I have a theory: what if Larys is already working with Harrenhal before Daemon got there and Alys isn’t even real. Wouldn’t be shocked if all this is trickery and just playing mind games with Daemons head 🤔 💭
Hey Sean watching the old GoT reactions really liked the captions that came between scenes, like "Narrative of Tower blue balls"😂😂😂😂 something like that would be great again.
Alicent kind of forgot that she chose to ascend her son by male primogeniture claims and now is shocked when no one want a woman on throne. Alicent holding women’s progress back because she can’t have that 🐉 🐱 😂
Rhaenyra stole Baela/Rhaena's inheritance for her bastard son. Rhaenyra herself became an even bigger broodmare than Alicent and bends to the will of the men around her whenever an issue arises. Fact is Alicent was realistic about how their world works; Rhaenyra deluded herself into thinking she was above it all and could do whatever. In the end both achieved the same thing when it came to progress, which is nothing. Well, no, Rhaenyra actually greatly harmed women's progress as she became a cautionary tale and the main reason men would use whenever a girl was suggested as heir in the decades to follow.
@@SimplymeSVEN18funny thing about progress is it starts with trying. This conflict started because the Greens used it for their advantage to put their puppet on the throne. If they had respected Viserys’ decision, he was the law, and he made every lord bend the knee and take oaths to Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra is the rightful and legal heir by decree of the king. Had the Greens been loyal to their King, they would be serving Rhaenyra and putting down any lords that think they can break their oaths. I understand that pragmatism says this was leading to rebellion anyway since they wouldn’t accept a Queen, yet Targaryens are overlords of Westeros, the Iron Throne is a Targaryen institution. They could have just put everyone in line with fear of the Dragons like their predecessors. There is after all the Targaryen exceptionalism that put the Faith of the 7 in it’s place. The Greens destroyed the House of the Dragon due to their ambition to break oath with their king and not defend Rhaenyra’s claim. Sure you could say Rhaenyra could step aside and make peace, but she knows that by Targaryen law she is the heir and those that usurped are not only breaking the law, but will now have to become legitimate by conquest, hence war is now the only option they’ve left open. Alicent is a hypocrite zealot, she has stifled the potential of women ascending where it is alien to Westeros (not Dorne, or Northern Houses like Mormont). All because she never got some of that 🐉 🐈 from Rhaenyra.
@@blackflagsnroses6013 All Viserys did was make the line of succession unclear. Making it a free for all for anyone with the strength to push their claim. His word lasts only as long as he does. Rhaenys also says something along those lines in the show. Personally I'm surprised there were only two claimants fighting for it. Westeros simply wasn't ready yet for a ruling queen. Especially one with a reputation like Rhaenyra. A woman on the throne was already a first, but a kinslayer and adultress with a bastard as heir? She wasn't just a woman, but the worst kind of woman. That was a recipe for disaster. Viserys should've seen that; had he not been blinded by his guilt over Aemma's death.
Viserys destroyed his own house, simple as that. A war was bound to happen, he should only look at Rhaenys to know people's opinion on the matter. Those oaths meant little and most people who swore them were already dead by the time Viserys died. Even if the Greens hadn't pushed Aegon's claim, at the first sign of trouble people would start plotting to replace her with Aegon anyway. That's not even including the fact that every house that had at one point had a bastard would want the Strong boys dead, before they inherited the crown. There was only ever one outcome. Either one side dies, or the other does. People would keep trying to replace Rhae with her brothers until there were no alternatives left. War was inevitable. One way or another.
@@blackflagsnroses6013Alicent didn’t really do what you’re saying she’s don’t. She genuinely believed Viserys changed his mind and was in the dark about the council plans to crown Aegon regardless.
@@VMohdude-that was just an excuse to go after Rhaenyra. She took care of Jaeherys his final days. She knows old and ailing people make ramblings and mistake reality with illusions. Are you forgetting that moments before he died he got his decrepit ass up to defend Rhaenyra’s claims one last time. But Alicent likes to believe he all of a sudden he changed his mind after years of being clear who his heir is. Did he ever take to preparing Aegon or Aemond to rule? No, he always protected Rhaenyra. So Alicent is either a dumbass or schemer she can’t be both.
y’all might have mentioned this in some video so I apologize for asking, are you posting the rewatch/commentary to youtube this season? keep up the good work so well edited and shot 😮💨
I hate Alicent. She's smart enough to know she's on the wrong side, but not smart enough to actually be of use to the Greens in her ploy to seat her bloodline on the Throne.
As much as I didn't like the first three episodes, cuz the pacing and character writing was weird to me, I really enjoyed episodes 4 and 5. I have to say tho, I reeeaallllyy hate how no one in the show has referred to Aemond as kinslayer. Luke's death by his uncle, Alicent being rightfully horrified, Aegon throwing a feast to celebrate Aemond killing Luke??? I'm sad we didn't get any of this in the show. Makes the impact of the 1st season's finale fall flat imo (that and we had so little of Rhaenyra's rage 😞). I'm still holding out hope we get some of the awesome side characters later. 😔🙏

Usually after a battle everybody regroups. In this case, we got a lot of characters mourning the passing of an important characters and set-up for what's to come. Do you want to jump form battle to battle every episode? I think at that point you'd probably complain that everything's going way too fast and that we're missing out on the juicy character interactions. I get the feeling that the people who complained about the last season of GOT don't actually know what they want.
They just had a huge battle and in the books daemon is at harrenhal for a year. If you need your excitement dose, go watch some Michael Bay shit. Ohhhhh my God I can't stand the story telling, where are the booms and screams and death?!
@@Geminei Storytelling doesnt require action. its funny how people always use this as a response to “slow progression”. Not much happened in this episode compared to the books. admit it. The whole segment w Daemon in Harrenhal couldve been removed in favor of Dragonseeds
@@Regenmacher175 youre just like the last guy, equating slow story w no action. Slow story means we spent yet another 10 min w Daemon doing nothing in Harrenhal, and the only moves being made are Aemond becoming King & Jace doing all the work for Team Black. 60 min and thats all that happens?
@@Eladdrin Daemon is antagonising the riverlords. That's doing something. It's not in his favour but it's doing something. I'll list important stuff that happens in the episode: - The smallfolk get the first inkling that Targaryen might and exceptionalism is BS, thanks to Ser Criston Cole...this has long-terms implications for the story going forward. - Aegon is alive but wounded...hence not off the board entirely. Also has long-term implications for the story. - Ameond becomes regent, currently the most powerful person in the realm and Alicent no longer has any power at all, unlike in the previous episodes where she still had a say in the Small Council in which she is now being completely ignored. This also has long-term implications. - Jace makes a deal with the Freys in exchange for Harrenhal WITHOUT talking to Daemon first. Can't imagine this going smoothly witout a hitch at some point... - Rhaenyra and Mysaria send Rhaenyra's handmaiden to KL to seemingly exploit the increasing restlessness of the smallfolk...the outcome of that remains to be seen. - Corlys is offered the position of Hand of the Queen and seemingly accepts. - Daemon struggles to gather an army at Harrenhal (1 step forward, 5 steps back) and is seemingly being pushed by Alys via his dreams to claim what he is made to think ought to be his. - Aemond closes the gates of KL, which antagonises the smallfolk who wish to leave because Corlys' blockade has made food so scarce they can't feed themselves anymore....the long-term implications of that decision remain to be seen. - Rhaneyra and Jace decide to find people within the Targaryen lineage to claim the riderless dragons...that has potentially world-changing implications going forward. All this is not nothing. Filler episodes don't exist in this story. You might not yet be able to see the whole picture but once we get there it'll be something really special. Moral of the story: don't be impatient. All good things come to those who wait.
Agreed. 5 episodes of Rhaenrya and Alicent keeping everyone held back and critiquing everyone else who is pushing the need to act aggressively and decisively. Now Rhaenrya is cut off from the Mainland and Alicent is cut off from the Green Council and all decisions of worth. And dont even get me started on Daemon.....this whole season feels like a backslash from the writers who don't like Daemon and don't understand why the fans liked Book Daemon and are beating you over the head with why he sucks
@@KeangoDLukethe writers themselves said it so 😂.... Also they removed daemons only redeeming quality which is being loyal and loving to his family. In S1 Daemon was supposed to comfort his daughters but they deleted that and we got Aegon jerking instead 😂
In my honest opinion, "House of the Dragon" episodes just aren’t thrilling enough to watch with a group at a bar and record their reactions. This season has been boring so far, the previous ones, started off with a boring first 6 to 7 episodes. This season has been largely dull as well, with the exception of the ending of the last episode.
Another weak episode when they focus on team black. Actors aren't as good, plus characters boring . Jace wants fight, the queen just sitting around, daemon?? Lol
Slow episodes are not bad. I mean, I read the book and can find interesting things to say about many of the scenes you'd probably qualify as boring but that does not change the fact that it was a solid breather after the epic (and likely very expensive) battle. Those big confrontations also don't happen just one right after the other. Having the necessary set-up for what's to come makes those later events more special tbh.

How do people like you even watch the show and enjoy it when you clearly don't understand it? So baffling.
@@BernardoMLala That has nothing to do with what I said. Alicent is spared from having to make these decisions, which is true. Criston was right. Whether she can or not, or is dangerous or not, is frankly irrelevant. Even though I think it's obvious she would do more harm than good.

Either Alys Rivers is a ghost or she does not look the way Daemon sees her.
I don’t think she’s a ghost but her appearing differently to Daemon than to how others see her is a very interesting theory.
Oooo I didn't even think of this!! I love the idea of her appearing differently to Daemon vs everyone else.
Aemond has gone full sephiroth 😳
When Rhanyera stars her homework assignment of looking for Dragon riders, something tells me she'll find Hugh is a dastard Targeryrian. He has to be with that long main of dirty blonde hair. I thought that when he came looking for prepayment.

Such a literate series . Love it 😊😊😊😊
Aemond is such a badass and the most interesting character in this show.
Have we seen ANYONE interact with Alys who isn't Daemon?
Simon appears to look at her later in this ep
@@SeanTanktopshe disappeared behind Simon tho so that was interesting 🤔
I think when Daemon first claimed the castle one member of the Strong household looked at her.
I'll go back and double check 👀, Seems very few people acknowledge her, but then, as late lord Strong's "bastard" why would she be.
Rewatched! Simon looks past her and keeps going, doesn't seem to acknowledge her, after they pass he looks on in that direction at seemingly nothing.
Hopefully Daemon will gtfo from Harrenhal in the next episode
He will I've seen it on the next trailer
In the book, he stays there for about a year.
Ma man daemon be doing some side quests.

Kind of liking the vibe from Narcissa and Hodor jr of the watchers 😊
I’m so tired of Daemon’s visions. 💤
The two women at the front are giving serious spoiler vibe from their reaction to the scenes😅😅
So Alicent is either a dumbass or schemer she can’t be both.

if not for Rhaenys there will never be Season 2

Pretty slow episode. Wasnt the best maybe a 6/10, thought the story would progress more
Usually after a battle everybody regroups.
I'll list important stuff that happens in the episode:
- The smallfolk get the first inkling that Targaryen might and exceptionalism is BS, thanks to Ser Criston Cole...this has long-terms implications for the story going forward.
This show is low key turning into a snooze fest ngl. Really enjoyed the first season but this has become underwhelming
This season is merely gonna set up the explosive next season in 2026 😂😂😂
@@dominiqueodom3099Daemon is the most interesting he's been this season? I'm very confused why you think the writers hate him.
@@KeangoDLukethe writers themselves said it so 😂.... Also they removed daemons only redeeming quality which is being loyal and loving to his family. In S1 Daemon was supposed to comfort his daughters but they deleted that and we got Aegon jerking instead 😂
@@dominiqueodom3099 Daemon stays at Harrenhal for a year in the book. There's your Book Daemon LOL.
In my honest opinion, "House of the Dragon" episodes just aren’t thrilling enough to watch with a group at a bar and record their reactions. This season has been boring so far, the previous ones, started off with a boring first 6 to 7 episodes. This season has been largely dull as well, with the exception of the ending of the last episode.
no one knows how to react
Seeing that guy sitted looking down during the scene of Baela and Corlys pisses me off the disrespect to the characters reeks of racism.
Another weak episode when they focus on team black. Actors aren't as good, plus characters boring . Jace wants fight, the queen just sitting around, daemon?? Lol
slow? yes. weak? no. they just had to set the scene for whats next ;-) (plus the budget was problem low after last episode lol)
Why not 12 episodes?? Green characters far more depth. I think cole being phased out now. Gonna focus on aemond but he's one dimensional
@@andrewmcgill9544 you clear no nothing about acting,🤦lol
