I was just a Yazoo and the cemetery today, the cemetery was quite peaceful and nice to walk around. The git the witches stone back to standing up instead of lying on the ground. Rest of town we saw left a lot to be desired. I like this twist on the story, well done.

I tried. The fake "southern" made it where I couldn't listen. LOL!

I remember hearing this story on a TV show called Most Terrifying Places in America but they didn't mention how "The Witch of Yazoo City " gutted dead cats and dried their bodies with salt.

Well, I'd say so, darlin'. The darker parts of haint tales tend to not make it into mainstream media; and all the better for it, I say! And, then again, there's always the fact that stories end up evolvin' over time, and get muddled up a bit with every tellin'. What one tale says the other leaves out entirely. Still though, I hope you liked this version. One of my listeners who hails from Yazoo City submitted this story last season, and I couldn't help but tell it.

Well I liked the story very much, also, I read somewhere that the witch's name was in fact Tandy Warren.

I've read that some place, too. That would explain the "TW" inscription on the original tombstone.

Also, I read in another website that said on how it was discovered that the words TW on the Witch of Yazoo City's grave. It said that by 1904 Joe Bob Duggen had a family of his own and that his son had been approached by this old lady on the streets of the city and that the two of them danced together and she carried him away from the fire when it started. When the boy told his father Joe Bob what had he was shocked, and then the son told how the old lady the boy that she knew his dad before he was born and she gave a note and instructed that he give it to his dad. When Joe Bob read that letter he turned pale at what the note said, it read "I told you so- Tandy Warren".

The terrible play on a southern accent made me leave the video early. Turned a possibly good story into a joke.
