BMW X5 | No more knocking sounds from the front | E70 Part 8 | Project Big Trouble
In this video I replace the thrust arms and strut mount bushings in my 2007 BMW X5 (aka E70). The strut mount bushings eliminated the knock that was coming from the front suspension. Because of an accident, I tried an unconventional way to replace the bushings. It looked promising but it didn't work.

I've run into this problem before, I end up cleaning and reusing the old slide shims. I think sometimes these aftermarket companies push the compatibility mark, if the shims don't fit tightly in the bracket you'll have problems down the road. I do think you made a great video illustrating this job.

B) I disconnected the radiator hose in front of the alternator. This make access to the lower mounting bolt and moving the alternator around much easier. C) I did not touch the radiator support crossbeam, fans, or radiator(what a time saver) D) I removed the oil dipstick and exhaust heatshield. This allows you to turn the alternator pulley facedown and pull it out toward the center the vehicle next to the radiator fill E) Be extremely careful. There's thin wires connected to the underside of the bracket at the back of the alternator. These wires go down to a sensor below the alternator. You really cant remove these wire until the alternator is pulled out slightly. It would be extremly easy to accident rip these wires out and many videos fail to metion them

body-wise, all you need to take off is the front bumper. The stomper is the 4 screws that hold AC condenser and radiator together. once bumper removed (13 screws) there are literally holes for those four screws in the stuff you removed.

Is it up to you to make sure your vehicle isnt tampered with or stolen while in storage. Or do the staff do routine checks. Security cams & the gate

There are timed gates for the renters and they have 24/7 surveillance. This place also makes you carry insurance. And, no entry by anyone after 10 pm. You can get out though. But, I'm sure it depends.

I had to replace my clutch on my Honda Cr-v at the start of november 2022 out in the freezing cold since i had no garage or a roof and I wanted to finish before the snow came and i made it to the finishline just a day before snow came. I am looking at this video to prepare for My mothers car if the clutch is ever going to fail on it.
