It's because people are stupid, and also they get lost in the heat of the moment and don't have enough time to process the consequences of their actions until it's too late.
Probably a real dumb idea to yank a phone out and start waving it around when you're at gunpoint. Good way for a mistake to happen. And yeah, the cop might be wrong shooting you for waving a cell phone in that situation, but concepts like right and wrong only matter to the living...

Original comment: y'all obviously didn't watch the same video I did, looks like the passenger got let go while the driver was arrested. The passenger got better treatment when they figured out he wasn't involved. Oh yeah and if someone has a gun on them it's not particularly common for people to be calm, especially not police, as it happens there are criminals with guns that'll shoot police and other people. pretty crazy to think about, huh?
Guy with the concealed weapon did absolutely everything right at every moment. He was calm, but informed them right away that he was carrying a loaded firearm and he had a valid concealed carry permit. I feel bad for the guy, but you also have to choose friends who aren't idiots. Regardless, I'm glad no one was seriously hurt.
Yeah, this could have gone south really fast if the officers were less patient. Officers did what they should have done. Perhaps a bit aggressively, but one doesn't imagine these situations arise very often in Wisconsin so they can't have all that experience..
@@paulog8813 "And yet", the time to be polite would have been at the normal traffic stop originally intended--not the nearly 12-mile chase endangering lives on a high-speed pursuit and evading police. If the worst these morons get off with is a stern talking to about how stupid their actions were, they're lucky as hell. Of course the officers was forceful and pissed off, consider the circumstances that just occurred... that you just watched happen... don't be a clown. The passenger got off lucky and then got an attitude towards the end about where he was being dropped off and wanting to argue about "not smoking anything" when the officer indicated he could smell it on his breath. The bozo didn't take into account how lucky he was to walk out of the situation not in cuffs, but he's gonna bitch and moan about how far the officers will take him towards home?? He almost talked himself back into cuffs. The moral of the story is, if you run from police--it's an immediate red flag that you are either doing something wrong or have something to hide--normal people do not run. Look at it from a legal standpoint, if you're charging someone either way for everything, why should they confess? If they're maladapted enough to endanger lives, why shouldn't they waste the court's time, and taxpayer money, making it as long and drawn out as possible? To get it over quicker? The passenger got better treatment when they figured out he wasn't involved. Oh yeah and if someone has a gun on them it's not particularly common for people to be calm, especially not police, as it happens there are criminals with guns that'll shoot police and other people. pretty crazy to think about, huh?

Guy with the concealed weapon did absolutely everything right at every moment. He was calm, but informed them right away that he was carrying a loaded firearm and he had a valid concealed carry permit. He complied 100% without an attitude and waited patiently for the cops to catch up to the fact he had nothing to do with the chase.

And yet, the superior office was quite disrespectful to him.
What it means is that if he was already revoked for 6 months, it makes it 12 months. If he was suspended for 6 months, now he's revoked, and I'm assuming it would be for 12 months. And if he simply didn't have a license when he did have the privilege to get one, now he can't for 6 months. Plus a whole bunch of fines.

It's crazy how the cops treated the driver better than the passenger. They seemed legitimately irritated by the guy who just happened to be in the car when the driver decided to run, while they seemed to bend over backwards to be nice to the driver once they got him out of the car.
The way the officers yelled...not really professional imho. To deescalate, you don't push aggression into a situation.

It never ceases to amaze me how (and why) prosecutors decide to drop every charge except one. I sometimes wonder why the police even bother.
Often bad police reporting and/or gathering of evidence. Plus he pleaded guilty so that has its perks with the prosecutor.
@@jcosk8🙄
Look at it from a legal standpoint, if you're charging someone either way for everything, why should they confess? If they're maladapted enough to endanger lives, why shouldn't they waste the court's time, and taxpayer money, making it as long and drawn out as possible? To get it over quicker? What's a few months against a decade or two? That said, they definitely shouldn't drop as much as they often do, but there's sound logic to using the carrot as well as the stick.

Since they claimed that they could see he was 'totally doing nothing at all' while there was a giant lorry parked in between the cafe where they were and the place where their friend the offender was trying to assault someone over some roadrage BS.
Video evidence? Tossed out, since it only shows the offender attacking, not punching.
What got him nailed was photos of nailmarks in my forearm and a tear in the shirt of the victim driver, which I had insisted the police officer who responded, took photographs of. Those proved a struggle took place.

Not suppose to be smoking weed if you have a concealed carry. Cop said he smelled it on his breath.

@@luvyesmusici4886No, see, of course. The cop said he smelled it on his breath. But I don't believe for a second that he smelled it on the guy's breath. I believe he smelled it in the vehicle. It's so obvious that these officers are so butthurt when things don't go what the way they want. And because the guy was trying to explain that he smokes CBD. The cop didn't want to hear It. Because these officers think they know every Little detail about your whole life from looking inside a vehicle at you... That cop is a loser.
@@luvyesmusici4886 They have to prove he was under intoxication from that substance which they cannot prove cause weed tests don't prove that, they show if you smoked in the past 30 to 60 days or however long your hair has been growing for if taking a hair sample. There is no current test to prove intoxication with weed, just like DUI's with alcohol they can't convict you based on just the field sobriety test they need the reading in your blood or breath unless that person has a bad lawyer, but any judge would most likely throw out a DUI if it had no breathalyzer reading or blood reading. @@OzarkSophistry That would work...if you know, you don't mind being in an out of control speeding car that you can't get control of nearly as quickly as you'd need to. Second...the dude is in control of the car. He could drive crazier just to knock you around. It isn't as easy as threatening the guy. It could still backfire in a million ways. Then you'd have to shoot him and that brings you back to the first problem.
Even worse, ALL BETS ARE OFF THE TABLE if police see a someone pull a gun in the car! They don't know what that is being used for. They're going to assume it is a threat against them/public safety.
So...
1) Shoot the guy and put your life in extreme risk.
2) Threaten the guy and hope he stops instead of decides to try and stop you. Which again, leads to shooting him and going to one.
3) Risk police thinking you're going to try and harm them or other drivers.
