The turbo wrangler shifted fine. Extremely soft suspension, stock motor mounts, and almost 1 foot of shift throw mixed together with the power increase doesn’t equate to smooth shifts under full throttle. Personally I’m curious to see how this would do if the auto had the turbo for less boost loss between gears and the manual with the s/c
That was awesome. I believe if it wasn't for the turbo jeep having to be a manual, it would be a little quicker or maybe right next to the supercharged jeep.
Despite being an old video. For a Jeep wrangler the blower is always the best option. You’ll never need top end, 100+mph, especially lifted but passing cars on the interstate and merging on a highway needs instant torque and power , supercharger wins for this case
Sprintex is the best right off the bottom not a race performance kit but enough to pep up the 3.8 to have enough power to pull the jeep in 6th gear down the highway. Stock 3.8 is almost junk when new.
You're never really going to need either for off-roading anyways. You get all the power you need from torque multiplication via the transfer case/crawl ratios.
I disagree It is all situational If you have ever done any steep hillclimbing, sometimes the low gear lacks the rolling speed. And a higher gear lacks the power and torque. I have often wished for more power offroad in my 06 rubicon. I think this would help.
+Gabriel E thank you. It was clear that the black was manual, but the first image on the video got me confused as it says supercharger on the black jeep. thank you for making this video ☺
How do you think the sprintex would have faired against the prodigy if it was also a 6 speed manual? Im torn between buying a sprintex or a prodigy kit. The price difference is what is making this decision so hard.
Wade Richmire I'm sure the prodigy would've still pulled much harder due to the comparable shifting speed. It's just a higher hp producing kit. On the other hand the sprintex is great off road.
normanmakaio But the 3.6 puts out plenty of power for off-road, even with 37s. You should check out @LiteBrite and their Wrangler they chose to turbo charge rather than super charge. The turbo just makes daily driving and commuting so much nicer and you’re right, the power ban isn’t for low rpm off-roading, it’s to improve the overall versatility of the Jeep. Also boosting MPG and turbos keep their boost at higher altitudes. Good for us Colorado people.
@@jackrotter9434 Idk.. maybe if your racing a jk turbo is the way to go. I got x2 people in my neighborhood one is a turbo one is sc. To get on to the main road it's a hill.. when I see the sc guy pull out and up he gets up to traffic speed quicker then the guy with the turbo.. I mean you can hear the lug or lag of the turbo before it spools and takes off..pretty sure the turbo guy has to accelerate harder off the line to get that turbo to spool and make power..at least it sure sounds and looks like that from my home...I do know they raced and like this video the sc took off and left the turbo one behind, but eventually turbo guy caught up and passed.
@@jackrotter9434@litebrite blew up there motor with the Prodigy turbo... Kevin was clearly unhappy with Prodigy to put it mildly & then installed a 6.2 hemi
if you're turbo'd you'll never be in boost when crawling through terrain. Boost usually hits at about 3k unless you've got some crazy twinscroll setup in your jeep.
Did you have any issues with the out-of-the-box tune? Or did you have a complete custom Tune? And which tuner? I read a lot of mixed review but still looking get a sprinted for my auto.
@@handtohandcombat3535 how you gonna be talking about the cats when the obvious difference maker is the automatic shifts. that turbo setup would rip the sprintex if it was auto.
@@lethalbacon1127 I've built 4 turbo cars as well as two supercharged cars. No back pressure on a turbo car is a BIG deal. Auto or not, you're welcome to your opinion. Its your money not mine. Good luck.
Why would you ever spend 6k to make your jeep fast is what im wondering. Its a jeep, its got low gears and a decent engine. Its supposed to climb hills and be slow
Cause they like to lead and not follow, from a guy that has built one 350 4 bolt main 1988 (was in my K5 Blazer and as fast as Grand Nationals, back in the day).
SUZUKI GSXR-1000R no it doesn’t, actually preforms quite well. Nobody is using full power/boost when climbing over rocks. The additional power comes in handy when it’s actually needed.
If that dude could drive that turbo jeep he probably could’ve pulled a lot sooner
I didn't see anything wrong with his shifting. There not exactly smooth engagements, plus the mounts are sloppy, the suspension is soft etc etc.
Clown comment, try shifting fast with a 1 foot throw 😂
Damn that was awesome
S/C made power early and turbo came on late and pulled despite dropping boost with the shifts. Both impressive over stock.
God that poor transmission, hurt my soul watching that shifting
dude.... seriously read my mind.

I was about to say the same thing 💀 the shifts of a noob
@@dokiboki9432 manual jeeps have a huge throw, combine that with more power, what would normally be an okay shift becomes an "awful shift"

got some power there

If I didn’t have 40s and had those stock tires I might have done that. Went with a TL1 6.2
In a subdivision. Great.
This video just proves to me that the super charger is better for 4 wheeling.
Neither are good for off road. Rarely are you ever at an RPM high enough to spool a turbo or get the torque set by a blower.
You're never really going to need either for off-roading anyways. You get all the power you need from torque multiplication via the transfer case/crawl ratios.
I disagree

Add an intercooler and watch the gap grow!!! FACT. Prodigy Turbo Kits hold all the world records...Not Sprintex. Period www.prodigyperformance.com
How did you install the display
Not going to lie, 100mph in a jeep sounds terrifying
The shifting 🤭
You can hear the a little bang sound while shifting. Mines does it as well
I think you should mention the jeeps gears also. because the prodigy is more powerful.

Ride in a RIPP supercharged JT (automatic) and it rips!! Even lifted and with 37’s.

I also believe this was only a stage one turbo kit. A Stage II would have destroyed the Sprintex.
The beginning of the video states it's a stage 1 kit.
How do you like the Prodigy kit vs the Sprintex? What is your setup? I'm shopping right now.
Seems like the sc is better suited for off Road..off idle torque & hp..
Turbo only good up top where most jeeps don't need it off road.
