humidity problem. The condensation and ice build up was out of control. But I came up with a solution: a vent fan and a dehumidistat. Now the humidity is under control and life is good. This is the dehumidistat I got: amzn.to/2FPEYlx It was about $10 more at Home Depot, so Amazon is the way to go...

Here are the grow lights I'm using: amzn.to/2HRpqdk I'm very happy with the results I'm getting from these. The plants are taking off! Check out the blog for more info: raisingquail.net/

Aquaponics Part 1
Просмотров 3216 лет назад
raisingquail.net/ I'm giving aquaponics a shot. Living at 9,000 feet elevation, the growing season is so short here that it's just hard to grow stuff. Maybe this will give me a better chance at growing some of our own veggies. The aquaponics setup is in the same insulated shed as my quail. I figure that a heated 100 gallon tank will help keep the space heater turned off (probably offset the cos...
Rubbermaid Stock Tank Drain Valve Installation

Rubbermaid Stock Tank Drain Valve Installation raisingquail.net/ I'm installing a 100 gallon stock tank as part of an aquaponics system and thought I'd share how I am installing a valve to easily drain the tank. The reducer is 1-1/4 inch by 3/4 inch which allows you to screw it into the bulkhead, then attach a standard 3/4 inch garden hose type of valve on there.

Tread sealer is not needed as the gasket is doing the sealing.

The drain is 1 1/2", how does a 1 1/4 reducer fit, is that how it works, I'm so confused.

I want to share how I solved the slow leak on my new Rubbermaid 100 gal stock tank. As others have noted, the seal is achieved by the gasket and not the threads. All that was needed was to tighten the bulkhead nut a lot (obviously not to the point of cracking) using channellock pliers. No sealant/chemicals/tape required.

I love my Rubbermaid 100 gal stock tank. When you buy your new stock tank! MAKE SURE THE DRAIN VALVE is tighten. You need some big Channel locks. To tighten the nut. on the stock tank, NOT THE DRAIN PLUG! The tanks drain adapter OK Mine was loose. but it never did leak, I just took my finger to see if it was tight? and it was NOT! I would never known this? if i wasn't putting a filter pump on the drain

  • @426superbee4
    @426superbee4 Год назад

I'am going to use the drain on mine, for a filter pump > its 1.5 outlet. So 1.5 nipple down to 1.25 hose out let EASY AS PIE, Then take the inlet hose just throw it over the top down into the tanks i can use plastic ties to hold the inlet hose in place. Love the holes around the top to

The heating pad under is great and not directly under but elevated above the heating pad on low. I used coasters under the corners of the machine and it worked great constand 99.5! Find her video its called 100% hatch rate! RUclips

Ive had horrible hatch rates with this on my quail. Out of 44 eggs i got 6! The trays make the egg goes in all the wrong directions and after i did a 100% hatch rate of chicken eggs. I called this morning they tell me they should be like a 75 % hatchrate or more but i got two horrible hatchrates for quail and 100% for chicken. I think those egg turners need to be changed for quail

Why don't you buy the digital humidifier. It should take care of the problems. Also use blue foam to fill the gap between the egg turner to keep the eggs rolling properly. Cut them at the same angle so the eggs keep a small amount of pressure to jeep them in place. Just a thought. 🙂
