main reason to always listen to the studio tracks first
Either I never new or forgot the video version cut the "sad"s in half and only included the mellow refrain of "she isnt real, i cant make her real" Still a good song but missing something to me. damn MTV/music video/radio requirements
i have the studio version and its excatly the same. I looked up on my CD and its also the same. What do you mean by ending is cut? CD version 3:44 min

@@migueljoaquim2668 I assume they did it to be more radio friendly. In my book, this is one of the best solos from any band, and I am a Pink Floyd fan. This masterpiece is in the list of songs I want to be played at my funeral.
I literally adore you. I feel like you and I would have the most ridiculous and interesting conversations. These are two of my favourite Slipknot songs - Corey is a lyrical genius.

On my Slipknot playlist I have Vermilion pt2 followed by Unsainted and the last 4 notes of Vermilion transitioning into the beginning of Unsainted does something special for me.
I can't believe you still didn't do reaction on "Before I forget" by Slipknot. The chorus is like slapping or punching yuor face. You will understand what I'm talking about when you hear it
Vermillion Pt 1 and 2 are from the perspective of a serial killer. PT1 is the obsession and part 2 is the loss after he kills her
If I'm not mistaken, the virus of life is soon after, and that's when he kills his vision of the love (probably the girl)
I really think you need to listen through the whole vol.3 the subliminal verses. As far as I can tell, it's a love song stretched across an album. The trials and tribulations of what he loves. You have to listen to the album to get the progression, but it's dark and beautiful
You absolutely have to watch the unplugged recording video of "Snuff" by Slipknot, it's much darker and slower like the Vermillion's are.

Love that for someone from your region Wallace & Grommet and Chicken Run are the cultural touchmarks for stop motion.
These two feel very much like an album release of a song and then one of the old MTV Unplugged sessions of the same song.
The stop motion in the music video to part one, triggers a memory of something that I can never quite put my finger on. Something that I watched when I was younger. It definitely makes me think of the Video for Sober by Tool, and to a lesser degree the skeleton fight in Jason and the Argonauts, but there's something else at the edges of my memory. It'll probably be one of those "4am revelations" where I wake up and it his me.
That guitar riff hitting though, in part one, you're getting so close to a full mosh. A couple more cheeky Costa's and you'll be shredding your neck muscles with the best of them. Probably while waving a shoe.
I've always interpreted this song as a metaphor about Corey's drug and alcohol addiction. The video doesn't exactly fit but lines like "enter the night that she came home" "she is home to me" "she's the only one that makes me sad" can all mean addiction. "She" "her" is drugs. "I wont let this build up inside of me" and finally ending on "she isn't real" the addiction isn't real.

To me, he's stalking her. Obsessed with her... there's more to the story on the rest of the album. Very dark. Also, so cool you mentioned Avenged Sevenfold Cosmic. They are my favorite band of all time. I'll tell ya thats been A LONG TIME...

Banger. And thank you for doing both. This is a perfect example of unrequited love. Having the love for someone turn into total infatuation, and having it never returned until they move on and they end up dead to you because they found love elsewhere. So so so so good.

The songs in the music videos are actually quite a bit different than by them selves.. they cut out du much good content, change so many vocals and even added random sound effects. I honestly think you would be getting a better listen if you were to use Apple Music or Spotify to listen to the official recordings. Great reactions as always tho

For anyone who dosen’t know, Corey talked about how this is from a murderers perspective. It’s about a psychotic who is obsessed with a girl whom he can’t have and he’s trying to repress his selfish urges. Ultimately, the murderer DOES let it built up inside of him. Hence part 2 where the girl is dead. I DIDENT WRITE THIS 🤘🤘🤘

My timeline might be off, but I've always thought of Part 2 being what necessitated Stone Sour. I believe it formed just after this -- I could be completely wrong, but almost like it scratched an itch he didn't know he had.
Pretty confident stone sour was formed before Slipknot
Edit: After googling it, Stone Sour formed 3 years before Slipknot so ~12 years before this song released

To appreciate the sentiment of this song and videos, it's quite important to listen to the song Iowa... The last track off their second album. It's long, dark, and very aggressive in places, but sets a very similar story which carries over to this, their next record.
I think Corey still had some things to explore on that theme. - as in, there's a reason why she's lying dead in an Iowa field.
Corey taylor the lead singer has another band called stone sour there's a acoustic live version of a song called bother the audience does the backing vocals and it's amazing

If you like the solo in pt1, you should listen to the studio version, since in the video it got trimmed down a bit.. Not a massive difference though, but I still like it better :)

For me I heard Vermillion 1, and 2 shortly after listening to the song Iowa, from Slipknot, which I think explains how I see this song.
My interpretation is a very dark one, and I would just say this, at least read the lyrics to the song Iowa, then revisit the lyrics here in Vermillion 1, and 2. It might change how you interpret the song entirely.
