Listening to Popcorn for 8 minutes and I some how feel a hundred years wiser and little sad that his wisdom is gone.
Now imagine all that goes to waste just sitting in a nursing home with no one to share to
@@jackmeyers7805 uw
@@jackmeyers7805 In a purely practical sense, we really need to get the local colleges out there interviewing the old people at the nursing homes. This is done fairly well for WW2 vets (as it should) but it needs to be done in a more comprehensive sense for other interesting people.
His wisdom is still with us brother and we keeping it goin! Strong in 2024.
I can't get enough of this guy, RIP Popcorn.
+Moors Hound same here bro. \0/

popcorn was such a genuine bloke, r.i.p old man, keep shining in the sky
R.I.P popcorn u are such an inspiration
People are like "Yeah yeah, were sick of your water to wine Jesus. Were goin to Popcorn from here on out.
I think he was a genius. He wasn't hurting anyone, why not just leave him alone. He would not have survived in prison, out door person. RIP POPCORN.
Facts of.life
Fuck the government
I agree with you
His sentence was short. He should have just did his time and went home.... RIP Popcorn

If wasn't for the feds popcorn would have never taken his life, and possibly still be here today if he wasn't to sick,I think what made him sick was the thought of being locked up in jail,no place for a free mountain man
yep...Popcorn knew he might die in prison. He chose to go out on his own terms, a free man.
He took his own life because he was dying of cancer.
@@wizardofahhhs759 on the show moonshiners the close friends of popcorns said the police raided his place and instead of going to jail he took his life. He didnt take his life because of cancer
That’s f’ed up
On his headstone is says:
"Popcorn says F*** You"
Mad respect for these pioneer-type Americans. So many make fun of these people, but when shit hits the fan they will be the last standing.
Extremely underrated comment.
True! I know a grip of yt country boys who are solid and no sissy snitches. They hild their ground like one of my own kind. Them yt city folks are too quick to spill the beans and point fingers and work with police. 🤣
Ive always said the same thing, they are survivor's!
He died tho
@@Gamerthinkersman yes- But ! He died under his own terms...
Popcorn was a man of much wisdom on how to live on the cheap. When you can make hootch into cough medicine says alot. And hell it was prolly better for you than what you can get off the shelf. Country folks can survive.
Rest In Peace Popcorn Sutton, Master of the Crystal Moon.
Reminds me of Granny's rheumatism medicine. " Fer pain, one swaller. Do not open near fire.." lmao
Great man
I could have listened to him talk all day and night with his hilarious ass stories!
Maddy M 4:58. That's one hilarious story. And his laugh?? Contagious!!!! I guess since he wouldn't give the assholes in DC some likker, that's why he got 18 months. Popcorn is a legend!!!!
I'm surprised how much he remembers. I had a lil stint with alcoholism and it's sad to say I don't rember those times so sharply as he seems to. Rather impressive actually
@@adamburdt8794 cuz this ain't alcoholism
His laugh and smile is pure joy
yes, it was awesome. especially alongside his 'taters cooked in oil. Popcorn was an excellent cook when it came to homestyle southern food.
burned
I know this is like a decade late but I am extrelly envious! What a trip. What a memory. You got to do what EVERY single person who watched this doc pined to do.
R.I.P. Popcorn best moonshiner ever!!❤️❤️
❤ I miss sweet Popcorn with my whole heart, I loved following him & he made it seam like he was teaching me the ropes 😢 maybe U will usher me into Heaven with the Angels when it's my time Popcorn🙏🤲🕊✝️😇❤
This is the land of the free my ass. This guy wasn't hurting anyone.
He was a gentle soul. Moonshine kept many families from needing welfare.
Govt just pissy cause people found a way to make tax free money. Just like pot farmers found a way to make a tax free livin.
Exactly too much government is the problem
@Rodger Flamingsink this is a lame ass comment.
This man is a great example of how a good man can become victim to corrupt law. The kind of law thats based on one simple philosophy..."You cant do it because we said you cant". He was hurting nobody. Never hurt anyone. But the law caught up with him and he was facing prison time that he never should have been facing so sadly he made sure he never had to suffer the bullshit consequences of corrupt law. R.I.P. Popcorn.
How many jars of LIKKER do you think you've made over the years?.........HELL THEY DONT MAKE NUMBERS THAT LONG. What an answer I haven't laughed so much for years. Popcorn a TRUE legend.
Popcorn always proofed to 100. He's the only moonshiner I've known well.
I met him once. He had family connections with folks my Parents know well. He came by a barbecue several people were having. We all knew he made moonshine. I really didn't think about it too much. He was a likeable fellow.
@@sondrasmith2691I wish I was as lucky as you.
nothing but respect and love too a true old timer rest in peace popcorn your earned it
What an interesting and colorful human being he was. They should have just left this ole' boy alone,
hell he didn't have much time left anyway since he had been diagnosed with cancer
AWESOME, Popcorn was the real Deal, RIP Popcorn Sutton, a true Legend!!
His laugh is so good, a real laugh, relaxed as not worried
Yeah, real youthful laugh
Real life Gandalf! In all seriousness what a humble man.
Popcorn is a legend in my book and legends are never forgotten
I'm from Hawaii born and raised Hawaiian boy and i make some shine I have much respect for popcorn he was an kapuna (we respected old timer in Hawaiian) and he will be missed aloha popcorn and may keakua (God in Hawaiian) be with and watch over all us other shiners aloha everybody respect
I read your speech in South Park voice since it reminded me of that episode about "native" Hawaiians. :D
@@ERWERman i did too
My Daddy was raised up in Little Cove...a northern extension of the Appalachian Mountains in south-central Pennsylvania. These people and their values are what I grew up with. I didn't really appreciate it then, but watching the videos of Popcorn Sutton when I'm in my 60's makes me realize how much I miss Popcorn ...and I didn't even know him.....Lord let us get back to those days....it's so sad out here now...!!!
I live in Central PA and i rarely see any kind good moonshine, ive only had good shine once in my life and it was at a Philadelphia Eagles game back in 2005, since then everything ive come across in my life has been crap so your lucky to have been able to grow up around it at least i think so. I watched RUclips video about Popcorns last run and he said that there was people who would have paid 100 bucks just to watch him do his thing, man i would've paid 500 and did the hard work for him just to have watched popcorn do his thing. I would love to learn this craft ive always had a fascination with how folks made shine..
Why are you lying
“Rubbin’ owkeehall innit”
Sounds like my family. Love it.
My family grew up just a few miles from where this video was taken. Seeing this video was like seeing my grand father again. I personally never met popcorn but my ole man did and enjoyed his finest. I had some cherry he made and it was awesome! Nothing like you taste at ole smokey in gatlinburg.
May his kind soul rest in peace. First time watching this. 11 years later
Reminds me of my grand father. Good video. I enjoyed it.
"Remember" If you are on a jury the law and the defendant are on trial. If you think the law is Unconstitutional or just wrong you have the right to hang the jury. I would have hung Popcorn's Jury until hell froze over. Don't let a Judge or anybody on the jury influence your decision. The founders gave us the RIGHT of Jury Nullification, protection from the government. The Judge works for the Corporation enforcing federal law to protect its revenue. We are under Uniform Commercial Codes, revenue, to the Corporation. The US incorporated in 1871. The IRS is a private corporation, a collection agency for the Privately Owned Federal Reserve.
Me too buddy. What a bunch of assholes
'I don't even guess they make numbers that darn long' 😃🤣🤣 what a great line
I love this guy. He will definitely teach you a thing or two.
I wish - this kind of man lives forever...We need them.
Remember POPCORN !
A True real American legend .. may he live forever in all our hearts n souls!
I like this guy, he uses old techniques and and equipment.
Rip popcorn. You are truly missed by millions of us
That's the real old stuff right there, never harmed nobody. Interesting fellow he was.

Goin' down the road feein' bad hey HEY ain't gonna be treated this way!
RIP Popcorn
I was first introduced to moonshine at age 11. Strongest stuff I've ever encountered. Great to see a legend in action. The world is void without his generation. Too bad they are disappearing. Go Popcorn. RIP.
If Popcorn was not a moonshiner, he would have been. A hell of a good Character Actor! I could see him tons of old western movies. And other roles. I am addicted to watching Popcorn. Thanks for making these videos:SP Videos.
What a man, a good man, this man is what made the people of America a great people back then.
R.I.P. old timer ..
coolest hillbilly ever
Beat me to it! Nothing else needs to be said. RIP, Popcorn.
where all cool have you looked out side lately where is every one my hill is gone pills for shine man my heart Cry's for my cool old dogs no where to run. little to drink
I’ve noticed those moonshiners all wear the Liberty overalls with the green lining on the zipper pocket
This man was a legend ❤ RIP sir
Perfect example of Doing what you want for a living not being work. Only somebody enjoying what they were doing would work that Hard. Yes he's getting paid Good, but if he didn't enjoy it he'd be doing something else making less with way less work involved. Then look at his Self imposed standards, even when nobody would know the difference. He still has his Quality standard and he wouldn't bother making it if he couldn't meet his Quality. Seeing every episode of moonshiners since it's been on, it was a treat to see a much younger JB out in the woods!!! RIP Popcorn, a true American Legend gone to soon🙏🏾🥃🙏🥃🙏
Popcorn conjures up a thousand memories for me. Growing up there were so many instances where someone would say something like him, or give out that genuine laugh like his. It's like he embodied the best of all the good country folk you knew. I know I'm not alone in thinking how cool it would be to have sat and had a cup of shine with him. Once it started to take, well I can only imagine what that would be like.
You got that right...these old country boys will stand with you when nobody else will! All my people are from eastern Kentucky...most retired out of the coal mines , if they lived...Midddlesburg
What a group of true legends , popcorn, cookie, gene and JB raider
Those potatoes looked SLAMMIN!!!!

RIP Popcorn Sutton. YOU WILL ALWAYS LIVE ON!! AND NEVER BE FORGOTEN!!
God bless you Mr Sutton
What I would do for just one taste of his moonshine. Not much a drinker but to have a jar made by him would be worth millions to me
This guy could walk into any bar and out drink anyone!
The coolest man ever if he was still here I would love too meet him
What a legend..cheers Popcorn Sutton and i hope there is enough moonshine in heaven!
It doesn't take a so called star in sports or movies. Hell that don't move me. It's folk like Popcorn that make life a better journey. Brings to mind a Lynyrd Skynyrd song. Simple Man. Popcorn understood himself didn't he. The folks that don't. Don't matter no way. Popcorn is a REAL legend. Like him or not. Would love to have met him.
RIP sweet man ....
What a good guy. He is one of those people you could talk to all day and would be hateful with you or anything. He did what he loved to do!
RIP Popcorn!
That man is one of a kind... Sad that he took his own life. Wouldn't have happened if the law on this issue wasn't so twisted.
God love Popcorn Sutton. Just a man making his living
This man here gives me life. Rip

POPCORN-- Good man, good word, good shine ,
and good times. A true American legend. R.I.P
brother,
Also, once I get established I want to build at least one of the stills just like 'the Popcorn Sutton still'... wood fire heated, copper still pot, cap, etc, slate rocks, and red clay around the fire and of course built all with these 2 hands.
Legend. Rest In Peace, Popcorn. 🌹

I will always cherish the times of The Car Show’s in Maggie Valley where I met Popcorn.
The wonderful meals at Country Vittles .
Best place to eat in Maggie Valley NC ❣️❣️❣️❣️Nope there ain’t numbers that damn long 😅💕
Good old man! Down to earth and face value!
My stepdad had a quart of his liquor when I was little we used it as cough medicine.
Beyond good and evil, he was a great personage as well as a big person. I cried when I read about his death.
At 3:56, when he goes over to the worm and smells it was hilarious. He laughed about punishing someone by catching them and holding their nose to it.
Shit, I would've done the jail time for him... be a pleasure. What a sound guy he was.
The Man The Legend. Popcorn Sutton 👍👍
Looking at Popcorn you would never know he was a millionaire.
really,,
He was worth 13 million when he died
So when he was alive he was rich af?

I'm going to guess you don't know any hillbillies.
You saw that on a yt video, right?
Nothing said can be taken seriously when it comes to Popcorn- look at his headstone that HE made!! (If that's even true)
He's known for saying that each one of his runs was the last.
Just think about Popcorn. Now really think about $13 mil.
Really? I think not. 😊😂😎
popcorn didnt have any money,he was just a good old boy..he would've paid to get out of the mess if he had money
Popcorn Sutton you will forever be my idol!
A sort of drunken medley with Gene Morefield, Cookie Woods and Popcorn on "Ashes of Love" and "Don't Let Them Tear that Little Brown Building Down" then the inevitable "Going Down the Road Feeling Bad"

R.I.P Popcorn
These folk kick ass!!!! Fantastic video. Would love to be with them having a great time.
I can't speak for Moonshiners, but this is all real. He did eventually get busted, but not for this, and it was never used as evidence against him.
