I know this is an old vid,.but Ive just followed this here in the UK...step by step.....and Bingo....works like a charm.....thanks guys for sharing this ....yes it is still relevant after all these years .
Outstanding video! Worked like a charm on my MVH-2300NEX!!! Thank you! I can finally catch up on my firmware that’s been out of date for probably 2 years.
Your advice was good. It was an afternoon job because it was more of a pita to dig the aftermarket harness out and reconnect it with very limited space to work with behind the dash. I think, I seen this with some higher end Pioneers, but it should be a screen option and disclaimer given to disable the parking brake to view files, update firmware, bluetooth and watch dvds. They'res too many basic features wasted without a bypass installed.
Actually some pioneer models actually do have that feature from the receiver standby screen in the bottom left corner 1 inch up 1 inch in from the left hold the screen for 15 to 30 seconds and a confirm message will pop up in the middle of the screen that says turn off/on drivelock select "turn off" and your DVD player and Bluetooth features will work without the remote wire. At least almost every Pioneer receiver in the last 5 years I have owned has done this. Funny thing is it is not mentioned in the menu you have to know it's there. The only receivers that don't have this option is all of the NEX and the NAVI receivers on those the remote wire has to be bypassed using a micro bypass switch.
7/20/23...LOVE THE CHANNEL...PLZ HELP 😁 Going to buy the Pioneer dmh t450ex. Im going to use the universal parking brake bypass, or traditional ground out method for bypass. BUT if Pioneer Weblink has to have location access from my phone to work, will that ultimately STILL DISABLE the video making it unwatchable as if the parking brake is engaged, eventhough I have the parking brake bypass installed???? Wont buy radio IF this doesnt work..BIG THANKS OF COURSE🤞🤞
Hey I followed you tutorial and it works but I'm getting brake light on all the time when driving ,do I remove the green bake light that's hooked up to parking brake and only connect it to the bypass wire?
So what do we do if our vehicle does not use the blue remote turn on? I only connected the blue wire on my aftermarket harness adapter so the wire wouldn't be loose from the receiver wire but my vehicle does not use the blue wire there is no pin that connects from the factory harness to the aftermarket adapter. I guess my question is will it still work even though my vehicle does not use the remote wire?
Hey your videos are great first off i just had a question im looking to install my pioneer avh-1300 nex head unit into a 2007 toyota highlander but the vehicle side harness doesnt have a remote start wire can u help me out on installing my micro bypass thx
Firstly, thanks for the informative videos. I see you connected Blue and Red accessory wire together in radio harness and then connected it to Red on pioneer wire plug. Is that Blue wire on radio harness for antenna? I have Metra 40-NI12 antenna cable. Debating whether to connect antenna Blue wire to Blue/white or Red accessory wire.. Please, advice.
Recently I purchased a stereo bypass and installed it on a 2015 Chevy Tahoe. Originally I installed the bypass with the green wire connected to the radio and the truck harness. I later went for a drive tried watching videos and learned of my mistake by watching your video. I took the dashboard apart one more time and only connected the emergency brake light green from the radio harness directly to the bypass. I installed everything again and tested with no luck. The new unit I have is a Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX. Do you think Pioneer is doing something different on this new receivers or is it something that I did previously and possibly damaged the bypass. Help please, Thank You.
Did you connect the green wire to the green wire going back to the car stereo? I think I put it on the wrong side and mine is going into the body of the car.
I have a pioneer that has a ready made harness, it has something that looks like a bypass already on it that’s connected to the harness, this was put together by crutchfield, I have the three wires bypass that I purchased separately, would like to send you a pic so you could see it and maybe advise me how to install the bypass, however don’t know how to send you a pic. Thanks for any advice Ray

Hey guys- know you're in Cali at the convention and GREAT content by the way. Love the show and your channel! I have question bc i'm having my kenwood excelon installed by best buy "that place that buys best" and i'm sure they're not gonna ground the parking break wire for me. My question is this: I have the microbypass that you're showing there, but wondering if I might be able to just clip the parking break light green wire and ground it to the unit itself or since the harness is already wired up I HAVE to splice into things this way like you're showing. Hope that makes sense.
I've got a question. This guy's silverado doesn't have a vehicle's amp so therefore there's no amp turn on wire. I connected the blue to the pioneer's amp turn on and it's not working
Hi, saw your video, cool, I have the pioneer avh-501ex dvd/cd player. Got my bypass, all I need to do is connect the bypass to the pioneer? Noo need in cutting into parking brake wire.? Thx
Hey Dude, love all of your videos. I just got the Apline KTA-450 and the Apline iLX-W650 still in the boxes. Would to see how you put these bad boys together , your way. Keep up the great work. Peace! ~Sam~
You guys do great straight to the point videos that make it easy for DIYers like myself. One question i do have that i havent seen yet is how to connect the micro bypass on a pioneer avh-4200NEX HU with an RP5-GM11 interface already installed? Any help here would be appreciated considering the harness connections now differ.
Quixote Cassius we could definitely do a video on that. You are going to want to cut and cap or the PAC's break wire. It needs to be radios lt green to bypass only, no car.
So I tried your suggestion and the micro bypass does it job but now I do not have steering wheel controls. I will review my PAC diagram but I wonder could this be due to your suggestion of cutting and capping the PAC brake wire? Since the PAC doesnt see that signal it doesnt allow activation of steering wheel controls. Why would I not just tap into the lt green radio parking brake wire leaving the PAC parking brake wire connected? Your help here would be appreciated. Thanks
Quixote Cassius you may just need to re program the PAC. The break wire will not have any effect on the the performance of the PAC. The 2 wires do not play nice together. We pull the unused PAC break wires out of the plug when we do the installation.
Ok, before I seen your response, I tried to troubleshoot some and I connect the PAC brake wire to the lt green and micro bypass and the steering wheel controls did come back and work as before I connected the micro bypass so that was interesting to discover. Now my subs are not hitting as they were before as they would drop and then all of a sudden come back which may be a connection issue with my wiring since I didn't solder or use butt splice connectors and crimp the wires together. I will go back and fix my wiring but you are suggesting I should not have connected the PAC brake wire to the micro bypass although my steering wheel controls are now fully functional again? Do I need to purchase something to re-program the PAC? I had this installed at a shop so I didn't initially program it. Sorry to turn this into a forum. If you have a forum I will be happy to carry this discussion there. Thanks again for your responses and advice.
I'm wondering if its because some radios, including newer alpine and pioneer require a double negative, or "pulse relay," I've heard it referred to, as well.

I have bought the bypass but I don't have a clue what I am doing or what I will find wiring/harness wise... one thing I don't understand in the above video is: "isn't the green brake wire currently hooked up to the brake? so in the video you cut it and splice it with the bypass... what about the other end that is already hooked up to the brake? What do you do with that? in other words there will now be no wire at all hooked to the e-brake? Thanks.
Steven McMullin for the e-Break yes you can cut it and connect and then cap off the car side. We just disconnect and pull the old wire out after it is cut.
Thank you. My only concern now is I don't know if there is some sort of PAC or something else in there to enable my steering wheel controls... in other words I don't want to have to re program something, so I am more than hesitant to tear into it... any suggestions?
I also have a RPG-GM11 installed, the light green wire from stereo is spliced into a light blueish wire that goes into the PAC I think, and the car toys guys wrapped it and another wire or 2 marked NAV? I am also curious on how to reprogram the RPG-GM11 if needed, I did not get any documentation regarding it, so I dont have a clue on how to do that if needed? plus it is burried back under the dash pretty far. Not sure why the light green wire from stereo would be going into a wire marked NAV? that then goes into the PAC? On the back side (car side) of the PAC do I assume that the light green wire is the parking brake? and then cut and cap it?
Steven McMullin it sound like the have the break wire connected to the PAC break wire out put. If so to unlock the radio- start with e break off- turn on key- e break on off on. This will unlock the radio. If you would like to reprogram the PAC, they have all their manuals on the web site www. Pac-audio.com .
This method means it does not use any speed inputs if it is monitoring the position of the parking brake. Can you explain what these switching sequences mean to the receiver ?
Falcon Flooring I actually purchased the radio used and had no idea there was any wire that needed to be grounded or bypassed. i dont know what else to do. Theres no long green wire so im stuck without bluetooth
How could you add a switch to the micro bypass so that you could disable it should the need arise? If the switch was on it will bypassed else if the switch was off the normal factory intended behavior. If it matters I have an E46 and a Kenwood DDX9704S
