About Jackson:
Jackson began back in the late 1970s, when heavy music experienced a flamboyant and virtuosic resurgence in popularity and a small Southern California guitar repair shop became the epicenter of a new level of shred-approved excellence. Ever since then, Jackson guitars have been universally lauded as the metal guitars; the shred machines-highly original high-performance instruments of distinctive style and formidable substance. From metal’s chart-topping peaks to its darkest recesses, for discerning guitarists all over the globe, Jackson is the only way to go.

I like how he's gotten better as he's aged. Some rockers go down hill but he seems centered and is obviously very healthy and fit.
He totally is! And he’s a super down to earth, decent human to boot!
Phil's got great taste in guitars. They look awesome.
Mat Demaz Jackson is in my blood!
too bad he can't play though HE SUX
This guy is the reason i fell inlove with jacksons when i was 16,now im 32 and own 8 of them and 4 of them are early early years of jackson
What a great guitarist and human being. Always try to see them when they come into town. I do a great Joe Elliot impression by holding both my arms straight out to my sides like wings - my kids don't get it. I always feel like I'm in the company of true "rock stars" when I see Def Leppard. I'm a drummer more than a guitarist and I fully respect how the band waited until Rick Allen was proficient on his electric set up after his accident. Rock on boys!
damn, Phil looks great for a 60 year old dude, looks half his age, and in such a great shape!
We sold the Jackson crackles in the mid 80's and Vivian Came to demo them in our store...such a great time!
Always a pleasure getting Phil to talk about his Jacksons. Thank you guys at Jackson. Now please go and get Rick as well to present his awesome Jackson basses ;)
Great to meet you Phil at a quiet pub in the mall in Brisbane the night before the concert. Was lucky to get 3 of your picks and the playlist for the night!! Been a fan for over 30 years and will be until the day I die when Hysteria will play at my funeral!
I can listen to this animal play all day!!!! Something about his playing style, it’s just the way his sound is. I listen to Def Leppard everywhere I go.
I love Jackson Guitars 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙🎸🎸🎸🎸💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
For those of you who have never seen Def Leppard , you need to go see them , they are totally amazing, I'm as old as they are and they still sound just as good as they did in the 80's , actually I think they sound better, amazing band , go see them it's worth it will blow you mind what us old folks can do!!!
Those guitars are so superb, cool guy!
One of my favorite concerts in the 80's. And the man have not changed much. He is 61. Cool.
WOMEN is a very underrated song . Heard it on MTV when it first came out and it's got killed guitar
I remember sitting in my room at 15 years old, figuring it out. Miss those days...
That’s my favorite song off Hysteria!
Idk why women is underrated it’s such a good song
Phil has got to be one of the coolest rock stars out there- and such an incredible player.
Dude has put some of these guitars on the map as some of the most iconic guitars in rock n' roll history,
He certainly has, amazing player. I would love to know where he gets his t- shirts from , this green one is super cool
Please make X-Stroyers for a wider audience than just Phil :) I want one!
read my mind!
yh tbh i'd love one too haha
I second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh that for good measure 😂
Same here. Take my money type guitar
I'm pretty sure they're available from the custom shop now. There's a few more musicians that have them, as well as some music stores selling customs.
I really want the Jackson x-stroyer and star models to be part of the standard and pro lineups.
Beautiful collection Phil..very nice I must say. Jackson guitars have been my passion since they emerged in the early 80's...and I still love them to this day. It just go's to show that the best things last the test of time Jackson guitars and Phil Collins.
Love how Phil show you how to play the solo in photograph, right to the start. The coolest . amazing guitarst!!!
Love Phil. Back in the day he really could have gone with any of the major brands but he met Grover Jackson, they clicked, became best mates, Grover realised what sound and what modifications Phil wanted and the rest is history. To be objective Phil has been amazingly loyal to Jackson, they went through being bought out/sold to Fender, different manufacturing sites in different countries, all the ordinary challenges that come with both building a business that had been to that point largely in the US dominated by only a few iconic brands, and Phil stuck with them. And they have rewarded him in spades, they've always, no hesitation whatsoever, been ready and able, willing to help and mod out guitars for Phil, create new designs, tweak his termolos, fretboard, the whole kit n kaboodle. And having met him as many have the chance to also do, he is to me special for two reasons.
Firstly, he is a really sincere working class bloke done good, lived, chased his dream, so many sadly don't even know what he did with 'Girl'. Just a really nice personable and shy bloke.
The second reason is he is for me the missing link to one of the greatest 'artists' I never saw live, a song writing genius responsible largely for Leppard's earlier heavier break out sound, he penned some of rocks most iconic songs, and he created some of rocks most timeless melodies, riffs, hooks and bends again in rock history. Yes I'm talking about Steven Maynard 'The Riffmaster' Clark. Steve, being co terror twin was Phil's best mate, reading Phil's book 'Adrenalize' there is one paragraph on that book where I just lost it and broke down. Phil tells the sad story of how he could not attend his best mates funeral, in and of itself gut wrenchinly emotionally, saying good bye, but he goes on to say two things about Steve. First, he says there is not one single day he continues today, ever since that dreadful day Steve passed, where Phil has not thought of his best mate. And also, Phil states it took him years to actually mentally/emotionally process the loss of Steve. That comment came one day sitting in traffic on an LA freeway and the Stones song "I'm still waiting on a friend" came on over the radio.
Upon hearing the song Collen simply broke completely. The emotion of well over a entire decade, the pent up sadness, and anger just hit him and like a dam wall bursting he let all that grief out. A truly wonderful human being, and although I did to be honest prefer Pete Willis, Collen bought to Leppard not only the chemistry with Steve, but that distinctly powerful and seriously musically amazing dual guitar sound that Leppard have never replicated.
And that's not me knocking another shy and really humble bloke in Viv, who as anyone familiar with DIO knows was simply as a young axeman one of the most mind blowing guitarists in the 80's, Viv an play, in my subjective opinion, Phil under the table. Sadly Viv imo is under used, but the two of them have been able to carry on Leppard's distinctive dual guitar sound.
And to see Vivian play, listen to his amazing vibrato and sharp biting notes, Vivian and Phil have and still deliver in spades.
Thank you so very much RB forum for posting this. I cannot wait to see them in a few weeks.
Phil had some amazing left hand technique. When he played the brown hatter club in 86 his hand was a blur going back and forth at speeds you wouldnt believe. He gave 15 male strippers a happy ending that night.
Nice writeup dude.
Wow. Phil is actually wearing a shirt. Amazing.
hardrocknguy hard to believe, huh?
ha ha!
Yeah huh
Jerry's hair flip makes my hormones crazy!!! And that guitar, OMG, makes me cry!!!! AIC 4 EVER
Cornellaholic 1979 lmaooo
Amazing guitars, I love Jackson!!!
Great looking guitars. I had essentially forgot about Jackson guitars.... damn.
Hi Phil Collen.
Wow thanks for view on your amazing Guitars 😊
Phil Collen is a badass. I remember him in Girl. My top 5 guitarist
I still have my 1988 with the, wait for it, "Rainbow Crackle" finish. Oh, yeah. Totally original with the Jackson pickups and Kahler trem. That guitar just makes it impossible to play anything but Hair Metal! ;-)
My favorite guitar player
I love my dinkys!!! And I think I'd stick on to jackson now. I kinda trust em! Love the guitars, and the overall feel. And yeah the slim fast neck in dinkys is amazing, no wear and tear on the hand at all, smooth as butter!
Glad to see you are still using some guitars that still have the pointed headstock.
The X-Stroyer is such a stunning guitar. Just fantastic. Would love to own one of those one day. Just the best-looking guitar design I've seen in ages. I prefer some of the other versions I've seen online previously (white binding, block inlays, gloss finish) over this matte one, but they're just dynamite!
The man knows his guitars. Kudos
Not a Jackson guy Don’t hate them but never really was drawn to them. But these guitars are epic and I would play that crackle Jackson every day it looks amazing
Phil is the reason I bought a Jackson USA Soloist after the Hysteria album came out.
love the guitars, love Phil's chops and he is a class act for sure !
Bloody Awesome!
I'm sure the guitar's he's holding are magical.
i freakin love that black crackle,,i have a 1988 rainbow crackle and plays like butter,,,jacksons for life for me but NO bolt on's
Guitar envy is right. He has some of the nicest looking jacksons. Especially his signatures.
Jackson is in my blood!!
Love the black Xtroyer guitar 😍😍
Phil Collen is the Boss!
I own a 2013 Solar PC1 and now I'm a proud new owner of a 2017 Jackson PC1 satin au natural~ I love LOVE the baked flame maple neck. After seeing Phil's new "Jaxson" PC1 I'm kinda jealous now. Nice walnut top and the new signature Dimarzio pickup!!!
Does the Pc1 have stainless steel frets?
@@Purplino Yes :)
That black Jackson guitar the one with the kill switch is bad ass
Vote Def Leppard into the Rock in roll of Hall of Fame every day.
They will be inducted next year
@@annetteslife it is now almost 2021 and they were inducted a year or 2 ago I believe
the RRHOF is for sellouts, it is a political club
That's cool his son is named Jackson.I play Gibson's and I named my son Gibson.I thought I was the only one to do something like that.
My daughter Ibanez has never forgiven me 😂
My adopted kid Parker is really confused.
Same but somehow people high five my son evh wolfgang
Let me guess... middle name Jimi? 😏
Calling mine 1984 Epiphone explorer with humbuckers the 3rd
Looking forward to seeing you in NEWCASTLE in December Phil!
I still think Phil Collen has the BEST looking signature model guitars of all signature model artists!! There are LOTS of artists model guitars that I love..but his look the best!!!
I LOVE THE MICHAEL JACKSON GUITARS, THE BEST
Plays the Bela during Love Bites...hahaha
Awesome tour Phil, caught you guys in Toronto, forgive the quote "I can't get enough"
Def Leppard my fav band. Love that black one he had in pyromania. I want one so bad
Jackson Guitars 4 Life ♥️👍
Dear Jackson: release the explorer looking thing I want one so bad it hurts
Schecter's E-1 is pretty similar
@@alonehades100 No, that won't do at all. It must be an Ibanez Destroyer...with a rose in the headstock.
@@dusty3913 whatever suits you m8, i just gave some options to our friend here, you know because Ibanez destroyers are descontinued
@@alonehades100 yeah those purple ones look sick, i just want a jackson headstock haha
alonehades100 I got a E-1 FRS Special Edition curtesy of my work..10 yr anniversary..love it! Purple flame and all the bells and stuff!
Nicest guy in rock.
your right- I know his guitar tech john Z.... class Act super nice BOSS !!!
Nice to see some of his old wood again.
I saw him playing Bella - 1992 Rosemont Horizon near Chicago. Great show
who is this shirt-wearing impostor?!
"shirt wearing"😂
Needed to read this 2x to be able to understand it :-)
David ike says he is a Lizard alien that has stolen his skin, so it must be true.
Green is the imposter, I saw him vent!
His Signatures are unaffordable to the average player
colintraveller no shit
colintraveller
I find them too affordable and fear running into peasants playing these instruments
Lol too bad
Might as well do a warmouth build since they’re all natural guitars
Well yeah, duh
i have a multiple amount of jacksons as well.
i plan on getting more
and more
and more...
A lot.
Can’t wait to see Def Leppard’s Rock And Roll induction ceremony.
Wish Jackson would make an Phil Collen explorer copy guitar!!! Like the one he showed!!!! So cool!!! I still like that Ibanez Destroyer guitar that he played in 83-84 during the Pyromania Tour!!!!😄😀😄😃🙂
i very much appreciate that Phil puts the Volume knobs as far away from the strings as he can. Ive got 2 ESP's and theyre the best Floyd equipt guitars ive ever played but theyre dinged with the volume being very easy to hit. Thankfully one of my ESP's is a Custom Shop KH2 and the bridge volume is the middle knob so hitting the neck volume doesnt bother me.
Insane guitars!
Release an xstroyer model JACKSON PLZ I BEG
That X-Stroyer is fucking amazing
You rock phil
Thank You
Happy day late birthday, Phil
Killer tone
Forbidden planet!! 2:46
Awesome guitars, I could never afford one of his signatures so I just build them, it's way cheeper and it's actually pretty fun to build guitars.
Congratulations, you need to make more videos.
Tuned out after High n Dry, but Phil is a grand fella.
Phil You Rock👍
I just bought my 2nd Jackson PC1 and really want the new Audio Lava DiMarzio signature pickup...but I wonder if they will make a traditional humbucker version so I can install it on my Jackson PC1.
Viv was playing an epiphone les Paul on tour £300 worth and still sounded incredible
Cool guitars I like them all
He seems a cool dude!
Lugosi's guitar is very cute!!!
Is it just me, or does anyone else think he's underrated & kinda overlooked?
This dive at The begining of Photograph solo is fucking huge!
Also love to see a Jackson archtop ,hystera style.
Roll on Dublin 👏👏👏👍
That PC1 with the rail single coils and walnut top is gorgeous I wish Jackson would build a few of those but they won't.
You sure Tim? I'd swear one of those boutique shops, out of New Jersey I think, had something similar for sale. Incidentally, that's how I found my way to this video. I'm not a DL fan, but I respect PC as a guitarist, and am strongly considering getting one of his guitars.
I need one them to produce the Phil Collen Floyd Rose asap! Probably would be pricey since it's all titanium, but looks and sounds killer!
0:35 So that's where my Jackson's gone!
I would love to see the signature titanium Floyd Rose. Also with an r3 nut lock system love to see it on the market. The drop in effect I can upgrade all my guitars. Amazingly sweet thing to do.
I've never enjoyed Leppard after High-n-Dry. I'm glad they stuck it out through all the turmoil, and were a commercial success. That's the goal for a band, right? But all the real energy and hard rock I loved disappeared with Pyromania. It turned total commercial. Since then, I only hear them on the radio, or in some grocery stores while picking up food. (Or if I crank the non-updated version of High-n-Dry or on through the Night)
Leppard ar for real! Rewind son
Same here, for years i consider myself as a big DL fan, but, even today i listen the same four albums, the first ones. Couldn't agree more with you, Hysteria is ok, but the rest of their music is boring pop radio music.
I can't believe that they will be inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame
Same here. On thru the nite and high and dry. Only 2 albums I care for.
I know right! Pour some sugar on me? That’s where they lost me.
Jackson... x-stroyer.... everyone and their dog wants one.
Wow, this was more exciting then def leperds actual music.
A Jackson copy of an Ibanez copy of a Gibson, love it
Jackson, if you hear us, please release the Xtroyer !
Blimey so Phil does wear T Shirts !
great t shirt
Just ordered a blue Frost on August 15th. I can't wait. It's really for my youngest son Colton, he likes def Leppard. Phil if you go in the plant can you sign a guitar for colton. Or a back plate, the sustainer plate.the guitar is going to Central North Carolina .thanks your the best. Salisbury, Lexington area.
nataandrichard flora it's a very awesome sentiment but I doubt he's on RUclips reading comments
You never know what will happen.
@@IamRaloPib never know what will happen.he is Kool. met Phil Collen before.
nataandrichard flora I didn't mean to be a downer...I really do wish u luck that he does see it...that'd great for ur son...ud be the best dad in the world...hell, u already are just for getting the guitar then going the extra mile trying for a signature...I wish my dad was that fool back in the day. I didn't realize what a dick I sound like after actually reading my comment over a few times...I'm really sorry for that.
@@IamRaloPib Phil Collen has already signed one of my pc1 model from 2006 chlorine blue. I met him in the 1993 adrenalize tour here in Charlotte North Carolina nice guy .
Phil, do you still have the infamous 1980’s Ibanez Destroyer DT-555? That guitar is legendary.
don't think so. i don't think he'd be playing the xstroyer if he did
Search here for (Rockcandy Live In Toronto 1988). Phil Collen of Def Leppard joins the band on stage for one song! Enjoy the show!!!!!!
Yea...we need a pro series X-Stroyer for the rest of us!!
