    As Scheduled service (Part 121 operators), Airlines have a commitment their published schedule. These schedules are usually 4 months long. I would expect to see a dramatic drop in the coming month when the new schedules are published.

      Thx for the answer. I've heard similar things about contractual obligations.

      I work for one of these major airlines and because we "took the money" we have to maintain flying to all the cities we were flying to as of March 1. Now the govt ranked each of those cities 1-2-3 and effectively we have to only maintain a certain number of flight daily or weekly to these destinations. There is a great video of how that works found here: ruclips.net/video/K8OPEUowLf8/видео.html

    FlighAware has 20 flights arriving at LAX in the next hour and 20 flights leaving in the next 5 hours or so. I'm not sure how that compares to usual flight loads - but I'm sure it's less than usual. I live in SF, CA and am accustomed to many flights from SFO passing over my house during the day and night, mostly flights heading south or west. There's been a amazing reduction in flights overhead.

    That 1500 aircraft cap is going to be for performance reasons. If it was uncapped it would bog down too much. I’m a perfect world there would be a slider that you could set.

    • @Wolficorntv
      @Wolficorntv  4 года назад +1

      Makes sense. Slider would be nice indeed. I wish FR would at least display the total number flying, similar to what they do for the global number. Thanks for your comment.

      Showing the actual count wouldn't hurt performance. The website still doesn't need to display all the planes on the map.

      Jay Philip Williams yeah, I’m guessing it’s just reflecting the data cap directly. Would be nice to have a separate indicator for that stat.

    I looked on Flight aware last night and thought it was wrong so then verified with flight radar. And when you zoom in there were many freight flights from UPS and Fedex.

    I'm willing to bet there is a significant drop in passangers on those planes now as well....

      @Wolficorntv  4 года назад +1

      Absolutely! I've heard most planes are around 15% full these days. I'm not gonna be one of 'em!!!

      From an SWA pilot last week...did a 4-day trip and only had 200 total passengers over all four days (16 flights). Talked to another Delta feeder CRJ-900 pilot...only four passengers on his flight out of Norfolk last week.

    I can’t understand why there are any passenger planes flying at the moment. Cargo yes but people no. What essential travel are flyers doing. Most of the world is on lockdown or versions thereof yet still so many planes. Just doesn’t make sense.

    • @Wolficorntv
      @Wolficorntv  4 года назад

      I heard somewhere that it had something to do with contractual agreements. That said, it does seem crazy. Also, I hear grounding planes is an expensive proposition as well. I wish somebody would chime in here with a better explanation.
