I thought that mountain and little house at 4:30 looked familiar! That's pretty much the exact spot where the video for Nick Heyward's 'Whistle Down The Wind' was shot! You'll see exactly what I mean if you have a quick watch of it. I bet it'll remind you how good a song it is too! Awesome video, btw! 👍
@@STEPHENGLOVER-xz6qh To be fair, I doubt anyone would need much reminding of that. I live in North Wales but our mountains are hills compared to The Highlands.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't inderstand the concept of passing places, not just for oncoming traffic but also for letting vehicles pass you.
Passing places? Highland duel carriageways, had a visitor with me once on the way down to Torridon, he thought I was playing chicken when I accelerated towards the passing place towards an oncoming vehicle, locals hit the beginning of the passing place at the same time, to pass at a decent pace.
1:17:05 the way the mountain was slowly revealed through the cloud was absolutely breathtaking. I had to watch it a few times. Loved watching this, thanks 🙏
At 35.36 the very last house you can see on the left was my schools (Rutherglen Academy) adventure centre in the 60s and 70s. The former schoolhouse and classroom at InverAlligin was converted by the pupils and staff to accomodate up to 30. We walked those hills everyday... Fond memories from my youth. I even remember electricity being installed in 1971. A very respectable 8 hour drive from Glasgow over single track roads from the A82. It gave the love of Torridon, the hills and the beauty of Scotland to a 15 year old from an urban environment that has stayed with me ever since. Thank you. Tapadh Leibh!
That cloud breaking timelapse on Suilven caused me flutters in places I thought were dead..... what I appreciated most is that you didn't feel the need to give any sort of rousing intro commentary, you just let the event speak for itself, which made it 100 times more satisfying and unexpected.
I feel so lucky to be born in Scotland, my country is beautiful. I took a day trip up and around the North Coast etc a few weeks ago just to admire the mountains and scenery and it just makes my soul feel at peace. Absolutely stunning. Great video!
I'm currently laid up in hospital after spinal surgery and watching your trip took me out of the ward for a while, thank you. Liathach(next to Beinn Eighe) and Beinn Alligin are fantastic peaks in Torridon, well worth the hike especially Liathach's ridge and its pinnacles.
Amazing video. I am Suffolk born, with a Glaswegian Mum and a Yank Dad living in Oklahoma now and I remember some of Scotland from my youth living in the UK but nothing like you show. I had Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis over the summer. I did a few things to heal it and one is very controversial. I got a tiny foot sleeve that I wore at night, I would lightly massage to each side and just above the A tendon to break up any scar tissue and to warm it up. And here is the one that nobody wants to hear, I only wore crocs for 3 months (actually the fake crocs from Amazon with the colored inserts for extra cushioning). The crocs made a soft base and no strain on the tendons while walking. Shoes are best with zero incline and a wide toe base like Altra Hiking shoes. It is actually shoes that cause foot issues. I love that you show us your return to the van and then a nice brekkie somewhere but dang! Not opening until 9 am for breakfast is crazy! Don’t stop your talking, let people who don’t like it put you on mute. I am learning a lot.
Isn't it strange how scuppered plans can yield such wonderful results.... This is my favourite thing you've done. I was with you, enjoying every moment. It doesn't matter that you didn't get to climb; the pleasure of your company on the journey is what makes your work so enjoyable. Your love for the landscape shines through, along with your enthusiasm, your evident friendliness, the self-deprecating humour, and the complete absence of phoniness. (Is that the word???) I hope your Achilles recovers. But if it doesn't, there are many of us who would happily ride in the van, enjoying the sites you show us, sharing vicariously the brews, the Mars bars, the pies, the movies you fall asleep to, and life on the road. Your hiking and climbing videos are brilliant, but your company on simple walks and roadtrips is just as engaging. Thank you so much.
Thanks Glenn. My late granddad introduced me to Suilven. He was a geologist and a teacher and did his Masters on the ancient rocks up there. It's the only mountain my wife has ever climbed as she is definitely not an enthusiast! I dragged her up there many years ago and she enjoyed it. The payback was a wonderful stay at the Ballachulish Hotel on the way back. I have climbed it many times and still go to Sutherland on occasions when I get back from military deployments. It's a beautiful and serene place which is my favourite destination in the world. Thanks for showing it and Glen Coe too. Absolutely superb video
This is honestly one of the best videos of ever seen on Scotland. Outstanding cinematography. Shame your Achilles was playing up but it didn’t dampen how good this video was. Well done.
Been said elsewhere I guess, but what a nice guy, you intuitively sense it's not an act. The drone footage and especially the timelapse on Suilven actually made me emotional, similar to listening to a poignant piece of music. So much in the world is ugly, bland and conformist, a beige dystopia of coercive oppression, that this small moment of beauty and excellence provided a welcome temporary release........
Been blessed to have climbed thid amazing mountain, 3 times. Sutherland is something else. Its something people should see. Its one of the truly last great wildernesses in the UK

Whether you're walking, driving, droning, or sitting you still gleaned the creme de la creme! AWESOME! 💚🥰💚

And they say us motorhomers don’t spend money in the local community. This is a perfect example of how we enjoy the Scottish countryside and contribute to the communities we visit. Great video.
Absolutely brilliant video, enjoyed that so much….and very timely too as my wife and I are doing the Jacobite Express coupled with the NC500 in October….will be watching this a good few more times before we go👍
The journey was spectacular and this video shows it’s not all about hiking up hills, well done for highlighting Scotlands beautiful landscape and to prove you don’t have to be a mountain goat to enjoy it, you should do more of this content . Once again top marks.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes! Looking to do this one (thumbnail) as soon as there's a good forecast, got a week off in September and am keeping my fingers crossed, cant wait to see this!
Love seeing folk enjoying our country. Well, the country we happen to live in. One thing this needs....a small dog, like a jack russel, to come along with...
Lovely filming and it's always easy to listen to a calm voice. I love Scotland and plan to visit Glencoe again soon. Been to Scotland a few times but only once to Glencoe. Camped on the fabulous Red Squirrell Campsite. Good work dude!!
Living in the south of scotland (which is also beautiful) I forget how stunning the north west of Scotland is. Not being bias but if the weather good, there is nowhere better. Excellent video!
I truly believe that Achmelvich Bay, on a sunny day, is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It really does take your breath away to be sitting on the rocks, totally alone in nature. Having said that, the Lochinve Larder pies come a close second for holiday experiences! Can't wait to go back next year.

On behalf of everyone, thank you. Thank you for your time and the hard work you put in to all your videos and for sharing them with us and thank you for making us actually feel like we're with you. The views and scenery you have shared is beyond breathtaking. This entire video, start to finish, actually makes it feel as if we are right with you, especially things like "Wait til you see what's behind you". Hope your Achilles gets better soon so you can go where you want when you want.....and take us with you. Compliments on the accompanying music too btw. Just 1 question - where's that adorable little white bundle of Finney cuteness? I love how in places, if you take the road out, it is almost exactly as Robert the Bruce & William Wallace would have known it.
That video was 1hr 30mins long. Neither me nor nobody watches 1hr:30m long RUclips videos. Until now. What an absolute joy. I feel like I want to give you a cuddle. Excellent. Just beautifully, fabulously excellent. Thank you.
That was a great watch Glenn. Cracking Sunday night viewing and very relaxing as well. Feel bad for you that you couldn’t walk much but still massively worth the trip. Well filmed as well 👌🙌🏻👍🏻🎥
Brilliant video Glenn. As a fellow walker, wild camper, van camper and huge fan of Scotland, it ticked all the boxes. Also have Scottish so love everything about Scotland. Not been to Redpoint or Gairloch for 15 years and Suilven, the Buckle and Stac Polly are all still on my ticklist so just loved your video. Keep up the great work 👍 👏
Glenn, just wow. Bleak is beyond beautiful, it is soul inspiration. Thank you for this amazing video, it was well worth the wait. And especially perfect timing for me as I fly out to Scotland before wending my way to Cumbria and the Lakes District in just 12 days from now. Even more excited (which I didn’t think was possible!!!) after watching this!!
Oh Glenn, this is our favorite video! Your sense of humor and plucky attitude about your injury carried us along on this trip! In fact, we were not disappointed that you did not climb your mountain, we were so enamored of the beauty you shared- and we especially loved your mini Finn who was with you the whole trip. She rested at times, she was up and watchful other times-an adorable addition to the road trip. We will re-visit this video again and again! Gratefully, your Idaho Panhandle friends from across the pond, Barbara and Mike
The vlog we have all been waiting for. 😊 Also congrats on reaching 40k subs. The growth this past year has been incredible. I've been with ya almost since the start. What a journey it's been.
Thanks for the great tour, it is a beautiful route, we did it last year too. My husband passed in feb, we so loved this trip. The views make you feel giddy, make you laugh and make you cry, wonderful, I really enjoyed your company. Get better soon. Cheers.👣
What a stunning log of your trip through the most beautiful part of the the UK. I personally love that, the remoteness, the nature, I'm always drawn back. I'm grateful that the weather isn't always good, otherwise it would be ruined by people! In the next year or two, I intend following your path, hopefully my also ageing body will allow a hike or two.
Thank you Glenn for taking us with you. Spectacular scenery, your time-lapse of Suilven is well, just wow! Kind regards Simon (Suffolk, sadly no mountains here!)
Simply stunning. The beauty of the far north west is unparalleled. Thank you. It may be frustrating but patience is the most important thing when it comes to an achillies. Go through the physio. You absolutely did the right thing in not climbing Suilven.
We've been travelling up to Assynt region of Sutherland for donkey's years doing unforgettable climbs up the many mountains......Stac Pollaidh, Ben More Assynt, Quinag etc, staying at Stoer Point and Nedd near Drumbeg. We've travelled up through that breathtakingly beautiful Glen by Crask Inn up to the north coast. Balnakeil Bay at Durness and Sandwood Bay are places of dreams. Now, feeling young in our sixties, our hip replacement and knee replacement surgeries prevent big climbs, but can't keep us away from the region. We were only there in August where the sun made it like the Mediterranean and we're returning in a couple of weeks because we can't bear to be away. A 13 hour drive is not enough to keep us away. Your video filled my heart. Thankyou. Your commentary was so genuine and endearing. I truly hope your ankle is ok. Look after yourself and enjoy your youth. Never take your body for granted. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy filling your mind with spectacular memories that will be with you forever. I will think of you in a few days, or so when we're at Lochinver pie shop and we're in our crofter's cottage at the base of Quinag. Xx
What a beautiful corner of the world - those beaches are incredible. Whoever lives in that white house up in the hills is very lucky having that on their doorstep.
Absolutely fantastic. Done similar routes up the west coast of Scotland myself over the years. If I could do anything and go anywhere in the world tomorrow this is the exactly where I'd be going and how I would do it. Absolutely fantastic. Saved as a fave this one.
What can i say? Absolutely incredible. I did this trip 5 years ago and was umming and arring about doing it at the end of September as I would be doing it solo. After watching this last night I am going. No question of that. Impeccable timing and this video was so good I'm going to watch it again this morning. Probably your best ever, up there with your skye vid. Oh and if you ever go back to Eileen donan castle turn right just near dornie and ascend up a country road. You get the best view ever of the castle and the kyle of lochalsh. Its mind boggling. Sorry i can't post a pic here to show you.
Why did you head back down from the Bealach na Ba summit? You missed not only Applecross and its wonderful Inn, but the coastal road from Applecross to Shieldaig which offers amazing views of Skye and the Torridon Mountains.
Had to revisit this vlog , I so enjoyed seeing this route, those mountains, the lochs and the coastal views are magnificent, sad you were in so much pain. Maybe next time you will enjoy the trip more. 😀👍
“The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, / Gang aft agley,” Saying that I've never seen a mouse driving a black van wearing a woolly hat, looking for a pie shop. Absolutely stunning vlog look after that Achilles heel and love to Finn ❤
Absolutely brilliant video me and my partner are over the moon we’ve found your content!!! Giving us so much inspo for our camper trips. You’ve made these brilliantly thank you so much we’ve really enjoyed watching them 🥰
thank you so much for the little tour of Scotland. We live in the beautiful Cotswolds and my husband is Scottish - we don't visit and tour there half as much as we should - - - I also love Northumberland 🙂. I love your videos!
Suilven is my best place in Scotland. The best description for when you reach the top of the bealach from the Lochinver side and see the view. You are treated to not just one of the greatest views in Scotland, but one of the greatest views on planet Earth. Wish your heel the best and many happy returns back here. 👍
Thank you very much for all the effort you put into this video. I enjoyed it a lot. I hope that your Achilles tendon has healed completely. You suffered a lot.
This is one of your best. I believe everything happens for a reason and your heel was telling you to just rest. And look what you experienced because of your heel...memories you will never forget. Loved this episode. Thank you for the journey xxxx
Great video - Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. You went to all the places that I remember from my own journeys - and what a great choice of food and beer throughout - 10/10
This vid of yours is by far my most favorite! Sprinkled with your wit made be sad that it was over. I wanted more. I’m sorry about you Achilles tendon but we don’t want you on top of Suilven with a blown crucial tendon. The time lapse of the clouds swirling around and clearing Suilven took my breath away. Beautiful, moving , humorous content. You covered it all. “Keep your eyes on the Pies.”
I love your video and the fact that you changed your destination and showed us other things because your body was telling you to do so. It speaks volumes about your ego that you listen to your body in the video like that in front of all of us. One little thing that I would like to suggest gently( not trying to bully or chastise) is that beautiful little tree that you could not get a picture of at 11 minutes 38 seconds. At the end of your frustration when the light had been just perfect to the point that the mountain in the dark with that sun on the tree moved your heart. I'd like to suggest instead of saying damn it (because you couldn't get a still photograph with your camera) what you do is you thank that beautiful little tree, the mountain and mother nature for affording a sacred moment with you. The universe had a dialogue in conversation of emotion just between the two of you and not to be shared because it was a very special moment that moved your heart. I know I'm critiquing you but you have such a good heart and word send out vibrations of such immense power. The start I could just feel how much that little tree in the sun with the backlit mountain at sunset moved you. And then I felt you like you rubbed that energy right out of your body saying damn it. Next time maybe say bless it and thank you for having a private personal experience directly with you lol. That beautiful personal break through communication will leave you glowing within yourself instead.
I do like that you don’t mind showing us when you go the wrong way. The first time I took my kids on to Kinder to see the downfall, we walked right past it. It’s about 40 yrs ago but my daughter still reminds people about it when we’re talking hiking.

Thank you.
Great,Enjoyed every minute .
That was a tremendous trip/vlog, top class, great watch for a Saturday morning, makes me want to get off my arse today, Cheers 🏴🍻
Absolutely bloody fantastic. This is arguably one of your best yet. A complete master in the field, well done.👍
Very cool, reminds me of Iceland.
I’m amazed you could resist the temptation to go for a swim on that beautiful beach 😊
Thanks for the great tour, it is a beautiful route, we did it last year too. My husband passed in feb, we so loved this trip. The views make you feel giddy, make you laugh and make you cry, wonderful, I really enjoyed your company. Get better soon. Cheers.👣
Great trip , great scenery and some awesome food 👍
Your best video ever, absolutely loved it.
Thanks so much for taking us along.❤
What a stunning reflecitive journey with one monumental time-lapse sequence. Bravo Black Crag.
Fantastic film. It deserves an award. 👍
Just absolutely beautiful beaches! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for making this ❤ So well filmed, shot and put together. So beautiful. An hour and a half of scenery for the soul 😊
Beautiful photography. Beautiful music. Beautiful film 😢
I love the drone footage. Absolutely stunning!
Love the Green Welly Stop ….the whiskey shop is ace 👍
Thank you very much for all the effort you put into this video. I enjoyed it a lot. I hope that your Achilles tendon has healed completely. You suffered a lot.
That was excellent. A real treat and gorgeous music too.
great advert for scotland being scottish this make me so happy thanks
Just discovered your channel. Love it. How wonderful to watch someone sending out nothing but positivity. Thank you!
This is one of your best. I believe everything happens for a reason and your heel was telling you to just rest. And look what you experienced because of your heel...memories you will never forget. Loved this episode. Thank you for the journey xxxx
Just watched this video, absolutely beautiful scenery, even though you couldn't climb The Suiliven, You enjoyed it, cracking video mate 🙂👍
Great video - Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. You went to all the places that I remember from my own journeys - and what a great choice of food and beer throughout - 10/10
very very good an excellent production and content, a really enjoyable watch of a spectacular trip
Your Scotland trips are the best , absolutely stunning
Ace loved it , and the music was fab .
Fantastic trip Glenn. Scotland is quite breath-taking. Many thanks.
Incredible, you are amazing even without your hiking, just awesome.
I do like that you don’t mind showing us when you go the wrong way. The first time I took my kids on to Kinder to see the downfall, we walked right past it. It’s about 40 yrs ago but my daughter still reminds people about it when we’re talking hiking.
That was a privilege to watch. Cheers mate
