I swapped 2 of them different cars the cheapy ones WORKED GREAT. also I swapped mine without removing most of the shit in the way. Easy to get the screw out but I put it back with a zip tie. Lol. Works great. Cheap ones are fine.
Just want to thank you I just changed mine today. Paid $20 for the part and worked perfectly I had a mini ratchet that took screw driver tips. I also used a small philips screwdriver. It was 3-4 inches long and had a thick handle. Thanks a million. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, this is the second time mine has gone out and this refreshed my memory. BTW: This demonstrates something I always say about having an aftermarket Cold Air Intake and filter. Never mind any performance or sound changes. It frees up a ton of room at the front of the engine.
Thank you!!! I too had mine go out for a second time and this video is going to save me hundreds in labor because I was not about to go through the non-sense of replacing the full fan shroud again myself.
I have a 2007 Saturn Sky Redline that has this problem. Thank you. This is by far the best service video that l have ever seen on these vehicles. You are awesome Bruh!
I ran one of the PN# interchange numbers ( RY 1532, standard motor products ). Listed on one of the Crowne Vic listings, through the Gates website. According to it, the Crowne Vic part is interchangeable. Thank you, this will save us all tons of money.
I’ve had this on my car for 2 months now and it fixed my non working fan. Whoo hoo! Engine Cooling Fan Control Relay Module fits Ford Crown Lincoln Mercury 902209 rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F132599530345
Just want to say this worked for me with a caveat. I know what a pain in the ass it is to fix anything in this little car but I changed the module twice and it did not work, until I looked at the fuse box and the 60A one was blown. I replaced it and gone are the codes and no longer overheats.
This worked fine with the Ford controller initially, on restart however, I am getting a P0480 code. Was this the case with your experience or do I need to look for an additional issue. The fan is working, it turns on and off when it is supposed to for engine temp and turns on when the AC is engaged, so it seems to be working, I just don't want to drive around with the MIL on. I have attempted to clear the code, and it will clear and stay off during that ignition cycle but will light up on the next ignition cycle. Thanks for any info.
Ack, I'm sorry to hear that! There should be no engine error codes after the replacement. You may need to check for an additional issue. Check that all the connectors are secure and wiring is in good shape. Hopefully you didn't get a bad controller. Someone should make a more robust aftermarket fan controller. These seem to have a lot of problems.
@@capnfixit1222 Autozone now carries an aftermarket Fan Control Motor, it is from Santech, "Santech Engine Cooling Fan Module MT4100" available for $110. GM also carries a similar Fan Control Module now for the HHR under part #25845280 available on Amazon for $125. I still have the issue with the MIL and I ordered another Ford Module off EBay and hopefully it will work, if not, I will try the Santech module and let you know.
Ok hope you get this or someone else might know- mine is the exact opposite! I was driving mine yesterday and after I shut it off I noticed the fan continued to run, I checked the coolant temp in instrument cluster, it was right where it is expected. Hummmm… so, wasn’t sure what to do, so I pulled the big fuse up under the hood by the battery. Fan shut off, keep in mind this is with engine off and keys in my hand… I went back into work and came out 3hrs later in the Ohio weather of 40 degrees, motor was COLD as would be expected, before I did anything, I put the fuse back in and fan motor started back up immediately! Grrrrr, so I drove it watching coolant temp, was fine and in range, but got home and fan continued to run. So I pulled the fuse for the overnight, maybe this control module failed in the opposite way as yours?? Any input?? I’ll be finding this item on eBay in a moment,
Oh man. I'm sorry to hear! Thinking about it, replacing this module seems like a reasonable thing to try. Have you tried Googling your symptoms to see if anyone has pointed towards this module? Also, the Solstice Forum has a lot of knowledgeable people in it. www.solsticeforum.com/. Let us know what you find out!
Thanks! I went on Ebay and bought one for 16 dollars, and the can be used on a crown vic? That's weird. But when it comes and o swap it out I'll message ya, and if it fixes it I will make a RUclips on it giving you all the credit but mine will be geared to change it if your fan WONT shut off
Thanks for this video! My cooling fan went out and I noticed that same increase in temp when at a standstill. Checked the fuse and it is good, so I'd assume it is the module. I have a volt checker and will test it this weekend to be sure. I found on eBay the Gates module for Solstice selling for $90 and the Crown Vic for $19. They have a different part number, so I was wondering if it really makes a difference to have the exact part. Does the module you bought for $18 work perfectly? Thanks in advance!

I replaced the one on my wife's GXP today with the Ford Crown Vick one on ebay. It works perfectly. After putting everything together I realized I made a mistake. I should have replaced the damned Philips screw with a hex head, torx head ,allen head socket or something other then the phillips..
Great call out - I'm just about to do mine and that's a simple step that will save me frustration on the reinstall and a ton of time when I have to do this a 3rd time 7 years later!

Hi, I hope you’re still active on here but I’m having the same issue on my 2006 solstice and it’s not a gxp so I don’t know how similar it is. My friend suggested I turn the car and AC on and jab the motor to see if it spins the fan and it does.. however it stops spinning after a few seconds. Do you think I need the fan itself or I should just try this module
Sorry for the late reply! Did you figure out a solution on the 2006 Solstice? I'd have to research and see if it has the same fan/module combination as the GXP.
Big O so originally I thought it was one of the fuses in the fuse box but it wasn’t. It was the actual motor in the fan. Turn the car on and have the AC on, look under the hood if the fan is spinning and if not.. grab a long broom/stick and kinda jab the motor to see if it’s spins. If the motor spins when you jab it then it’s the whole engine cooling fan assembly is what needs to be replaced. I got a new one from eBay for $74 and it was super easy to install, now my AC works very well.
