I really liked both of these when I was shopping for a new car recently. Great looks, good power l, and honestly incredible handling from each. I think the ct4v is too small to be useful in my life. The ct5v was the sweet spot. I also appreciate the awd and mag ride option. If only the 5 came in a sport back or even better a wagon.
More GM cars. Thank you Ben. Cadillacs at that. There was not much difference between the cars other interior room and price. The trunks I think are small for both. It is interesting Cadillac builds performance cars like this and are highly competitive as well. These are the kinds of cars the car magazines wanted Cadillac to build years ago. They have. Heads up display and digital gauges as well. It is shame the coupe market dried up. Thank you for the review Ben.
It makes sense that they don't share any outside body parts. Cuz if it did, it would devalue the ct5. The ct5 is supposed to be an upgrade to the ct4 so it has to be different and not share Any parts to maintains its "up-gradedness"
I've had both well I had a CT4 sport and now the CT5V. I can't for the life of me understand the the read folding seat set up. The 4 has a much bigger opening. Not sure what they were thinking. I play hockey and cart kids around for hockey and I need to use that space often. Other than that I love the V. Just got it so excited for the warmer weather. Nice comparison review
I’ve been waiting for a comparison video like this. Thanks! The lease is up in a couple months and I want to go back to a sport sedan. Not sure if I can swing the CT5 V price, unfortunately. I’d like to know thoughts on a CT5 sport; get the size but less power than both of these. I think my decision is coming down to a CT5 sport, CT4 V or a used 3.0 AWD MKZ. Thanks for the video!
I far prefer the rear end on the CT5-V. But both are super cool. Nice job! Thanks! Regarding the price difference, do they both have all the packages so that you are comparing apples to apples?
yeah, you're right to the point, but your points are incorrect- mistaking displacement, power output, tire size, etc. use note cards while your speak, if needed. also, your test drives leave a lot wanting, even on public roads. otherwise, you cover a good diversity of vehicles.
I'm in the market now and notice the same things. No better off than I was. Agree the CT4 is cramped in back, as would be expected. Still coming from 2 C6s and the C7 I'm trading, both Cadillacs seem cavernous.
My only complaint is and this is with most of these Guys that do theses reviews why do they get this wrong with the Hp and I blame GM for this because if they had given the CT5 -V more Hp everybody would really know what the Hp is right off the bat , but the V has 360 Hp
Yes I feel like the CT5 V should have been closer to 400 HP...385 or 390 would have been perfect...GM's reason for capping at 360 was that apparently people were intimidated by the old CTS V Sport's 420 HP for a daily driver so they wanted to make this new iteration seem more practical
@@tintocherian7715 well am definitely waiting for someone to figure out how to detune this engine I was told that it is the same engine that was in the ATS so it can be tuned
Bought a CT4V and while the performance is fantastic, I really wish I got the TLX Type S. Test drove one recently and the Cadillac really doesn't compare in terms of quality/refinement/comfort. Also, you can change the digital cluster. There are three different displays.
Well, the CT4 isn’t supposed to even be compared to the TLX Type S in the first place. That vehicle competes with the CT5-V which blows it out of the water in terms of quality, refinement, comfort and technology.
@mybro727 CT5V is $10k more expensive than the Type S. The Type S and CT4V are evenly priced. For the price of a CT5V, you can buy a hand built PMC edition.
It's the torque curve that makes the CT-5 punchier than the CT-4. The 4 cylinder's turbo has to spool up more to get similar levels if torque. But the CT-4 is lighter so that helps its performance numbers.
There's a 0.1 difference in 0 to 60 times Between these 2. So if If CT5 had a full tank of gas and the CT4 Had low fuel the times would probably be almost exactly the same. Also the ct4V is a V6 with twin turbo's NOT a V4 like you mentioned.
You drove these at 30 MPH around the block and prefered the larger more squishy car........shocking. Get a rear wheel drive CT4V out on some twisty roads and report back.
If you really want the 4’s sleeker profile and chassis dynamics but the 5v engine, take a look at the 4v blackwing. It’s super gnarly however I must admit that you can’t really use the rear seats because the upgraded bucket seats are so thick. I just folded them down for more exhaust noise and burbles
@@THE_A.RAVEN1 Thanks I'd love a BW but this would be my northeast awd daily driver to replace my XT4. I have Scat Pack Widebody Shaker Challenger and an '87 Buick GN for fun cars.
As somebody who is a die-hard Caddie fan, this video is completely pointless no offense. The only thing to compare here is maybe the inside of the cabin the ct4 is obviously the ATS successor so the inside is very compact it's basically a Corvette with two seats in the back for children. In fact uses corvette/camaro parts, same with the CT5 . Other than that both these cars are almost identical in performance and both are rated 200+ MPH and the 0 to 60 miles an hour are almost identical as well. CT5V is 3.4 and CT4V 3.5 despite the 3.7 and 3.8 times you see all over google. Now if you were comparing a V to a black wing that would be a completely different story.
I would love to know what your method for measuring performance per dollar is here. This ain’t Dodge where they need to throw a 707 horsepower supercharged engine in everything they want to *go fast.* Cadillac’s _V-series_ division works to achieve performance in all aspects of the word and it’s why you hear Ben comment on he impressive dynamics, handling & comfort of these two Cadillac PERFORMANCE cars. Considering the CT5-V is superior than the G70 3.3T, TLX Type S, and the Lexus ISF as well as the CT4-V being superior to the BMW 228i which it was designed to compete against - I’m having a hard time making any logical sense out of your statement. You’re also getting more than just performance when you buy either of these Cadillacs.

Yes I love coupes! I think crossovers are hideous and much to bulky. If I want a roomy car for trips I’ll buy an actual suv.
0:32 Thanks for the correction ben. Still pretty fast though. Amazing comparison!
I thought the backseat of the 5 was cramped till you showed the 4.
I guessed five grand difference.
Love Cadillac, thanks for the comparison!
CT5-V is 360 HP not 335!

Did you not watch the video? Lol he corrected himself!
Ben, partner, always I´ve admired this brand, because they´re authentic cars, since they produced the Cadillac Seville in the 90´s.

The 5 doesn’t have 2 more liters than the 4. It has 2 more cylinders and .3 of a liter more displacement.
He didn't mention the ct4 also has a turbo
Hey @BenHardyCars between the CT5-V and TLX type S which one you would buy ?
Like the front of the 5 more but the rear of the 4 more; a bit more modern and classy to me with the sloped sides and smaller badge
Exactly! My same thoughts!
Really I'm surprised the back of the 4 looks too tall and chunky while the 5 is sleek classy
