Aloha :) Sorry for the energy drag but today was a bit, well, you know, sigh...... But without a doubt, by the time I got done with this track, yea, floating. Have a great weekend - AWWWRIGHT!!
You're the man, Geebz! After watching you do part 1, I desperately wanted you to experience part 2. One of the best Slipknot songs, and heavier than some of their heaviest bangers! How about that Mellotron section! Ugh! So good!
Everyone always recommends Snuff for the softer Slipknot, and it is a great song. But for me, this song is the best Slipknot ever did in this vein. Just a sublime combination of arrangement, lyrics, vocals and performance. It's just a totally different vibe from what they normally do. And Corey just outdoes himself here. Great reaction, Geebz. Thank you, brother. Mahalo! 🤙
Snuff is just so raw dude. I think there's a few lines in that record, that just so many people feel. Though I'm old enough to remember, pre snuff, vermillion 2 was always the go to for softknot
As a die hard Slipknot fan, looking back at when this album came out, 1st glance I was so disappointed, and now being the man I became to be, I completely understand it!
it was my very first slipknot album so i immediately loved it and wanted to get the two prior albums instantly. weird to get to know a band achronologically. had that with quite a few bands at that time like metallica and korn
I love this album. Especially since Corey's point with his vocals was that he could write without cussing. Big f you for what he was hearing about all the swearing. And it's an amazing album.
Same. Iowa was and still is one of my favorite albums ever, and when Vol.3 came out i was like "here we go! One more great band sold -out to Pop", but nowadays i do have a very different look at it and Vol.3 became one of my favorite albums they have. They were in a place where they just needed to do something different (kinda like Led Zeppelin did with Led Zeppelin 3) and i'm glad they did it... it really grew on me (like Led Zeppelin 3 did).
Part 1 was the frustration of being with a person who's bad for you, part 2 is about being depressed that you have no idea what to do but stay with them. A lot of singers who sing with rage also tend to have just as much sadness. Linkin park has the little thing that give you away, korn has daddy, metallica has fade to black. Also i don't think there was a bass but a cello and a piano but im probably wrong.
I will always say that this is the best soft song Slipknot has ever written. Just another reason I think that Vol. 3 is their best work ever. Every song is just perfect.
I love watching your facial expressions while you listen! If you are digging this vibe, I recommend you listen to Slipknot's "Circles" and "Snuff". Worth a listen, if not a reaction video!
Still here Geebz! Good call doing this song while part 1 is still fresh in your ears. Slipknot has a lot of diversity in their songs. Not a stupid heavy. Although the heavy is my favorite
Slipknot is one of the most diverse bands out there IMO, from Vermilion pt 2 to (Sic) to Danger - Keep Away to Unsainted. One of the many things that makes them great.
Hey brother, whatever’s going on, I hope things get better! I usually don’t comment on videos, but I been following your channel for quite some time now. I’m a big fan of your reactions and connect with the way you breakdown the music. I would definitely love to hear you breakdown more from Mudvayne - L.D. 50. I think you’d really enjoy it. I’d specifically love to hear you listen to “Prod”. It’s beautifully arranged and has many types of elements that you’d like! Take care, brother!
Some of the stuff that Corey Taylor does with Stone Sour, another project of his, is lighter than Slipknot and you might enjoy it. Thank you for all of your reactions!
I want to thank you for doing this. I can't count the number of times in high school when I was depressed that I would listen to this song on repeat, trying and failing to conjure up a reason to live. The loneliness crushed me and I connected a lot with the lyrics, because in my head I thought that if I had someone to love, to live for, that I could drag myself out of that pit. Eventually I did and I'm happily engaged, and reflecting on this song and this part of my past impresses upon me how quickly things can change, how fast your paradigm can shift when you finally look past yourself. Again, thank you.
Your connection to music, your understanding of music and bands exploring different thresholds of their skillset, and your sheer joy listening to it inspires me as a musician (drums) and music lover myself, as well as just a human being. We can all learn something from watching you listen to and talk about music. Keep going. Much appreciated, liked and subscribed.
Chills even after all these years. Every damn time. This was the album that showed me that slipknot had another side. This and Danger - Keep Away. Chills.
One of Slipknot's essential songs in my opinion. This song as opposed to their vast catalogue shows the greatest reach of their musical contrast. Like you said in so many words, buried in their ethos is this vulnerability, a part of their archetype that makes the brutality if their music feel human and relatable... Inside of the rage at it's core is a damage that we all share to some degree.

Man, I don't know how anyone can really listen to that song without getting a little misty. Been a long time favorite of mine and it made me pretty happy to see how much you enjoyed it.
First of all, hope you have a better day tomorrow! This was an awesome reaction / decomposition. I heavily enjoy watching your videos. 😊 Also, did you know that Jim Root (Guitar) and Corey Taylor (vocals) have a side project called Stone Sour which allows them to express some of this more melodic sound? I recommend the entire self titled album but specifically the song Bother you’d enjoy a ton! I would love to see a reaction to that song (or any Stone Sour song). Cheers!
Best reaction channel ever. Hands down. No debate. You're freaking awesome and it really shows how much effort and thought you put into these videos! Cheers from Switzerland
It been fun going through this journey with you, Vermillion pt2 is such a beautiful song and to see your real time reaction just gave me chills because you get it. Thank you and good luck with your surgery!
The album this is from, Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses is one of those albums that, as you say, is a huge part of my soundtrack of life. The whole album brings me such a sense of nostalgia, emotion, memories of the time in my life when this came out, 14 years old. Start to finish the album is an experience, and the way the tracks flow into each other is great. I’ve heard this album front to back so many times I was ready for the drop of the next track 🤣. I love when bands are able to give you the heavy, hardcore stuff, and then come around and give you a different kind of heavy like this song or their song Snuff.
On a melancholy Friday night a song like this harkens back to the somber past … One of my favorite songs from my karaoke days is “Through Glass” by Stone Sour (another Cory Taylor project) another emotionally charged lyrical song in this vein … truly a master of what I call “modern metal power ballads”
Hey Geebz, I'm a long time follower of the channel- I really enjoy getting to hear you discover and dissect music that I love, its like sharing it with a new friend and getting to hear their reaction. I'm an Aries as well (April 19) and a long time metal head. Really hope that you get better soon after your surgery and that you hit up some more Trivium on your channel- would also love to hear you review some Killswitch Engage, Code Orange, and Metallica. Keep doing what you do!
Dont have an insightful comment, but I love you dude! I've been with ya since close to the beginning, and you really relieve stress for me. Keep doing what you're doing man. We love you
That song gives me chills. Senior year of high school I went to my first Slipknot concert. This was a few weeks before Vol. 3 came out, and we were all so excited to hear their new music and after the escalation of Selftitled --> Iowa, I think everyone sort of expected it to go even further in that direction, so we're all sitting there eagerly awaiting to have our faces melted off by the heaviest stuff we had ever heard. The lights go down, show is about to start, and "Circle" starts playing. I will never forget that moment of confusion, at first it's not even apparent you're listening to a Slipknot song, but by the end it had set the mood perfectly for the night to come.
As a Slipknot fan, I'm ashamed to say I forgot this song existed... It's amazing to come back to it though, especially after part 1 and hearing all the musical similarities done acoustically. It sounds a lot more like some of the things Corey did with Stone Sour, and proves Slipknot is more than just a one note band. Love this track, and great review... Glad you stuck with it, even though you weren't really feeling up to it!
Hey, strange little thing you have here. I've seen many of my favorite bands on you channel, but also many artists that I've never heard about, and I'm really, really grateful for those. I love exploring new music, but as the life develops and new many things are happening, I have less and less time to poke around and find it myself. So lately I've become a cliche: man in his 40s listening mostly to the music he encountered in his 20s. But then I've found your channel, and you''ve become my guide, and now I'm exploring new artists and genres again! If I can suggest one thing: I've ve noticed that you never did any Soulfly songs. That should be fixed! My favorite Soulfly album is "Prophecy" and I would like to recommend some songs from this album for you to analyze: "Moses", "In the meantime", "Mars". Or you can do "Flyhigh", which is simple, but catchy as f.
Paul Gray was the bassist for the first 4 Slipknot albums. Everyone in the band said that Paul had an ear for tiny spaces in the arrangements in songs.. A "composer's ear", if you will.... He was an Aries, and so are you, Geebz. Maybe there is something to that, lol. I like to think you heard this one like Paul heard it... Great video, thanks for all of the content 👺✌
Every one of the heaviest metal bands have at least one ballad type arrangement that will crush your heart and soul. And they almost always end up being a fan favorite.
Awesome content! One of my favorite new channels I've discovered! Rock is my favorite genre of music, so hearing you break it down is really interesting to me.
I've written music my entire life and I've always loved arranging little tricks on the background. This album has always been my favorite Slipknot album by far, but for some reason only just now as I was watching you listen to the song I really heard the beautiful gliding background vocals behind the phrase "when she makes me sad". I mean of course I've always heard it but this was the first time I really _listened_ to them. Wow.
So glad you enjoyed this song. Slipknot showcase such a broad range of emotions in their music. If you liked this i think you should definately check out Circle from the same album. Different themes but similar composition.
Aloha! You say you needed it but I needed this reaction! I saw them live last weekend at Knotfest and they played Vermillion pt.1 live. This song has been stuck in my mind and I'm glad to see you react to this! :D
Slipknot has been a part of my life since I was given their free Hot Topic demo before the first album dropped. Powerful, great music cuts through the noise of life and leaves a mark on you and Slipknot has always had that ability for me. If im angry, theres a song for that, if im sad theres a song for that, if I feel like conquering the world theres a song for that, and if I just dgaf that day theres a song for that. Glad you have been able to enjoy them! Good luck on your first step towards becoming the 6 million dollar man with your shoulder repair
The lyrics in this are deep, and there is no concrete explanations from Corey Taylor so most people draw their own conclusions, so there is no wrong way to look at it. A lot of people seem to think the song, part 1 and part 2, are both about an obsessive stalker infatuated with a woman. Me, though, personally, from the moment I first heard it, I felt it was about this ideology of your perfect significant other, the person your family or your friends constantly tell you that you should romance, not existing. The very idea of that kind of person, whatever they may be in your head, is an impossibility. The lyrics in this song touch on that, but also touch on having relationships with various people and trying to 'make them' this perfect person, and it never works out.
Vermilion part 1-2 is story of an attack on a victim told through killers /stalkers eyey and what happens to the victim whilst pt2 is a beautiful the song is a very dark song when you listen to the lyrics with this in mind.
in Stone sour (another project with Corey Taylor as lead singer) there are two tracks called "the travelers part 1" and "the travelers part 2". you can find the same vibe in those too.
I love this song so much. What's so great about this song/album, is also myself remembering the atmosphere around it at that time. Back then (in the days after the _Iowa_ record), the band was still *very* secretive about thier identities outside of the masks, and the internet was still young. It was only just before this album released, in part due to Corey Taylor and Jim Root being maskless in their other project, Stone Sour, that the fans started to see who was really behind those masks for the first time. I can remember all the early forum boards and conversations, the theories... etc. Anyhow, this album in particular followed that theme somewhat, as the finally began to show some more raw vulnerability in the music - it wasn't just this crushing, heavy in your face, kind of metal, but instead, they started to let us peer inside a bit deeper here. Apart from this song, another great example (besides _Circle,_ another good one on this record) is _Before I Forget._ Now the song may be heavy and on brand, but the music video in particular was really the first time they were maskless on camera. Granted, you still cannot see their full faces, but they played the song together (almost studio, live style) and had their respective masks hanging off of gear, off of mic-stands, nearby thier stations. And the camera would show them looking away from the camera, or zoom in close so you could only see their eyes, or mouth/chin, etc. It was the first real "behind the mask" kind of thing for them, and it was really cool and mysterious at the time. And songs like this for me, was sort of the same, but metaphorically speaking. They were letting us peer deeper into who they are. They certainly carried this on with the next record ( _All Hope is Gone_ ). And in the Video for _Dead Memories_ (another great "ballad" type, emotional song) , we see Corey Taylor unmasked, full-face for the first time (at least, in a _Slipknot_ project). And going forward, Corey would continue to do this on occasion, like in _Snuff,_ as well.
So glad you followed up with the 2nd part. No one saw this coming and it took so many by storm. Slipknot really progressed and matured so quickly and they showed just how good they are at writing a heavy song and a mellow song on the same album. Metallica did a great job with their Black Album, Load and Reload showing the world a different side but not only that but a different emotion that their fans needed to feel. Slipknot is one of the best metal bands because of songs like this. They can write an acoustic ballad that shatters your perception of them and make you think twice. Down the track you have to hit the Sweden Gods of Melodic Metal up aka Soilwork - Spectrum of Eternity.
First album I ever bought as a kid.. the intensity of this album was amazing and then I heard this song and I think I felt sad for the first time. Music is good when it invokes a feeling
Aloha :) Sorry for the energy drag but today was a bit, well, you know, sigh...... But without a doubt, by the time I got done with this track, yea, floating. Have a great weekend - AWWWRIGHT!!

Opeth’s album Damnation is literally all songs with this kind of feel. Really good to listen to in rainy days

This broke and mended my heart that you did this song. Thank you.
Such a beautiful moment. Mahalo! Merci beaucoup Geebz.
This is too me, the most emotional song by Slipknot. I love that they did 2 versions of this song and each one stands alone.
Happy one year Geebz 🎊
Was only a matter of time !!! Awwwright!!! I'm still here!

I believe this song is about drug addiction. And considering that the band had a troubled past related with drugs, makes sense in my head.
Vermilion part 1-2 is story of an attack on a victim told through killers /stalkers eyey and what happens to the victim whilst pt2 is a beautiful the song is a very dark song when you listen to the lyrics with this in mind.
5:28 - The german word for passion relating to love is a combination of two words that translates to "creating suffering".
This is worth it. Your process is legit. Surf the wave under you, there's always another forever.
Not many have your deep love of music. I see it! I share it. Thank You!
Was hoping this would be coming, Slipknot brings back fond memories from high school
Thank you for doing this one. Such a beautiful song. This is my favorite video you've made. Keep it up my chap🤘🤙
in Stone sour (another project with Corey Taylor as lead singer) there are two tracks called "the travelers part 1" and "the travelers part 2". you can find the same vibe in those too.
Love you're work geebz as always mate 😁😁, would love to see you hit Mudvayne again, in particular 'pharmacopeia'. Really unique track
FAVORITE track off of L.D.50! I second Pharmaecopia!!
@@sicboi80 agreed! Such a great track
Thanks for what you do! Good luck with the surgery!
My wish came true! I'm so glad you enjoyed this song.
Circle❤
I made an mp3 of pt 1 and pt 2 as one track, and that's all I listen to now.. . 👏 👏 👏
First album I ever bought as a kid.. the intensity of this album was amazing and then I heard this song and I think I felt sad for the first time. Music is good when it invokes a feeling
Drop B I believe 🖤🤘
Ps ….one of my favourite channels, thank you for the insightful and awesome commentary
