The Mark IX was the follow on from the successful MKVIII. This time it used microprocessors for registration alignment rather than motorised potentiometers.
Initially the camera head did not have a fan, to produce a silent studio camera, but in high temperatures on O.B.'s it was re instated. The aperture correction was much improved on the MK VIII with no horizontal black lines, but the noise reduction (coring) produced soft faces with little detail. Wide band chroma encoding produced exceptionally fine pictures
