So my buddy race dirt track for a living for 50 yrs, he always told me when he first started racing he use to get at the track early and look at other people's cars and always worried that they had better stuff and he started to doubt his equipment and self, so he changed his progress. He started to get at the track last and worried about himself and his own equipment and he started to win like crazy I think he's won over 600 feature wins and in the national hall of fame.
That's a great mindset shift to move into a place where he could be successful! There's far more mindset work than many will admit to. My last drag racing season at my home track before it became warehouses, I pitted off where I was nearly by myself, and I could focus on my stuff. I had 2 or 3 others in deiffernt classes that realized what I was doing by the end of the season, and we pitted near enough to communicate, but not so close we were on top of each other. It was the single biggest shift to realizing that doing my thing was the most beneficial thing I could do with my racing program. I won the points chase for my class by a solid margin that year.
@SnowFamilyRacing true we would get there so late we would have to pit on the side of the road or the car parking lot, it would be so dark we couldn't see nothing. What track are u talking about that closed
@SnowFamilyRacing man everywhere is closing, I went to school in houston tx, the nhra dragstrip closed there. I'm live around chattanooga tn, we have lost atlanta, Memphis, nhra tracks and 2 dirt tracks around here. Every week seems like another track
I'm currently near Kansas City house hunting and I70 Motorsports Park is building a drag strip. Flying H (what they're calling it at I70 Motorsports park) drag strip already has the NHRA sanction for next year.

Rocky Mountain Raceway in West Valley, Utah. They closed at the end of 2018.
