Hearing a banjo always reminds me of my Dad. He taught himself to play at a young age. He also taught himself to play drums, which he played in dance bands during the 1930s and 1940s. Not bad for a man who didn't get to attend junior high school or high school, because he had to help with their farm. He eventually went on to work for the Boeing Military Aircraft plant in Wichita, Kansas, for over 15 years, helping build the infamous B-52 Bombers!!! Miss you every day and SO PROUD of you, Dad!!!
And that good ole Mt dew from popcorn was the bomb, him and our Aunt Letha lived at harmen den, bend of the river they were good together.may both of you rest in peace and I'll always Love you both...

My daddy use to make that stuff. I live in the Appalachian mountains in NE Alabama. I never knew where his still was. He died from liver disease at 41 and took that secret with him.

In a lot of cases, the young ladies are stronger and tougher than the young men are. It's pathetic!
I'm from North Carolina and I first tried that stuff in 1962. One of our neighbors would cook it up and he once let us kids try a snort. It was awful. I'm in my 70s now and never touched it again. Ha. By the way, he was in law enforcement. Ha.
