@@wyquitajarrell6611 they did both. They started the hair a few inches down from the root, and as they braided down they would add in a few more strands if needed. Then they interlocked the roots
You did an amazing job! Your locs are truly beautiful! Also, you explained all the in and outs of adding the extensions so well that I now feel I could possibly have a go at it myself. I'm kinda impatient for my locs to grow long, so I may try this method to get the length that I want sooner. Thanks so much for this video!
Hope this video is helpful to you all. 😃 I want this share one additional tip: be mindful of what shampoo you use, as some can cause locs to slip out more than other shampoos. I used Suave’s Ocean Breeze for 2 washes and one slipped out the second wash. So I’ll be going back to a Taliah Waajid’s shampoo just to be safe. Thanks for watching! 5/3/22 update: I can’t remember if I talked about this in the video regarding the hair color specifically, but I do wish that I had used #2 for my whole head instead of the natural black.
It looks amazing! Hey I’m new here ! 🖐🏽 I did micro locs and I have to say if you hair is short and you do it with that method it weighs the hair down a lot more than braids…. I filled in a few that broke off, with braids so I will be following the channel to know how the braids develop over time. Thank you 🙏🏽
Hi! I’ve heard that, too. From my research, I saw that this shouldn’t be too much of an issue because of how lightweight the hair is (compared to kanekalon hair, etc). I’ll definitely keep you guys updated on that side of things. I hope your braids turn out lovely! 😊
Hi, guys! Just a quick update, I’ve taken the extensions out. However, my grid is pretty much still intact so I’m putting the hair right back in, lol (same install method). Debating on whether or not to fix the areas of my grid that I didn’t like, and the takedown was brutal! My goal was to make them slightly bigger. So be warned if you decide to take this down for whatever reason. 8/11/23 update: For a few of my repairs where my hair is higher density, I have used the feed in method instead of the crochet method. I was able to use less hair, but I don’t know how this would hold up over time. Do what works for you!
@@shukuramartin5495 Hi! Unfortunately, I can’t. I only do my own hair so there’s no install to record. If you reference the two videos I linked, they should be a big help with your install.
I’m almost half way through the video… your hair looks absolutely amazing (but I think you always do a great job on your hair) also I LOVE that you are able to express your thoughts so well! I get so stuck on what I want to say and think of more I wanted to say after the fact and I hate it lol.
Thank you! I was really proud of this video b/c I didn’t have to edit as much to make sure my thoughts came across well. Plus my video outline helped a lot lol. I definitely know what you mean, though 🙈
Hey! This is such a Great video. You seem like a cool person to know. Also your video provides Great details too. I do Appreciate your time and love your process. I’m inspired to braid & reloc loc my hair again too. Much love 💕
Wow I just realized we worked together and you were my trainer at “moon”. I want microlocs so bad and yours are beautiful. Definitely a new supporter ❤
Hey, girl! I remember you lol, so crazy that you’re watching this. And thanks for the compliment. Definitely get microlocs if it’s something you been wanting, though. If you’re not ready to do the interlock thing, you could do mini twists to mimic the look and maintenance.
Hey so I'm in the process of doing micro loc braids... It's a process lol day 3 and I still only have like 15. Life is in the way so I try to do it when I'm bored and doing nothing hopefully I'm done this month.. I might make a video and thanks to you and your information I feel great in the process and I'm happy I'm not alone because i also have a twa and this video and your journey makes me feel great...i do want to finish though hahaha it's a longggg process
Love this comment from you! ❤️ It definitely is a process and I was shocked by how long it took me, too. It really helps if you have a supportive family during the process lol. You got this, though! I hope you make a video and share your journey with the community. I would love to watch!
Your locs look absolutely stunning!! I just…I have ADHD and this is a long video haha so forgive me if I missed this explanation but I was wondering how do you touch up braidlocs with extensions once they’ve already been installed? Do you use a crochet needle? Is there a tutorial somewhere?? Lol having a hard time finding it
Thank you so much! And no worries, I’m happy to answer any questions. I should probably go back and do timestamps if I have time lol. You retouch the new growth with any type of latching tool. If your locs are smaller, you want a smaller latch hook. You can also just use a basic yarn needle or get something more expensive like the nappy loc tool. There are a bunch of tutorials on how to do the different interlocking rotations, but I don’t have one to recommend off the top of my head. Hope this helps!
Beautiful! You’re such an inspiration. I’ll be following your journey. How does the extension hair feel? Is it rough in comparison to your natural hair?
Thank you! The hair feels soft but wiry at the same time. I want to say the hair feels coarse, but I’m not sure if that’s accurate. It doesn’t feel the same as my natural hair, though, and it has softened up a little bit over time.
@@heyybritny yes this makes sense! The actual fibers tend to be coarse (depending on the hair source), tho the hair texture might be a lot less kinkier than say a 4c texture. Thanks for your response.
Great job on your hair. I wished you would have video you adding the hair to your micro locs. I was thinking I could get the micro braids, with extensions and letting it grow into micro Loc’s . What do you think about this ? I’m too lazy to do my hair, but if I can get it braided, and let them stay, I hope it won’t break my hair off..
Thank you! I didn’t record any videos of me attaching the hair, but you can watch the tutorials I linked for guidance. Also, you can go that route you mentioned and see how it turns out. I would definitely use human hair though. There’s a video on RUclips of a woman who started with microbraids with extensions, but the extension hair is synthetic so there’s a noticeable difference. ruclips.net/video/IhzkLM_vC0A/видео.html
Wow this was a crazy helpful video. Thank you for taking the time to make it! When you spoke about which method you used, feed in or crochet, did you say the feed in method tends to slip out? I can't find it now
Hi! Thanks so much for watching, I’m glad it was helpful. :) Either method can slip out if you don’t braid tightly or braid down fair enough past your own hair. I hope this helps!
It took me thee weeks to do my hair worn extension too! That was 7 years ago, but I used yarn. I didn’t If I were to to do it again I would have bought long wefts. If I used human hair, or just kanekalon on the ends like I did with the yarn. So the kinky hair would be long and not bin little pieces like bulk hair is.
Crazy! I’m not surprised to hear that. I’ve heard of yarn braids, but never tried it before. If the bulk hair was one long strand like kanekalon, that would be 🙌🏾 lol
Hi! I can’t recall, but I would say between 10-20. Start with the lowest number you are comfortable ordering and go from there. With aliexpress, it took about a week and half at most for the hair to arrive. Hope this helps!
Was the hair you bought true to its length? I feel like whenever i buy bulk hair, it’s never the exact length that it says it is, and i end up braiding hair into the loc, but then having to add more when i get to the end. Did you have that problem with this hair
Hi. Stretched, it probably could’ve been the length stated. However, I already knew that I would be folding the hair in half so I made sure to learn how to feed in hair regardless. Hope this helps!
Hi! I saw your comment about this on the other video but can still answer lol. I did have some braids fall out, but not enough to justify taking down the whole thing. I was going through a lot at the time and used my hair as a distraction. Hope this helps!
I totally hear you lol. You can always do the burn test to see if it’s human hair. Also, I did consider using straight human hair since that seemed easier to work with, it just wouldn’t matt/lock the same, I think. Hope this helps!
