In this video, we have a LENGTHY showdown of dark vs bright cymbals.
When you first start getting into cymbals and drumming, bright vs dark isn't something you typically think of.
21 years ago, I had no idea there were so many differences in what makes a cymbal sound the way it does. (taper, dry, large hammerings = more complex sounding cymbals, etc.)
Over the past several years, I feel like I've learned a lot more about dark vs bright cymbals and which one is needed to serve the music really well.
I've come to love my Sabian HHX over the past several years and don't plan on looking back anytime soon. However, our ears will ALWAYS be changing as musicians and it's cool to see that over the years in your drumming.
I hope this video helps you in deciding which one may be better for you. There is no right or wrong and I'm still learning everyday.

Thank you for this! I’m putting together my cymbal setup after years of not playing. I’ve always thought brighter the better for my personal taste but the darks sound amazing as well. Love your kit by the way! Is it a Ludwig? and 26” BD is very cool!

Bright hats always sound better to me. I have 2 dark rides that I'm not a fan of, but if you're practicing alone... Dark might be more enjoyable.
