Exciting stuff starts at 2:20
2:48
LoL
Hi, I have the same problem with the engine start as ke in the video. What was the solution to this boot
PdriveTV: Exciting stuff starts at 2:20
Renault: No, it won't
Lol
Most of the video is spent blipping the throttle, i think it is a testament to how good Renault have actually made this little 1.8lt 4 banger sound.
So close to achieving a sub 14 sec 400m. Very good review! :)
The original test sample saw your previous videos and was to scared to do the 0-100 and the braking test :P
This is the 2nd breakdown YT clip I have seen for the Megane RS.
It was just the pump, it didnt break down
I rented one of these on a Spa trackday a few days ago, what a car, the automatic transmission also shifts very good and is keen. The only point where I wish I had more power was the very top of Raidillion which is essentially a substantial hill, any other point on the track and this little 1.8 turbo just flies🙌
That’s a fantastic car and IMO the best value in the segment...!
i30n says no
Should have stuck with the Walbro fuel pump units fitted to the older Megane. Gotta love these Bosch low pressure fuel pumps.
sounding better stock than many other cars nice renault
The fact that Renault sell so few of these in Australia and had parts says a lot. They have always be great with parts in Australia at worst next day supply and repair.
The 19's on the Megane RS has always been 235/35. Got the same on my 2011 model.
Yeah and the RS Trophy R got 20" with performance pack but i dont have the dimensions of tire
Megane said “mais nonnnn pas aujourd’hui 😵”
Is that the first time you've had a car break down on one of these tests?
Great question. Over the years we've had a 2018 BMW 530i stop and not restart in very hot conditions (although not specifically during performance testing), and we've had a Land Rover Discovery fuel gauge play up which essentially caused us to run out of fuel (the gauge was showing half full). We've also had flat tyres and other little mishaps, but not the car's fault etc. Considering we've tested around 1000 vehicles over almost 10 years, these are some pretty good odds! :)
PDriveTV Good odds indeed. Great footage as always.
@@PDriveTV So did you do the same and show the car not starting on the German cars? Or was this just done on the French to take the piss?
@M9R 430 Yeah because the Megane RS just ate them on the tracks. Nobody like to lose !
I love the reviews. I just hit the like button even before watching😂
Much appreciated! It encourages us to do more :)
That fuel pump issue was a shocker 😮
Beautiful Beast !!!
Best looking and most powerful hatchback in it's segment. When come it India ?
In India you got better than that from France, The Rafale ! 😆👍👏👌
Suspension is too stiff for Indian roads.
I like the car although the dash is horid and the speedos polling rate aka refresh rate is way too slow
Sounds great! What a shame that the car had a issue right away 😂😁
With opf/gpf?
Didn't you saw before the video that the car wasn't working haha and it's almost impossible for a new car to have a failure on a fuel pump
Superb car
Please, test 100-200 if the car is FWD and has a lot of power
just look at the 1/4 mile trap speed
Renault to PDrive ; one more negative review and I'm not gona start!
French cars and tiny cupholders - the struggle is real, I have a traffic and I've had to buy a long skinny travel cup from nespresso to pour my servo coffees into
along with a cheese holder 😁 how have u found the car to live with? Interested...
@@Senninha1960 I just upgraded to the 2021 model the 2015 was painful. The new one had addressed almost every single criticism of the old one. So far it's great.
Oh and in 6 years of ownership nothing ever had to get repaired, very reliable
@@OneManBandWoodworks oh the 275 ok 👍 the new versions seem pretty epic, just sold my M140i which was awesome just not a very stiff chassis when loaded up, will definitely test drive one, cheers sir 👍
As an I30N owner, apart from that absolutely hideous engine bay I do find these things look awesome. How long will a 1.8 litre producing 220+ KW last though ?
People asked this same question years agi when 2.0 turbos started making V6 and V8 horsepower figures. Engine technology advances and become more efficient, it's not necessarily unreliable because its more powerful than predecessors
Renault have been around 120 years, reckon they know a thing or 2 about vehicle construction
@@dean8067 Yes and how many 2.0 high power turbo engines last as long as their V6 and V8 predecessors ? There's a reason you don't see high mileage high powered 4 cylinders for sale that has not had an engine refurb.
@@war13omerta66 Renault are literally famously known for being unreliable your comment doesn't really make sense lol
@@ashcosmo3854 Renault are famously known for their unreliable electronics (which is not true nowadays anyway), they haven't made a single unreliable gasoline engine since 90s.
That oem exhaust sound ?
yep
starts at 2:20. lo fate apposta, manomettete le auto per screditare il marchio francese voi tv inglesi e tedeschi
Looks like Renault needs to start manufacturing better fuel pumps but still the megane rs is a good performance car.
They are made by Bosch
Shifter takes 10sexonds to shift
Sa m étonnerait pas que vous aller tomber grave amoureux les anglais ❤
First test car wouldnt start lol
That’s one way to sell a car, comes with a faulty fuel pump
Looks like a tablet slapped onto the centre dash 😅
Tesla: hold my bear
BAHAHAHAHA the test car died
Because of a German Bosch pump you dummy.
These look and sound the goods but like many Aussies I just can't do French cars. Too weird and reliability is woeful...this vid did not suprise me re the fuel pump. Shouldn't happen in today's age!
Many years ago I was supposed to take an accord Euro on a test drive but the same thing happened. I still think Hondas are reliable. I've had three Renault Sport cars, all have been bullet proof. My current Clio IV is stage 3, no issues.
Cee anecdotes.
@@Kvasiir as is this video, yet everyone runs to say it's evidence of French car unreliability.
Meanwhile Toyota just made a recall about fuel pump issues... don't tell me that they are French 🤨
Do a quick Google search at what are the least reliable car brands of the last two years and you'd be quite surprised that Renault isn't one of them! A few of the Germans ... On the other hand... Just putting it out there 🤷🏻♂️
What about amg a45?
2 times better bcs of awd but sound is almost same
I hate that speedometer
Definitely the most laggy digital speedo I’ve ever seen.
Ikr i could barely see the gears
😂
It is hideous
I dislike it too, it gives the impression that the interface is cheap. Hyundai/Kia Speedo refresh rates are nice and quick ie. i30N digital speedo.
@M9R 430 that's not the point. When you're paying a lot of money you expect a lot. And a quick refresh rate is not that complex.
2:20 French reliability 🤒🤒🤒
Fuel pump is probably Denso (Japanese) or Bosch (German). Car brands don't make their own auxiliaries, almost always done by OEMs.
Many years ago I was supposed to take an accord Euro on a test drive but the same thing happened. Japanese reliability 🤒🤒🤒
@@blake301987 They are Bosch
with a german bosch fuel pump
Love Mégane but such a waste if buy as an auto
Renault doing Renault things, random problems everywhere, mine likes to do wierd stuff all the time
Oh dear... awesome car though
Megane > Golf
Kind „lel“ from my side
Some people could kill u for this comments 😂😂
The steering wheel on the right...Merde !!! 🤔🙄🤨😒
the speedo is horrible, its refreshing the speed at like 1hz
I dislike it too, it gives the impression that the interface is cheap. Hyundai/Kia Speedo refresh rates are nice and quick ie. i30N digital speedo.
@@XQoozMii Yeah, if your stuck with the digital speedo then they should at least do a good job!
Car exterior looks nice though in my opinion
In this case 100% fault of the camera. I regularly drive one of these and the speedo is instant.
This car farts :)
Probably an old Nissan engine tarted up
Nope.
もうちょっと正確に測って欲しいね。
And that's the end I'm not gonna own a Renault
need better exhaust
Nice ! Amazing hot hatch. But the Civic type R is still faster than the 300hp Renault Mégane RS trophy !
@M9R 430 The Honda civic Type R is still the Fastest Front wheel drive hot hatch in the 20.8km Nurburgring route . The top speed Renault claimed for the Mégane RS trophy is 260kmh (161.6mph), the top speed of the Honda civic Type R is 270kmh (168mph) ! So if the Honda civic Type R is a tenth of a second slower than the Mégane in 0-62mph that means nothing !
@M9R 430 the time is 5.7" in 0-100kmh for both of them (factory claimed)!
Not only that, the Honda will start.
@@user-qv8sc7tc8u sorry to burst your bubble but the Mégane claimed it's crown back on Nürburgring a while back.
It is really farting lol
Faulty fuel pump in a new car?......hmmm
...made by Bosch.
I love my Trophy R . Way more capable of the Type r
Lol Type R is more capable and faster in Nurbugring than Megane Trophy RS Trophy.
@@cooleye8887 Lol can you even read. The Trophy R , limited to 500 worldwide... Is faster on any track than the Honda Type R, including the Nür.
French QuaLiTy
French quality- dont you mean japanese? A Renault is basically a Nissan
@@bengilbert5117 LOL where did you get this info? your comment makes me laugh so ridiculous.
Fart car
Hahaha it broke down
Oh fuck me ....I am French . But come on, the fuel pump went out on a new Renault , plus it sound like crap , or more like an old Opel GT. WTF
What a hunk of trash, 1992 want their dash graphics back
It’s junk because the dash graphics aren’t the best? Yes, because that is truly the measure of a great hot hatch...
It’s old tech; the latest Renault GUI is far slicker and more contemporary, and it’ll be in the midlife refresh of this landing in Europe any day now.
They ruined it by not having a manual option and the electric handbrake is a no no for a real driver.
Erm. The 280, RS trophy 300 and trophy R both have manual options. If anything the trophy R only comes in manual.
Not that reliable 👎 as the old megane rs is 👍
seems like renault aint reliable LOL
Bosch fuel pumps aren't reliable, you mean?
Dash is ugly and most modern cars sounds like shit. This one too.
Achète Renault, repart en vélo 😂
Ont à jamais su pourquoi ça démarrer pas ...
c'est drôle, j'ai une 4RS et jamais rentré en vélo, ni avec la GT avant elle.
french car lol audi s1 destroye 230ch
Renault, Renault, Renault ... oh boy
I would rather get a used Chrysler 300 SRT for that price any day of the week.
P.S. that dash and speedometer look horrible.
