    Hi ..Great job thanks.. Been golfing for years and now going to purchase a simulator for a spare room . This looks good but I do want some sort of better impact screen which will do a better job of showing the projected image...Any ideas ? Again thank you ... Also any thought on the best simulator to purchase ? .Been doing research but would appreciate your opinion

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  4 года назад +1

      Hi pal. Thanks for the comments. A simulator is an amazing purchase so go for it and enjoy. You can buy more expensive impact than screens that give a better projected image - check out Hybrid Me (another RUclips channel) and the guy there Phil sells some great screens Type 1 and Type 2 I think he calls them. He will sort you out with a good screen 👍🏼 in terms of a simulator, I can only really comment on the SkyTrak. SkyTrak is quality, accurate and relatively affordable. I haven’t tried many of the others. I believe Mevo+ is similar quality to SkyTrak maybe a little more expensive. Optishot is cheaper but not as good I don’t think. GC2 has a great reputation but a couple of grand more expensive. I have tried Trackman and GCQuad too but there are ridiculously priced 💰😂 I hope that helps in some way. Any other questions please ask 👍🏼

    Great build. If you were building in a garage, how much distance behind the archery baffle would you leave to allow for the 'billowing'? And do you attach the bottom of the baffle or leave it to soak up the impact?

      Thanks Matt. I have actually now built a simulator room in my garage if you’d like to check out the video: ruclips.net/video/2IArFU2ecac/видео.html
      I can’t remember if I answer your question in the video or not. But I read to leave a minimum of 12inches (I think I actually left 16 inches in mine) and no I don’t attach the bottom to anything, I leave it to soak up the impact 👍🏼

    Great video !! Really useful . I have just finished my outdoor cage and pretty muck all the items you mentioned. Have you tried projecting on the archery screen? My mevo plus arrive tomorrow and I’m wondering if I could use that and buy a projector or would I need a proper screen ? Also my cage is 10ft x 10ft x 10ft , any ideas what projector ratio I should use? Thanks for any help you can

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  3 года назад +1

      yes projecting onto the archery works well as long as you don’t have too much light. you can get a good enough image on an archery screen without buying a real impact screen. the quality is slightly less of course but you will still get a solid playing experience. with a 10x10x10 cage and screen, you will get a more ‘full’ screen with a 4:3 ratio. if you get a projector that has 1:1 ratio that will fill the whole impact screen. 16x9 ratio will leave you with a slim band of an image across the screen with gaps at the top and bottom. hope this helps 👍🏼

One question, I notice you dont have scaffold netting behind the archery baffle net, does that work OK or do you need scaffold net there too ? • @hcpgolf

      I don't have scaffold netting at the back, not all the way down anyway. ome of it overlaps from the top and goes about half a meter down the back which works great to catch any wedge shots that sneak through the archery net at the top

      Yes you can! Just make sure you have quite a dark room and put a dark sheet just behind the archery net. You will get a pretty good image projected! The whole golf net is holding up great it is very durable. A couple of eyelets have come loose at the top of the archery net where I have repeatedly hit wedges, but I just use tarp clips there now and they work just as good 👍🏼

    Thinking of building this for my son. If it’s just a practice net (no plans for it to be simulator) could you use scaffolding net all the way round? And how go you secure the metal frame to the ground? (Probably grass)?

    • @hcpgolf

    Hi, do you find the archery baffle netting quite noisey at impact? My standard golf netting developed holes after only 3 months, so took the (safety) plunge and recently purchased some 3mx3m archery baffle netting! Sure, no ball is getting through that bad boy, but heck, certainly produces a loud thud at impact!!

    Just come across your vid, really helpful. However, struggling with dimensions. The piping you're using seems pretty small so was wondering how you secure the frame to the ground as it seems quite light?

    • @hcpgolf
      @hcpgolf  4 года назад

      Great, I am glad it has been helpful. The piping is only 3/4 inch diameter however they are pretty heavy duty and the frame isn’t light! However, I would recommend pegs to secure the frame into grass or maybe sandbags if it’s on concrete. When it is windy, the impact screen can act like a sail 😂⛵️ sandbags aren’t the prettiest so I’m sure there are some actual fixings that you could pick up to attach the poles securely and neatly to a hard floor.

      @@hcpgolf cool, thanks for the update, maybe u shaped metal tent pegs would do the trick. The 2 most expensive items are the frame which comes in at £92 & the baffle netting at £115, but a heck of a lot cheaper than buying one!
