At 81 yo I've listened to a song or two. Haley surpasses the best of the best female vocalists of all time in every way. Her performances are flawless in every detail. Beautiful, perfect, enchanting, mesmerizing...............WOW!
There are performers you want to hear again. There are performers you want to hear more. There are performers you want to hear everything they do. And then there are the very few so good that you want to tell others about them. In my life there have been two: The Beatles, and now Haley Reinhart. Whatever you're doing is working, just keep going.
It's puzzling - practically none of the comments refer to how extraordinary what we see here is. No only is it a scene from a documentary feature film (not a "video"), but it must be incredibly rare for a song to be recorded live direct to vinyl. Compliments to Hayley and everyone involved in pulling off this remarkable accomplishment so well!

According to what I've read on the subject, recording on tape was generally the norm by around the late 1940s.

Yes, it didn't completely die out and some musicians were occasionally up to the challenge, but few people alive today younger than about 80 will have personally seen recording on disc done, even if they worked as a recording engineer.
You are probably right but once it was the norm there is a brilliant rabbit hole of direction to vinyl music stating with American Epic ? Jack White leads us to the history of these portable machines with some fantastic Artists recording and performing incredible classics ol time style
They could record this with confidence because she has proven herself repeatedly with her Postmodern Jukebox performances which were also one take and extraordinary.
That moment at 2:15 when she wipes a tear from her eye, I'm thinking how moved she must've felt to have the awesome musicians backing her. Beautiful and absolutely breathtaking!
Haley, you know what I love about you - you do not need anything beyond yourself to absolutely slay a song. Yes, the arrangement and accompaniment was top drawer, but that was not the performance that made this listener become spellbound to what was painted on the canvas as you delivered the art. Please continue to be you - one of the greats.

There are hundreds of thousands of talented artists and musicians. It's just not feasible for all of them to reach superstar status. That being said, at least she's still able to earn a living doing what she loves.

However, maybe it's just me, but this version has a huge, intensely emotional impact on me, more so than her first released video recording of it, and more so than almost any song that I've ever heard. She had me almost greeting. I felt that she was really deep into the song, and it was an unusually intense emotional experience for herself as well those listening to her.

Eddie Lyons I've always thought she was a very emotive singer but this for me is the most powerfully emotional performance of hers yet. She was deep,deep into this, and she hit me hard. I don't know how to describe a singer who can do that to me. All I know is that it's pretty wonderful.

I am quite simply in awe over the richness of your voice: Soft, sweet, rich and warm and directly shifting into rough - even coarse but returning just as quickly and elegantly back into soft and full-bodied. You have a unique voice of your own, immediately recogniseable and distinct. I watched An Impossible Project and besides the great story and thoughts behind it, it was above all the music which crowned the picture. You have contributed in making it a work of art celebrating art and craftmanship. You just have to sing to me ;-)

This is so good, I wish it the 3 other songs Haley recorded for this documentary were readily available. All 4 songs only released on vinyl as far as I know and currently unavailable. From listening to them in the documentary they are wonderful. A very special artist in every way.

Haley's problem is that for some reason she won't sign with a record label. However, without the exposure that only a record label can provide, most people will never hear of her, much less hear her music. Sooner or later, she will have to sign with a major record label, or otherwise, she will remain in relative obscurity forever. By not signing with a major record label, she is not only selling herself short but she is also selling her fans short at the same time. Anyway, she has a new album that is about to get released. Let's see if it will be released on a record label or if it will be released independently again. Not to mention that it is not like Haley is not good enough to be signed by a major record label, as she has already turned down numerous offers. Moreover, she has a humongous RUclips following, large twitter and Instagram followings, and over 2.5 million monthly followers on Spotify. Which is more than a lot of signed artists have.
The original video was superb but this rendition has raised the emotional bar even higher. There are some fine singers out there but none who can project as much emotion as this. The orchestra and arrangement were superb, but ultimately it's that voice of Haley's that made this so very powerful emotionally.
This has quickly become one of my all time favourite songs... I absolutely love it and love your vocals Haley, on everything you do, you're pure magic ♥

Haley i want you to know that ur voice takes me to another place where i feel no pain or sorrow and full of bliss....which is rare for ppl who are dying ive been living with the secret that im dying hiding it from my friends and family so as to protect them cause ive seen what terminal illnesses do to families...but for the 4 mins of each song i get to hear ur amazing voice i can forget all of that and feel like im living again.....i know 4 mins doesnt seem like much..... but for someone whos running on barrowed time its a lifetime... thank you for letting me live again!

This is so good, I wish it the 3 other songs Haley recorded for this documentary were readily available. All 4 songs only released on vinyl as far as I know and currently unavailable. From listening to them in the documentary they are wonderful. A very special artist in every way.

I have loved Haley's voice since Idol. Why she isn't mainstream is beyond me. Beautiful song, beautiful voice, beautiful Haley.
Haley's problem is that for some reason she won't sign with a record label. However, without the exposure that only a record label can provide, most people will never hear of her, much less hear her music.
Sooner or later, she will have to sign with a major record label, or otherwise, she will remain in relative obscurity forever. By not signing with a major record label, she is not only selling herself short but she is also selling her fans short at the same time.
Anyway, she has a new album that is about to get released. Let's see if it will be released on a record label or if it will be released independently again.
Not to mention that it is not like Haley is not good enough to be signed by a major record label, as she has already turned down numerous offers.
Moreover, she has a humongous RUclips following, large twitter and Instagram followings, and over 2.5 million monthly followers on Spotify. Which is more than a lot of signed artists have.

The original video was superb but this rendition has raised the emotional bar even higher. There are some fine singers out there but none who can project as much emotion as this. The orchestra and arrangement were superb, but ultimately it's that voice of Haley's that made this so very powerful emotionally.
