Pop the hood, or Jack up your car and take a look around. Also use the resources at your disposal (RUclips, Forums, Books/Manuals) to dive into the systems of the automobile (Engine, Brakes, Cooling, transmission and Suspension). A few days learning each would help you know where to start with troubleshooting. Let me know if you have any other specific questions as you get into it. I Don't know everything but I possibly could speed up you getting the answer and I could learn something too.
