Some things will not timegated, like reputation sets of clothing and armor much as you describe but other sets are timegated around yearly events like the ILW Jacket.
This is the best it has performed to date. But it is still, very laggy, with a lot of server hiccups. And one of the coolest parts is that you can steal the idris at the end. I don't think this will be as bad if they can solve the lag issues, and get this to run as smoothe as the rest of the game. (Btw there are a lot of issues with boarding the ship, which they will need to resolve going forward, especially with ships like the legonare coming out soon.)
Yes ship boarding is still in early development and the lag generally impacts events such as this. There is a tipping point where if lag is still at a reasonable level and not turning server fps into a slideshow that these events are great even buggy/with lag.

I just try to do the even, I exploded at (I thought) the end of it, the Idris was still intact I think, but now my History tab says "completed", even if I didn't see the green message. So... does it take some time to receive the email? Because there's no new armor in my hangar for now : /
Yes, you need to do both parts - when you complete the event shortly after you will recieve an e-mail telling you earned the armor and also armor will appear in the My Hangar part of the RSI website.
@yeawhateverdudesure Yeah, that's what happened to us. Spent a ridiculous amount of time removing every threat; got the audio for mission success, only for it to say "failed." That was after an incredibly lengthy Part 1 where several of the Supply Ships were bugged too. No lie, probably spent 4+ hours on it.
What is the point of this armor? You go through hours of trouble to get it but if you die with it equipped you lose it. On top of that you lose it when wipe happens on 4.0
No wipes will impact this armor, it is a set of items given to you in the My Hangar on website - I show a screenshot of the armor set website listing in the how you know if you go the armor set. You also get an e-mail confirming you got it. Yes right now if you lose it without being able to get back to body you won't get it back until next patch - which is 3.23.2 (and its debateable if that patch will have item kiosks allowing for getting this gear back, and will there be a cost in UEC to get it back or not).

XT was buggy.
Managed to get the armor even though it said we "failed."
Same thing happened to me but we actually succeeded and it said we still failed
