This song is about an obsessive stalker who is slowly coming to terms with his obsession and seeing the victim for what she really is, violently waking up..
-The obsessive made an image of a perfect woman in his brain and lost his head in it and then slowly in the end started to realize that he is indeed insane and that the girl is indeed not real, "She isn't real"..
The pt.2 is the result from the first song, dealing with her not actually being what he thought she was, healing, but the lingering effects are always there..
I really like these songs, Slipknot can be such a creative band..
(Also do note that this is IMO, I feel like the gist of it is right at least)

I understand that this is simply a reaction, but it seems so superficial to me that all he focuses on is finding the tonality while listening to the song. I am also an educated academic musician and this proves the sad fact about my narrow-minded colleagues. i think both songs are excellent. and even if you're from the academic field, I can't stop appreciating the technical complexity, especially in the first vermilion version. great music and the most professional performance. great, the joy of musicians at the highest level, no matter what genre they are

    • @montavitte8655

and also, catching the tonality and replicating a piece heard a few minutes ago is not a miracle for an educated musician :))

18:59 this was the first time we seen slipknot transform in this way. Just prior we did get Corey Taylor doing the song bother which opened this door for expansion. But when we got subliminal verses vol 3, it was a revelation. It was deeply powerful and we needed something like this at the time. It’s still a top ten best record for me. Very dynamic and ripe.

Many Slipknot heads may think that their first 2 albums were their best, but this album is their high point. The best written, performed and the way this album was set up, it f l o w s so well from beginning to end.
And kudos to Rick Rubin for getting such an outstanding performance from 9 members of the band.

From late 90'-Early 2000 they are the most melodic, you can find classical traces. Songs such as: Crucified, Torn, Remnants&Asylum, Enough, The Night, Innocence... are recomended!

Also as far as their live shows go, I'd say that Disasterpiece from London 2002 (Disasterpieces live DVD) would be a great example to showcase the raw energy you could experience in their concert when they were in their ''prime''. And with prime I mean as of what they were able to deliver in their performances. Mentally the band was in a very dark place around that time.

I know a lot of people are gonna say listen to their older stuff, but here's a few newer songs that slap.
If you do another slower song I'd recommend Bone Church, its a creepy and unsettling 'ballad'. It was released as a single at the beginning of this year and I dont see many people talk about it.
And for A heavier song I'd recommend Medicine for the dead, also a creepy song released on their last album. Not many people like "The End, So Far" but I think it was pretty good. If it wasn't rushed as the band had said, I think it could've been just as good if not better than "We Are Not Your Kind".

    • @adamgouveia7590
      @adamgouveia7590 11 месяцев назад +1

I loved We Are Not Your Kind, that whole album is an absolute banger. Maybe only Spiders and My Pain were the only ones I didn’t really get into. I still enjoyed them but not as much as the rest. TESF I just could never really get into. There’s a few good songs on there but I just didn’t dig it, and I usually like their different stuff. Maybe it just suffers from being rushed or being sloppy. I really think if they took the time it would’ve been so much different. Not that it’s bad, I just didn’t care for it personally. It’s something I can’t quite put my finger on, I just didn’t feel anything from that album as a whole like I did with every other album they put out.

It’s interesting that Judson’s perception may have been adversely affected by the composers intentions before hearing the track. Omg... you guys are going at lightspeed... I really have some catching up to do. Vermillion is a masterpiece. There ain't nothing really to add to your description. I am not too much a fan of pt. 1 either. pt. 2 is a real tearjerker. As the protagonist in the song knows she is not real and does not want to live in that dream, but he is led by his desire.
Did you get to Psychosocial already? Otherwise that would be a GREAT choice for the next Slipknot song. Because the evolution of this band is spectacular!
Though 3.0 The Subliminal Verses is a fantastic album, I do tend to think that it was also the album the band needed to make in order to shut up the critics that said their concept was evocative for its effect and their lyrics would show how they were lacking true substance. Corey Taylor and the band definetely something to prove and therefore it sounds a bit pretentious at times.
O, and Mastodon hasn't really landed yet? For a true metalhead... you need to get into this! The Last Baron would make for a perfect start, as it is a must-know epic prog metal landmark.

you have one mouth so you can't record your voice in stereo, you can record on stereo track but then one channel will be empty (you will only hear it on left or right speaker) and you wasted 2x space on hdd. he probably panned on mic left one right and that's stereo, mono means same signal from both speakers (hope that makes sense)

maybe I phrased it wrong, English is not my first language. But would'nt it sound better if both voices could be heard from both speakers? That's kinda the point I'm trying to make. I mean, when you hear the news-reader on your tv you don't hear the voice coming from one side of the tv only, I don't know how the technique works, but it sounds stereo to me?@@tprnbs

@@nieksalomons english is not my first language either that's why i wrote " (hope that makes sense)" :)
if sound from the left and right speaker is the same it's in mono and if you play that using one speaker you will hear no difference if you move that speaker to center. in stero you can have something on the one side and something else on the other (like voice in this video, they're mono signals set to left and right and together they make stero sound, if both of them would be in center then it would be mono).
      Hope that makes sense :)

It does make sense, thanks for the lesson:). I'd still would like to hear both voices from both speakers, whatever it's called.@@tprnbs

I've said this many times. I think Slipknot does soft better than they do heavy.

So far, for me, SK only has five good songs. It’s similar to the whole grunge era which only had about five good songs to me. Of SK‘s five good songs, this wasn’t one of them.

Slipknot was cool back in 98 when we were all in high school. People still being into Slipknot now is a rather cringe phenomenon.
