Hi James. I just want to say how much I have enjoyed your videos etc. well done. Your camera work is among the best I have seen and your commentary nice and light. I am not able to get out much myself but your videos helm to remember the days I loved teaming the hills. I have watched all your videos, sometimes more than once. Please continue your great work and take encouragement from the many people who support your passion. Here’s to the next video. Best wishes Phillip E.
Thank you for your kind comments Phillip 😁 Cheers, James
The Gorns are incredible, my favourite place to go hillwalking in the entire country.
I loved the views from Beinn a Chaorainn. I was there in April but it was a bit cloudy. The day before I walked from Glenmore Lodge over Bynack More and down to my camp at the Fords of Avon. Having climbed Beinn a Chaorainn I walked to Loch Etchachan and then up Beinn Mheadhoin. I had my best camp ever at Loch Etchachan. Thanks for sharing
Fantastically remote. Perfect. 👍
You’re such a natural at both hill walking and cinematography James. Your videos are a treat, always look forward to seeing the next instalment 👍🏻
Thank you 😁
Great to see ur rain jacket on mate 😂
Aye I’ve walked that path from Lynn of dee to derry lodge many a time! You should pop in past Bob Scotts bothy next time your there 👍🏻
First time for everything pal 😂 will have a look at that next time I’m there, got a heap of munros to do from Linn of Dee 😁
FANTASTIC to see the cairngorms a place I've never hiked in,,, I'm watching it as I get ready for a two day wild camping hike tomorrow amongst the bog where there is no tracks, no people no dry patches to stand on anywhere haha. Inspirational stuff James. M
Another fine video diary James, well done.
Anyone hillwalking in Scotland, especially in the Cairngorms, should read The Black Cloud by I.D.S. Thomson.
The account of the Baird & Barrie incident is especially poignant.
Thanks Jim, will need to give that a read.. Cheers, James
Definitely hills that I prefer to run over as you get on so much more quickly. Beinn Bhreac is about as insignificant as a Munro can get, but B a C is a great wee hill and your film and commentry showed just why. You may have had showers, but the light was excellent. I find the track to Derry Lodge the least interesting approach to any Scottish mountain as the view scarcely changes so a bike is the perfect way in, and the speedy ride out makes you realise how much height difference there is in the glen.
Yea I certainly noticed the height difference on the way out from Derry Lodge.. great day out 😁 something special about the Cairngorms, Thanks for watching Eddie, Cheers, James
This is timely, as I'm just reading Nan Shepherd's The Living Mountain. Beautiful views.
Glencoe and Cairngorms are my favourites in Scotland. Ice climbing the corrie up to Ben Macdui (forgive spelling) age 17 and other walks since. All happy times.
Nice walk good video
Thanks James, as usual stunningly beautiful country. Although quite featureless there are some long slogs there. Having never walked in Scotland I can only compare that to the long broad ridges of the Carneddau in North Wales or maybe Black Mountains further south.
Done these twice with the paths flowing like rivers and landslides on the path , makes for great memories , great vid as usual👍
Its a great place, thanks for watching 😁
I was going to go there yesterday but the forecast was off-putting, and then I tested positive for Covid on Friday night, so bang went that plan. Looks like the weather was better than expected. Great place, as you say, and an excellent video as usual. All the best Murdo
Well done, James. You capture that vast openness very well - and that shot under the clouds at 8:46 particularly so. I don't feel glad that you got a bit wet - on the contrary, I'm glad that the clouds were high enough to give you some views from the summits!
Thanks Paul, it was a great day 😁
It had to happen sometime James, you've had a brilliant spell of great weather. A wee drop rain never harmed anyone lol
Haha I actually enjoyed it for a wee change 😆
Great video James in amongst superb hills. You won't be used to that wet stuff falling on you😂. Glad it cleared up on the way back.
Great video as usual, thanks for sharing. I did these two first time around on a damp autumn day without a view, I think they would make a fantastic winter day out next time (with a start and finish in darkness though)
Yes these would be great on a bluebird winter day 😁 Cheers, James
Must be something about those Munro's, when I did them 2 years back we got soaked 😂 was a great day none the less.
Haha character building as they call it 😂 Cheers, James
Great day out James.
Thank you 😁
As always great video.
Thank you 😁
Great work again James. Love your videos. What rucksack camera clip do you use for rucksack. I will be doing the Cumbria way (mountain route) and want to get some decent pictures.
Thank you, I use the Ulanzi Claw, think it was from Amazon/Ebay.. I have had it a good few years and its still going strong 😁 Cheers, James
Nice one 😎. Done these at the end of June after the really dry spell. The crossing between the 2 munros, could be a bit hellish with the peat hags after a bit of rain.
Well done, you timed it well then.. can imagine that will get very boggy after a wet spell, Cheers, James
Do you lock your bike to a tree or fence or anything you can find? Is it generally acceptable to leave a bike as long as it's out of people's way, and is it generally safe?
Love your videos, thanks! 😁🏔
Thank you, in these remote areas its usually OK just to leave the bike 😁 I will occasionally put a bikechain through both wheels incase anyone is tempted to take it for a spin while im away 😂 Cheers, James
Good video. I’ve been there in 2016. We hiked out into the wilderness and stayed at Bob Scott’s bothy and had a walk over to the Hutchinson bothy. There’s 2 short vids on my profile of it. I wasn’t vlogging back then. So they were just short vids I posted on my fb but then at the time added them to RUclips.
Did you go near the hutchy bothy? When I went it was almost waist deep in snow in parts.
Thank you 😁 I never noticed any Bothy to be honest! A good reason for me to go back and explore.. Cheers, James
@@ScottishMunroJourney hopefully be up in Scotland soon and bag a Munro or 2 mate. If you’re about I don’t mind meeting for a walk 👍🏼
Been dying to ask you for a while what you have in your ears. Is it ear plugs for the cold/wind? Or is it ear pods for some tunes?
Hi Richard, you are right - its Airpods for listening to music/podcasts 😁 on long uphill stretches I will listen to podcasts to take my mind off the pain 😂 Cheers, James
