Hi there, I know that you go with official namings and locations. When driving from Thabazimbi (I grew up in the area) towards Marakele (Alma road) there is a 4way stop where the tarred road ends and if you continue onto the gravel road streight ahead you will encounter an actual pass there which includes tight corners fairly steep climbs which I thought to be the actual Rankin's pass. This is about 10km from where the gravel road starts and the Rankin's pass outpost is farther on this route. Check it out and mayby do a review. Thanks. Francois.

Francois D Van der Westhuizen Rankins Pass is not actually a pass, but a police point. This is similar to Greys Pass in Cape Town - merely a passing point where authorities checked travelers documents. You are thinking of Bakkers Pass which you can view on our website.
