I love the colorful cactus. I added it to a whimsical painting I’m doing and love it! Works perfectly. Thank you for this video Mine turned out a bit different, less extensions. It’s just fun!
Ellen, very 😃 happy painting. People who want to learn watercolor are so lucky to have someone like you to show them just how you do it. I’m a longtime painter and going back 35 years there wasn’t anyone like you on video . It was a struggle of back and forth. How much water, how much paint, wet the paper, dry paper and on and on. It took a long time to finally ‘ get it’. You are so kind and generous to share your talent.
I live in AZ and have these prickly pear cactus everywhere. None of them have your wonderful color ways. I can’t wait to give this a try! Thank you for sharing your talent and teaching us. My goal for 2020 is to do all your watercolor tutorials.
I loved painting this. In fact, I work with a group of developmentally disabled adults and they had a lot of fun making a rainbow cactus today. I don’t know if you realize the joy you bring to people and how far it reaches. I am a beginner myself and it’s so much fun to share what I’m learning from you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Ellen, you are a blessing!
Just had the opportunity to watch this dandy and the floral minis. This past week, our daughter was a great motivator with us both making a baby quilt top together in just 4 days. Now I have to hand baste the top, batt, and back, then do the quilting and seam binding. Still will get in some watercolor practice, so I don’t lose what confidence I have developed.
Hi from Australia. Thank you very much for all the time you take in making videos for us to learn from. I enjoy your videos and love your florals. This cactus looks so much fun too. I’ve only been painting with watercolours for 6 months so I am learning so much from you. Many thanks. Please keep them coming.
I was scrolling through your account and found so so so many beautiful videos! Thank you for all that great content. Today I've painted this gorgeous cactus and l loved it. Thank you Ellen!
Took me all afternoon but mine came out nice for a rookie. Thanks. It was super fun but my paints not as vibrant. Do u think cuz they r cheap? I did paint on wrong side of paper. 🤷♀️🤔😉
Love it! Other than the one growing out the side horizontally it looks like my Bunny Ears cactus. I wish mine were this colorful. Fun! I'm going to try this.
Such a beautiful painting! I have the hardest time getting my Dr. PH Martins to behave on the arches paper. I always end up with fuzzy edges. Any tips?
FantAstic! The white dots of gouache give it such a pop!

Hi Ellen. There is a tremendous amount of glare on the paintings. A large portion looks like silver paint until it begins to dry.
Love it, love it, love it!! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Beautiful inspiration Ellen , I love your banjo music choice ! I didn’t hear a thing 🤷🏻♀️ 🤣 .
Oh my colors... I love this.. Thanks for the video.
