These videos have been helpful as I go through some health issues. They've inspired me to conquer my longstanding fear of flying and walk some of these same paths in the future if I'm lucky enough to get healthy again. Thanks for the inspiration and the calming content. The whole family loves you and this channel.
I watched this video a couple of months back. Yesterday I got to see the sheer beauty with my own eyes. Admittedly I went off piste a couple of times between Harrison, pike o stickle and loft crag because of the snow up there. It was hellish cold -1 with a horrible windchill top of pavey ark. Easily my favourite hike to date in the Lakes. Can’t even begin to imagine how much better it would be during the summer months.
Hi Glenn ,i love the langdales and you do it great justice in your superb videoing and your detailed knowledge of the area . Thanks again for sharing your great walks.
We love the langdales. Our favourite place. We park up at the holiday accommodation and don’t need to use the car again. Local pub, local shop, local farm selling home made marmalade and outstanding walking all around us. It really is heaven on earth.
Fantastic! Love the Langdales and you’ve done them justice. Not sure how I’d feel about so many wild campers with tents still up at 8.30-9am but I suppose it was a bank holiday. Keep em coming Glenn 👍👍👍
We did this route this weekend, it didn't disappoint. Got a bit lost coming down the through the forest but got to watch the climbers on Raven Crag up close.
I walked the langdale pikes via silver how & blea rigg last week. It was the first time I'd been over there and I loved it! I had perfect weather too for pretty much the entire ~11 hours I was out.
Did this walk over the weekend, even though we had the route planned on the os map we had with us, it was great to be able to show the Mrs a video of what the route over to loft crag was like as she didn't fancy the route across thorn crag as it has the sheer drops into dungeon gyhll. So just wanted to say a big thanks for producing these videos, such a fantastic help getting a first person view of the lay of the land, you can't always tell what it's like from the map when planning it at home.
Lovely video you certainly make you luck what a great photo of Pike o stickly. The axe heads have been found in europe, which proved trade even in those days. As well as across to ireland. I do love it around there thanks for taking me back.
One of my favourite parts of the Lakes. So dramatic and you feel very cut off from civilization. The last time I was up there the weather closed in as I was on Harrison Stickle. Visibility was poor and things were sketchy but managed to make it to the dramatic Pike of Stickle. The weather didn't improve so had to make a fast descent back to Old Dungeon Ghyll. Absolutely exquisite area. It really is a special place. Heading back to the Lakes in s a couple of weeks. Cannot wait 😊 Keep up the good work. Your videos are such a source of joy.
If you're heading from Sergeant Man to the descent route between Harrison Stickle and Pavey Ark, you go via Thunacar Knott - which is why it's significant for the hiker.
Walked this route today Glenn and what a fantastic route it is.. The sun was warm and toasty but fantastic views. This is my favourite valley, can’t wait to get onto the next one. Thanks for the excellent content and for sharing your OS map routes 🥾⛰️👍🏻
Another fantastic film, thank you. I spent one of my most memorable nights next to Stickle Tarn in an orange bivvy bag in the early 1980's. Just the most glorious night of shooting star and the milky way. Just learning to love the Lakes again after life got in the way, for some reason, for thirty years.
I do so enjoy these hikes. Today was amazing! To be across the big pond and be able to do this! You are Blessed and I am Blessed to be watching and learning from you. Thank you! - Ontario Canada
We did that hike back in March, but we ascended via Stickle Ghill and finished off on Thorn crag before descending. We love the Langdale valley and hiked each and every summit up there. It’s our favourite valley too. 😊
Another great video with some epic views. I enjoyed it very much and really enjoyed coming along with you. I can only imagine how great it would be to make that journey it would truly be one of my greatest adventures. Dwayne
I counted 9 tents. I guess you'll get a Hawk's Head Pale Ale. 🤣 Thank You for this beautiful adventure, Glenn. A mild case of the wobblies kicked in when you were standing on top of Pavey Ark, and a couple other spots. LOL
I followed the falls up to Stickle Tarn and it was quite pretty. Pavey Ark is brilliant, especially Jack's Rake. Only thing that let's this place down is the amount crap people leave about. More so over the last few years as its got more popular. Loft Crag was a highlight for me, you can see where it was mined for Green Stone.
Hi Glenn, wonderful mate. I do like the Langdales, my favourite part of the Lake District. The view from Pike o Stickle is immense. Thank you so much for sharing your day as always. All the best Dave 😀🥾⛰🏴
Me and Mr Swales kinda did that route, we missed off the “massive drop leave your sunglasses bit. “The start of that route down is proper jaw dropping and I nearly didn’t do it! Cracking video as always Glen. Sithee!
Absolutely stunning. Love the views. I hope one day to visit, if not, at least I got to see them thru you! Amazing as always. Thanks for doing this for ppl across the ocean. Take care and I hope those sunglasses find their way back home. Much love 💕
Wonderful 👌 Did the Langdale Pikes for the first time myself this year. Amazing, especially Jack's Rake; glad you're planning a video for that 😁 The view of Gimmer Crag and the valley from Pike O'Stickle blew me away. Dropped down onto a ledge overlooking the valley out of the wind and I had the whole of the Lake District to myself for a glorious half an hour 🙏 Looking forward to Silver How - Loughrigg Fell next week...
Oooh my goodness legs went to jelly looking over that huge rock thank goodness it was not shiny great vlog what some fantastic views thank you for sharing you never disappoint 💙
Terrific video, as always and particularly timely as I was in the Langdale valley intending to 'do' the Pikes again this week and followed your route. I'd forgotten completely that cut across from Pike How (Brown Cow) to Stickle Tarn - I've used it before to get at the Blea Rigg ridge, heading for Grasmere once years ago. A cunning access and a really good descent too from the Pikes and a lot easier than some ways down. So thanks for the reminder! And I apologise for being that random woman accosting you in the shop at the Langdale campsite this morning while you were getting your breakfast! I was trying to be quiet as there were loads of people about but felt moved to say how much I enjoy the channel.
@@BlackCrag I didn't want to bother you. Besides that butty would have gotten cold and that would have been a crime! I really hope it all works out for you and you're able to switch to full time, as you deserve to, with all the effort you put in. You have such a good mix of different videos and so well paced - from the practical informative stuff like the route map (even people like me who know the Lakes well can be reminded of new routes they haven't tried), to the route finding along the way, to the scenery and superb filming, to Finn (of course!) nd the wafflage, which is just like going for a walk and a natter. A great mix.
Hi Glenn amazing views where ever you went, the aerial footage was spectacular ,I can only see these places through your eyes, so thanks for sharing stay safe
Hawks Head Pale Ale, that's what I would have gone for too! A nice early start, very sensible, I just hope you weren't blocked in at the car park as has almost happened to me a couple of times. Great video, al always Glenn. 👍👋
I done a very similar route round the langdales a month ago, up via Stickle gyll to Stickle tarn, up pavey ark, Thunacar Knott, Pike O’Stickle, Loft crag and Harrison Stickle. Probably my favourite circular route yet, and my dog loved it! I was also also up Blencathra on Bank holiday too, the lakes is just such an amazing place!
Another great video mate! Was looking forward to these Fells being vlogged, as I've done them a few times, and is one of my favourite areas of the lakes! Getting ever closer to series 4 and I can't wait! Keep up the great work! 🤙🏻
Loved the beautiful sceneries! Thank you for sharing. Appreciate your time and work invested so you may share with us all ❤ Looking forward to many more videos 😊
Another great one in the Hiking the Wainwrights series, thankyou so much 👏🏻. Would love to see one going to Dungeon Ghyll because I'll never go down there! The path below the edge where you were stood was bad enough for me 😂.
Another stunning film. Knowledgeable and friendly presentation - it is just like being out with a mate. I even discovered an added bonus. If you pop over to the transcript we can read about your love of seeing 'hoodies' out on the fells. 😂 Seriously though I hope after the Wainwrights you have lots more projects so we can continue to enjoy your brilliant work.
I’d love to try wild camping but I wouldn’t be able to trust the dogs they would be a nightmare 🤣🤣, and I had only just finished watching one of your vids from around 11 months ago and you went right home for a beer instead of going to the pub cause Finn was knackered , I just say your home looks gorgeous loved the deco and colours ( from what we got to see anyway 🤣)
Another great video. If you could do a video of Easy Gully that would be wonderful. I have been unable to find one to watch. My husband and I attempted Easy Gully a few years ago and could not get past the big boulder at the top. We had to turn back. We'd love to see how you get past the boulder x
Great video thanks, and a great area for walking. Never sure why but whichever way I am going I always do go to Thunacar Knott - one of life's mysteries, especially as there is never a dry way of getting to/from it via Pavey Ark! Also, do think the view from Loft Crag looking to Pike o' Stickle has to be one of the finest in Lakeland. Having said that all the other views are more than pretty good too.
Great vid mate. Not done the Raven crag route yet but your route up is a strong favourite. Love the path which skirts below Harrison stickle and the top of Dungeon Ghyll and that's actually my fave route up!
Beautiful vlog again. One of my favourite places to hike around in the Lake District, that photo of the Langdale’s during your video can you buy that from your website? It’s an incredible shot.
Hi Glen... love the videos ... Jan and I are patrons and take great delight in watching a vid and then doing it the next day! Langdales tomorrow! Quick question... I try to carry my dslr with a neck strap and it’s a pain...could you advise what you use to carry yours? I’d be grateful mate....Paul
Great video! I just wondered if the route you took up to Pavey Ark is easier than the Jack's Rake route? I did that once and it scared the cr*p out of me but would love to go back as its so beautiful from the top...
@@BlackCrag thank you for your reply, this is really great to know as I'd love to go back to this part of the lake district :) Jacks Rake was so scary it put me off hiking for a few years!
